The Mail Bag

Fox Soccer Channel, USA

Comments (11)

Everton got a lot of coverage on Fox Soccer Channel last night. The two English presenters (one a Chelsea fan) commenting that Tim Cahill is the best late arriver in the box in the world. Mikel Arteta got several mentions including walking straight into the England team and being an awesome gifted player. Moyes got the plaudits for creating a great team.

Plus goals of the week awarded to Tim Cahill and Pienaar. In typical American fashion, they have multiple goals of the week..... Pity the BBC doesn't give us credit like that...

One down-side with the Fox Soccer Channel recently is that it has not been carrying too many of Everton’s league games. Most of them have been carried by Setanta recently.

For those of you in the US and do not have a satellite dish, one option is getting Setanta via broadband through a service called ITVN. It costs 15$/month but the service is unreliable and the picture quality is relatively poor.

During the Redshite match, internet streaming issues led to a very frustrating viewing experience, in addiiton to a very frustrating outcome.

When the streaming is good and if you’re willing to accept lower pciturte quality, ITVN is a decent adjunct to FSC’s coverage.

Not an issue for me next week: PILGRIMAGE TO GOODISON for the Zenit and Fulham games!

I usually listen to the games live on EvertonTV now and watch the highlights in the evening. Not quite the same as Goodison though.

Everton were on FSC a lot until Setanta came along. Bah Humbug.

Dave, I heard the commenters on the Fox Sports show. They weren’t implying that Arteta was eligible but were rather commenting on how the English side really lacks the technical skills as well as flair that other countries seem to produce. Their thought was that [if Arteta were English] he would walk right into the English side - but can’t crack the Spanish squad. They may be right.

I love the Fox Soccer Channel. great stuff. However, being in the US, it is very frustrating having to wait a few days for Everton TV to actually give us access to the games. What exactly is the reason for this? Anyone know?

I have my TiVo set up to record any time Everton are on Fox Soccer Channel. Looking at the next two weeks schedule the Zenit game is televised on 12/5 and there is a rerun of a game against the RS and also Derby. The reruns are always subject to change.

I’m a big fan of Arteta but I think if the "big spending four" were interested they’d have bought him already. Man Utd already bought Hargreaves and Carrick. Arsenal look for African diamonds in the rough. Rafa’s piggy bank has been taken away. Chelsea seem to be well stocked in midfield.

To Mick Hucknel, hopefully not a Simply Red. All premiership games are shown on the True TV channel who tap in to Sky TV so you can get the English commentary, the Thais are footie mad.and they all know Everton of course due to Chang sponsorship. I live here

Last couple of years its beem frustrating fo me living in Australia, becasue i could never see Eveton matches, they where only on when we where playin the big four.

But now Fox Sports Austrlia have a new interactive thing called viewers choice. i’m able to every everton game plus i cna flick to see other games. It’s pretty impressevie, plus the things they say bout us when ther preiviewing the game are realtively good. Things like Moysey has done a great job at Everton, and they love Arteta. They think his brilliant. Just wonderin is there any technology like this for sports in Brittian? By the way im not tryin to brag im just curious

I?d be amazed if Arteta walked into the England team. He would simply jink past the useless lot at pace and hit a low ball into the box to be smacked home by Yakubu. Sorry Joleon!
