Mikky

I am very happy about the victory today it wasn?t the better of first halves we had but the response in the second in heavy conditions was magnificent.

However, I would like to raise some questions about Arteta, I am one of his biggest defenders and think he is our best player but he looks tired at the moment and not that fresh, usually he is our main danger but in the last 5-6 games he is not that influential.

Given that we have hectic schedule and important games (Man U, Arsenal) in the next few weeks, I do think that he should be given some rest to refresh, seeing the kind of impact Cahill is making after his injury I think Mikky should be rested for some of the not-that-important games and replaced either by AvdM or by Gravesen with Osman moved to the right.

I can’t see AvdM getting another game unless we have an injury crisis of epic proportions. As for Mikel i just think he’s not in the best of form right now and he’ll play himself back into form. Thankfully as Ossie is playing well and Pienaar is showing his Ajax learnings along with Cahill back to what he does best we’re not struggling as a result of Mikel not being on top form. At least no one can accuse us of being a one man team any more, even if we know it was never the case despite Arteta being our most creative player.

Without Mikky we are nothing. Thats why Moyes needs to buy a quality midfielder. Only then can we really afford to rest players like Arteta. So until then, just keep doing your thing Mikky.

VDM will never play again for Everton why do some people want him to play.
I agree with Mark, we also need someone else to take wide free kicks other than Arteta, his corners also do not clear the first man, today Jags is moved to the near post and flicks on his corner for a goal as Moyes has obviously seen to many corners cleared by the man on the near post.

On the few occasions that I saw AvdM play for Everton, I have to admit he seemed to offer another outlet for the team, there where times when we all thought "ooh he can play can?t he", so let's keep him, let's train him, can he be the next Trever Steven?

Okay, Michael Kenwrick, can we please not allow any more posts by this George Brooks. He must be a wind up merchant. "Can he be the next Trever Steven?" Oh dear.

I think some of "Mikky is looking tired" actually comes from the fact that he’s no longer our only outlet. No wonder he got highlighted when every bit of creative play had to go through him. Now with Pienaar coming into his own and the team as a whole playing well, he’s not central to absolutely everything we do. Probably no bad thing, removes the pressure on him, and while he wasn’t at his most scintillating today I didn’t really see anything in his performance to worry me.

VDM does train every week and gets 30k for doing so, Dave Hickson has to meet and greet visitors to Goodison and probably earns 30 quid. Get real VDM cant even be bothered putting an effort in when he plays for the ressies.
Comparing VDM to Steven is like comparing Richard Wright to Neville Southall

We don’t need VDM to be the next Trevor Steven. Steven Pienaar is well on his way already.

Arshavin. We saw how good he is the other night.. Moyes should break the bank for him come Jan. Take some of the burden off Mikel..

Arshavin’s a good player but he’s more of a second striker than a midfielder in my opinion and thats not what we want. Weed need a central midfielder who can defend aswell as put his foot on the ball.

I wasn’t impressed as everyone else. He was decent in patches but nothing spectacular bar a few through balls. And saying that he was also playing against a central defensive partnership that have hardly played together. Every time he and Lescott came up one on one together Lescott dominated.

I’m not saying he isn’t talented because he is but I dont think he’s what we need. A Fernandes or Diaby would be perfect in my opinion but the problem is affording them.

Arshavin is pure class and would be a tremendous signing, he could play wide left or right in the Cahill role or as a second striker.

ADV is shite I seen him for the rezzies against the RS he was fucking awful and to think people want him in the first team. He as gone 1st Jan, end of story

Does anyone think AJ might leave in the January or summer transfer windows, his form since the first half of last season is worrying me, he just dosen?t look right

Connor the point is that the 2 trough balls he put into was nothing less then pure class, we are seeing what Yak is capable of when put one on one imagine with 2-3 trough balls from Arshavin what he can do.

I want also to point that I didnt suggest AVDM to start it was only an option, as the other option is to play Gravesen and Osman on the right just to rest Mikky.I agree that Pienaar is taking some of his responsibilities but when he is off to ANC Mikky will be jaded and we may strugle

Stefan
I don’t think Arteta has looked tired at all, especially not the the last five or six games as you have said. Did you not watch him against Sunderland?
Today he played very well but it was Pienaar’s turn to play a blinder.
Arteta was little muted against a strong and well organised Portsmouth side and against Chelsea likewise. We cannot expect him to dominate every game.
AVDM has played his last game for Everton, I would expect Moyes to experiment against AZ next week with the possibility of a few reserves getting a game, Rodwell springs to mind.

