McFadden to Birmingham?

Comments (20)

Now that Alex McLeish is the manager of Birmingham, it looks like we'll be receiving a bid for James McFadden from Birmingham in the January transfer window. Alex is a known admirer of McFadden and there is every chance that he will seize the opportunity to add McFadden to his strike-force.

McFadden has shown flashes of how deadly he can be in front of goal. But DM wants him to produce his brilliance on a consistent basis, which McFadden has been unable to do.

Do you think David Moyes will sell McFadden in the January window, with Victor & Yakubu off to Africa, no cant see it maybe in the summer though.

It would help if he got a game occasionally!

Can’t imagine that Faddy will hang around much longer hoping for a game when those in front of him are injured. If he has any hope of fulfilling his undoubted potential he’ll be off at the first opportunity.

I think Moyes might be tempted to let McFadden go in January despite the African Nations Cup. Didn’t he let Beattie go when we weren’t exactly coming down with strikers (or at least fit strikers).

Ron Marchant the problem with McFadden fufilling his "undoubted potential" is that it is very much doubted by many fans.

The People seems to think that a bid of 2.5 million would be enough to prise him away from Everton. HAHAHA

"Undoubted potential" don’t make me laugh.
McFadden has had four years at the club to show this undoubted potential, including one season when he played 29 games, and to date has just not managed to demonstrate this alleged potential.
If anybody were to offer £2.5m for McFadden I would gladly drive him, McFadden, to their ground !

Steady on John. There is no denying the lad has potential as his goals for Scotland and his few for us clearly display skill and class. The issue of consistency is the real issue and the one which reallly frustrates me.

In his defence though, I fail to remember the last time he’s started a game in order to develop the consistency element of his game.

Worth keeping for a couple more years as still young and it would kill me if he realised his potential at another premiership team.

Steve, I wouldn’t say David Healy was a good player yet he bangs them in at international level but is average at club level.

I’m still not convinced with Faddy. A few skills do not make a good player. It maybe nice on the eye but for me there’s no intelligence to his game. He has a poor touch despite being branded as technically gifted and he doesn’t have the pace or movement to hurt defenders.

At 24/25 he should be past his developing stage. Anichebe and Vaughan are at that stage in terms of developing there touch, technique, movement etc but Faddy should be scoring and playing on a regular basis. They also dont need runs in the team. Vaughan has 6 goals in 7 games whereas Anichebe has 9 goals and 14 games. McFadden’s goals to game ratio is poor compared to there’s. Yes you could say he has had alot of time on the wing but when he first came to the club he said he wasn’t sure what his best position was so Moyes’s played him in different positions to see what was his best.

I really hope the lad comes good as his hearts in it but I just dont see it happening. He probably needs to move on to further his career.

With Connor on this one lads.
Not convinced that JMac has got what it takes. The odd great goal does not make up for the average preformances he turns in when he gets a full start.
Reminds me of one Imre Varadi.

Provided the right price was offered and Vaughan, Johnson and Cahill were fit, I wouldn’t mind selling McFadden. Has to be more than 2,5 million though.
Especially at the end of january the risk is not that big. If we can catch at least five million for him I’d be happy to accept it. I really like McFadden when he’s on fire, but reality is that at Everton, he’s already surpassed by Vaughan and Anichebe, like other s have said before me. Getting 5 millions for your 5th choiche striker is good business.

Haven’t we got a fella up front called Lucas J ( I can’t spell his second name )...maybe it will be time to blood him in January?

If you include Cahill thats 4-ish strikers along with Johnson and Vaughan for the period of the african nations cup...why not take a good bid if offered for ’The Fadiator’....

I have nothing against Faddy (if you want to be he gay James YOU BE GAY!) but I think if Tiny Tim stays fit, Yak continues to grow into his blue shirt and likewise Vaughan and Anichebe, Faddy will be somehting of an attenuance. He could flourish at a new club (a la Beattie) and we could use the money made from the purchase wisely. Everyone’s happy!

I really like McFadden, his work rate is excellant and as we all know he can produce a moment of magic from nothing.

Having said that, I think we should cash in on him in January. We have four quality strikers plus Cahill so we would not be weakened in any way. If we were to get £3-4 million for him and add this to cash Moyes will have to spend (or so I hope!) we could finally get the quality centre-midfielder that we are crying out for.

If we get that midfield general we could then go back, if needed, to 442 with confidence that we will still be solid at the back.

I dont give a shite what he does for Scotland...it?s what he does for Everton that counts and on far,far too many occassions he?s spectacularly failed to deliver !!...SELL HIM and if anyone is prepared to pay £4 mill plus (as some media reports suggest)....BITE THEIR HAND OFF !!

The reported 2.5million is silly paper talk. When you look at some of the summer transfers (Chopra 6Mill, Harewood 4mill, Bent 17mill) 2.5million would be an absolute steal if it ws true. I personally would off load him, but it would be for no less than 5Million, hes still young and has a massive international reputation. He is 5th choice striker imo, that cash would come in handy hopefully towards Appiah in the summer.

Who, in their right mind, would pay £5m for McFadden ? If McLeish is stupid enough to pay that much then more fool him.
Steve, McFadden had 29 games in one season to prove his worth and failed dismally. Every time I saw his name on the team sheet my heart sank.
If anybody believes I am being a bit harsh then so be it. But I would not having a wee wager that Beattie may have scored more goals in one season than McFadden has in total. That is in 4 years at the club !

I personally really like him. Not only can he produce moments of magic when he plays his work rate is excellant and he gets stuck in.

That said, if I'm being honest he is my fifth-choice striker. Add to this Cahill and I begin to wonder if we could use cash from his sale to really push the boat out and use it and money Moyes obviously had at the end of the summer to buy that ball-playing midfield general we are crying out for.

I respect the fact that the game is all about opinions and we are ALL entitled to one but...’ his work rate is excellent and he gets stuck in...’ are we talking about the James McFadden who plays for Everton ??... Paul what games have you been watchin mate ?? They must be different from the ones I’ve seen and I go to most home AND away. A few good goals doesn’t make you a good player after all Paulo Wanchope scored a couple of crackers didnt he but I never wanted him in an Everton shirt....CASH IN ON HIM whilst we’ve got the chance ...he will never be more than a bit part player for us and will never be worth the money quoted in some press reports ( £4-£5 mil) in 12 mths time.
