Bring the team to SA!

I would really love to see Moyes bring the team to South Africa during the next off season. Last off season I went to go and watch Spurs play against one the local teams, amazingly the stadium was packed to capacity. Everton has one of the biggest following in SA and I would like the management to explore this, cause I know where even bigger that Chiefs and Pirates (local giants) here.
Man U, Barcelona and a whole lot of teams have visited the country the last two year. We, the South African following are hungry to watch our team play or should I say slaughter our local teams! By the way, this is the best Everton sid I've seen in a long time. I wish to God we can play CL football soon, cause it kills me watching other English team doing well in Europe!

Why not Australia, too?
Tim Cahill is likely the most popular footballer in the coutry right now - move over Viduka, Kewell & Neill!
why not take advantage of that next preseason?

It might be a bit of superstition, but we have had successful seasons after each trip to the U.S. so I would not change a thing. Sorry mate, but don’t mess with a good thing. And with the dollar collapsing it will save Everton a bit of money too!!!!

David, now you’re on the subject of collapsing dollar: Shouldn’t Freddy Adu be really cheap now???

Freddy Adu just signed with Benfica a couple of months ago so the dollar will have no effect their mate, sorry. =)

Bring the Blues to the San Francisco Bay Area. Chelsea played here in the off-season.

Yeah, bring Everton to SA - South Australia that is. I haven’t seen them play live since 18 Jan 1972 when they beat Crystal Palace in a 3rd round Cup replay.

Last time I saw Everton play live at Goodison was in 1986 against Oxford. Neville Southall played 500+ games for Everton but he was injured and Bobby Mimms played instead. So I never got to see Southall play. Over the years whenever I visited England my kids and ex-wife wanted to go in June/July.
Five of my cousins are season ticket holders and several of them went to the game in Nurnberg. I’m hoping to get to Goodison in 2008.

Colin McPhail, It’s would be great to watch them against Ajax Cape Town! And yes, there a lot of younsters in the Ajax team. One in particular was sold a week ago to Hafia in Israel. Prolific goal scorer and included in Bafana for AFCON. (sold at R10m) By the way, Greenpoint Stadium is no more, the new stadium is being built on the golf course. If they are to tour SA in the next two years, its would be at Newlands or the newly built Athlone Stadium.

Greetings, fellow Capetonians, Australians and other assorted national groups. Ricardo, just felt compelled to point out that by saying Greenpoint Stadium is "no more," I feel you are being a bit ambiguous (with a decidedly negative connotation). It is no more in the sense of actual location and not, as I perceive you mean, in the sense of there no longer being a new stadium on the cards for Cape Town in 2010. It may not be what all fans would have wanted (bit like the Kirkby move, innit :), but a decision was taken by a panel of men who paid get paid obscene amounts of money to conduct feasibility studies, make detailed analyses and ultimately the hard calls (bit like the FA, innit ... okay, so maybe not the best analogy ;). Whether the conclusions these men have reached match those we would have formulated is irrelevant. What is decidedly relevant is getting behind their decisions (after we’ve vented our spleen if we insist :) and being positive about the World Cup in 2010, the first on African soil, as I’m sure I hardly need remind you. Oh, and cracking result last night by the way wasn’t it? Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination but a thoroughly deserved win over a team on the up at their own place. Another ’test’ passed, another hurdle successfully negotiated. Roll on semi - one game from Wembley! I am beginning to dream of Cup glory now that’s for sure. How long I have awaited this! COYB!!!
PS. Which of the remaining teams would others like to draw, now that we have booked our place? Its home and away so I fear no-one and believe we can beat anyone at home and most teams away!
Proudly Capetonian

I think efc should stick with a tried and proven system and stick with USA.I have been fortunate {apart from catching 2 games Reading,Bolton this season]I have nearly every game live in Australia so see how the team is developing.Being an old arse seeing the 60’s onwards I can appreciate what Moyes has achieved.WHU game not the greatest but results count long may it continue.Lets go for an unbeaten run and win the premiership why not dream.May our U.S.A. pre-seasons be the catalyst for great things.COYB