Tommy... barely two weeks ago AJ signed a contract extension and stated it was to demonstrate his commitment to the Blues and to help put an end to the endless speculation about him returning to London.

The lad is just back playing after futher operations, so is it any surprise he "doesn’t look right". AJ will be fine - this is not James BT we are talking about here.

Furthermore, given that we are losing the Yak and Victor to the ANC in January, do you really think that Moyes will let AJ or Faddy for that matter leave...?

Art fair shout but I just hope his dip in form was due to injury and he can recapture his form. I just look at our 5 strikers and 5 into 2 dont go and 5 into 1 defo dont go, he wont want to drop down the pecking order so he as got to get his form back sharpish with the likes of Vaugn and victor keeping him on his toes, good problem to have for Moyes though.

Mikel had a quiet one today by his standards, I think that was more to do with the conditions than anything to be honest

David Barks, you are really getting on my tits now. I dont particularly agree with George Brooks either but for you to suggest that Toffeeweb should stop his posts, you are a complete knob. Youve been living in the States too long pal...behaving like George Bush trying to enforce your shite on everyone else.

Stefan, I’m not denying Arshavin’s quality just think we should be aiming for a different type of player. A more central player. Arshavin position is Cahill’s position and if you want to get the best out of him you play him there. Would you swap him for Cahill? I wouldn’t personally. Cahill’s record speaks for itself and the way he makes players play around him is nothing short of spectacular. Look at both Yakubu and Johnson. Johnson started the season on fire alongside Cahill yet since then he has been a bit hit and miss. Cahill’s absences must have something to do with this. Yakubu on the other hand didn’t show his potential until Cahill came alongside him and since then he’s banged them in. 9 goals in 14 starts.

Cahill may not be a technically superb footballer but his impact on the team is bigger than Arteta’s. He creates space for others and lets them play there natural game.

Arshavin is different. He’s obviously creative and more of an attacking force. In England due to his height and stature he wouldn’t be able to play in his natural position unless he had alot of protection around him. For example strong and physical players. We dont have that and this would mean he would be moved out to the wing where he’s not as comfortable. He’s capable of playing there but it doesn’t let him use his vision, awareness and movement to his advantage which takes alot away from his game. He’s not a worker and he doesn’t have any defensive knowledge which would also take alot way from his game.

Dont get me wrong I like Arshavin. He’s a very intelligent player but not what we need at this moment in time. If we brought in a central midfielder alongside him then I would be made up but at this moment in time a central midfielder is the key. Just my opinion.

As I’ve said someone like Diaby or Fernandes would do but that might not be realistic.

Kieran Doyle,

What in the fuck mate. It was a joke, you know, funny haha. This guy started a post about how much he loved Wayne Rooney and was watching him today hoping he did well, which was at the same time that OUR Everton were playing and beating Fulham in a brilliant second half performance which this guy obviously missed. That post, subsequently, was shut down by Michael Kenrick and labeled as ridiculous by Michael. Then the guy came on here saying that Van Der Meyde could be the next Trever Steven, which you must admit, as others said, is the most ridiculous comparison that could be made. My God man lighten up a bit would ya. But please, don’t you ever put me in the same sentence with W. Bush. I don’t care if he posts ridiculous content, I was simply trying to say that there is no way that any Evertonian could possibly compare Andy with Trever.

Connor, totaly agree with your comments about Cahill who, in my books, is much more effective and consistent than Arteta who in my book is very good player on his day but overrated.

Sky put Arteta on its team of the week. Personally I think Pienaar should have been there. His skills are as good as Arteta and his workrate is far better. Just an opinion.

One more thing Kieran,

I’m in far too good a mood today to be upset with anything so I don’t want any hard feelings here. I don’t understand why you say I’m trying to enforce my shite on everyone else. He stated his opinion, I stated mine. But I was taking the piss regarding the blocking of his posts mate, that’s all. We all do it on here from time to time. I don’t know where this came from, if you had a few too many bevies and took what I said the wrong way, or if we have had some sort of serious disagreement in the past. I have read through some of your past comments and I think we are actually on the same wave length much of the time. So again, please understand that I was taking the piss here and nothing more.

Arteta is one of a very skilful midfield now. Pienarr, Osman, Cahill, Carsley all have different styles and do different jobs. They are all more likely to score and i think they are all as effective. El Ray made a comment we are nothing without Arteta. He would be missed but that statement is bollocks. We finally have a very good TEAM!
