Where have all the blue skies gone.

I dont have the information at hand to give exact details of when we had a runs such as we are currently experiencing. I am also aware I really enjoy walking to the ground talking with my mate about what the game is going to be like. No longer do I try to cry my luck about whether or not we will score a goal in the park end or not (the season before last we didn't see many).

Stupid I know but I used to worry if one of the first team was injured or someone had come in for Arteta. I actually believe now that, if we go one down, we play our way back, yes play, not claw our way back into a game.

We have been watching some lovely football coming out of Goodison Park by the boys in blue. When other clubs come calling for our players to join them I have confidence what the answer will be. I have always been proud to be an Evertonian and when I used to go ito work I used all of my political gerrymandering to argue my corner against the redshite. Now I can walk in head held high and argue a great case against anyone. We are going places and I am really yes really excited.

So come on boys instead of all this bickering and foghting and I have to say some negativity even in this climate (fancy slagging off Jimmy Mac who pulled us out of the fire at Metalist ) Get behind the boys. Not 8 minutes from Kirkby and did Earls business go bust and Wyness is a gobshite. This is your beloved blues you are talking about players, supporters and board. We are a magnificent club and are on the way to being a better one.

Come on You blues

I'm sorry, Mick, but our standard policy is open discussion about any aspect of Everton, from wonderful performances, fantastic goals, and "Isn't Moyesy doing great" ? right down to slagging off Jimmy Mac for a dreadful game, lies about 8 minutes from Kirkby, Earls business going bust and yes, some people still thinking Wyness is a gobshite.

If you don't want to talk about those things... don't talk about them! But don't come on here and decry other Evertonians who wish to talk about them. I won't have that, sorry. This isn't a communist state where you can't say a bad word about the politburo!

Please note, however, before the usual suspects chime in, open discussion does not extend to abuse of this website, its contributors, or its editors. Talk about Everton. Or not. It's your choice. Just don't try to stop others because you doin't share their viewpoint. And if that is of itself a viewpoint you don't share, then this is probably not the place for you.

Mick, I interpreted your letter slightly differently to Michael. I don’t believe you intended to tell all the doom-mongers to stop posting, merely highlighting that there are a lot of positives at the moment which we should all be enjoying. However I do agree with Michael that people are free to post whatever they like (within reason) as long as it concerns Everton, whether we agree with them or not. But back to your comments, I agree that it is a great run we are having and most blues do seem to have a spring in their step. Personally, I’m happy to sit up until 2:00 am to watch Everton, previously, I would tape it and watch it in the morning. Whatever the negatives around the club are, I am not even thinking about them at the moment, I’m just enjoying the great run of results.
The boo boys have had their moment in the sun when the team was struggling, now it’s the turn of the happier dispositioned among us to hog the limelight.

Michael, I think what Mick Mac is saying is that we Everton are doing well at the moment, there are so many posative things, the results, quality of football and players, competing on so many fronts, that to have so many topics and posts harranging the club, players and management is unfair.

No one wants to turn this into a communist state, but is interesting that Mr Marsh is oh so quiet when things are going well but he and his fellow "Doom mungers" are oh so loud when the slightest bad thing appears.

Of course we should be loud and vocal no matter what is happening, cheering the team, manager, board on when they do well or questioning their actions when they make mistakes.

What gets up my nose is that we have a "panto session" where Marsh and co are shouting "Oh no it isnt" but never "Oh yes it is".

I think it is fair to decry people who continualy appear to be the 5th Horseman of the appocolipse even when things are going well, the same would apply to people who always believe that everything is fine and dandy when we know it is not - latter days of W Smith for example (Shivers at bad memories!)

Fans have to take every issue on its merrit and not develop a mindset that everyting is either heaven or hell.

I agree that we should praise Mr Moyes and the team for the great form of recent weeks, and indeed the incrimental improvements over his entire tenure. However, these issues shouldnt detract from others if we feel there is a point to be made. Even if we had just won the European cup, Kirkby wouldn’t be anymore right (or wrong), nor would Mr Earl’s or Wyness’ assertions be anymore accurate, and would therefore merit responses on here.

Yes I agree with Mick that things on the pitch haven?t looked better for 20 years. The strength in depth of the squad. The general buzz around the club and the players is unique too.
But I feel the dark cloud is the ground move. We obviously need a bigger, better cash generating stadium. But I feel until this Kirkby issue is put to bed I?ll struggle to really look forward to far into the future with too much confidence.
I really don?t feel Kirkby is the right move (based on location, and the cheap stadium plans they?ve shown us).
I really don?t feel this stadium would attract the top stars. I know Goodison in its current state wont do that either.
Things on the pitch are really coming together, we really are a few players away from competing for Champs league places. However this Kirkby move is so divisive. It fragments so much of our fan base - I don?t see how it would be good for the club.
But yes apparently we need money to go anywhere else.
This brings me to my final point. Investment! Coventry City has attracted a billionaire to help with their current financial plight. Why can?t we attract someone? Yes Earl is on onboard but he doesn?t want to take the driving seat.

In summary, I?m delighted with Everton?s recent form, our good squad of players and the progress of the club. However if we get this Investment/Groundmove wrong it could destroy the club. I see the Investment/Ground move as similar issues. We need investment to get a new stadium (or rebuild GP) but with an attractive stadium in a good location you will attract even more investment in the future.

Phil I have to agree wuth you that irrespective of my beleif that the Kirkby move would be a sound commercial decision for the club. This is like Mordor hanging ove r the club and we will need a lord of the rings to pull it around.

Alisdair, thank you for having an open air with your assessment of my letter. You captured my point perfectly as did Mark and Phil.
Whenever there is an article in the press about Everton and it’s negative I dont half get annoyed so I write to them and offer my opinion that they dont give the blues an even break and would sooner write negatives about them. I have also wrote to the BBC asking why they always seemed to be on last on MOTD and when it came to the pundits talking about them and showing aspects of our game.
My point to all this is I have no problem at all with anyone talking about anything everton. I do not decry anyone for having a point of veiw either.

A couple of points:

Firstly, I have to agree that no-one should be discouraged from posting their opinion on any Everton related topic.

Secondly, I think it helps if it’s logical, well-argued and with a touch of humour. On this point where has Tony Marsh gone. I’m not jumping on the old "Everton are doing well, so Tony isn’t "bandwagon; it’s just that we haven’t heard from him in a very long time.

Finally, Mick Mac you write in to the papers & the BBC when they don’t give Everton their proper dues. I’m impressed. The next time there’s a discussion on Toffeeweb about what constitutes a "real fan" I’m posting to say that "Mick Mac" gets my vote.

Haha... why do I get the feeling I?m one of the targeted audience Micheal?

oh well btw Mick Mac I?m glad that you are enjoying matches more now and I
agree with Alisdair that maybe Michael could have read it wrong because It was only after reading his response that I saw anything that could be conscrued as critisism
