Are the apologists due an apology?

Comments (16)

My view that David Moyes had increased our expectancy levels and my faith in his ability to continue to oversee our improvement until recently ?epitomised the apologist?s acceptance of mediocrity?. ?The more astute Evertonians knew better? you see. ?This season of promise had turned to shite?, ?the ditherer had returned? and ?we needed to sack Moyes and get Hiddink in?. Otherwise we could forget about a top a top ten finish this season and ?start thinking of a number between 15 and 20?.

Well, please forgive me this for having this ?self indulgent little rant? now whilst your all eating your words. But I know it would only take defeats from Arsenal and Utd over the festive season for you to be calling for the Scotsman?s head again (fickle?). By the way ? if you realistically expect anything from those games ? just think ?how much Moyes has raised our expectations? recently!

Before anyone starts throwing their toys out of the pram this was written in jest - (albeit with a little smugness)! I think it's great that we're all now on board together and long may in continue

I was one of those labelled an apologist. I didn’t like it. It’s not nice to be attacked by ’your own’ simply for sticking up for ’your own’.

However, and before we get carried away, I know some posh words and one of them is Hubris. So I’ll reserve judgment till the end of the season.

Moreover, not appreciating Blue on Blue, so to speak, I shalln’t have a go at those who attacked we apologists. I’d just encourage everyone to belay the digs and get behind the lads 100%. Let’s drive them on towards what we now increasingly all believe that they are capable of - great things!

Oh please, let?s not start this one up again. Before you know it you?ll have some saying "it?s four years too late" and others saying we?re going to win the league. I haven?t missed that term ?apologist? one bit, don?t drag it up now!!

I’m in your camp Mark, I love moyes and have always thought he was the best man for the job even in the bad times.

Good to see another Bluenose up here in Newcastle (I live just outside Gateshead). How funny is it to watch the toon get stuffed week in week out, and them still claim they are a ’big’ team. lol!

To claim hubris is a bold statement Chris; everyone on here believes in what they say, and i agree with you that sometimes people might believe a little too much in what they say (whether they have the facts or otherwise). Arrogance is rife on Internet messageboards so it doesn’t really apply.

Allan I wasn’t ’claiming’ hubris, I was merely stating I wasn’t going to fall into that trap myself.

More useless infighting. It seems a few people out there are obsessed with having the last word and ?winning? arguments. Debate is great and is the whole point of a forum but a lot of people out here seem out to start a fight and incapable of leaving out the pedantry. Its like berating someone for a typo.

I was always in favour of Moyes except for a couple of weeks around the whole Kroldrup affair. He?s recognised by a lot of other managers in the league as being the most successful young manager out there and with years of success ahead of him.

This is really starting to piss me off, you?d think we?d won the fucken treble or something, all these smug know alls coming on here saying I told you so need to calm themselves
I have never said a wrong word against DM but I think the guys who have been critical of him were perfectly entitled to be so. Have you forgotten weve watched season after season of garbage?
That wasn't always DM?s fault and he is progressing very nicely as a manager after an inconsistent apprenticeship
I can't wait to get to Upton Park tomorrow coz I love what I?m seeing at the moment, but please guys, a reality check. I?m excited too but before anymore football experts come on here spouting smug shite, let's at least attain the position in the league we occupied last year.

If I never hear the word ’apologist’ again that would suit me fine.

Never heard it in conversation until the start of this season & it wound me up no end, now its making a comeback and its doin my head in even more.

I looked it up in dictionary and everything & dont even think its the right word to use!!! just fuck it off for the likes of dumb son of a bitches like me ha ha.

Its a daft argument that people uder 12 have imagine two lads in school arguing...
"moyes is boss"
"no he’s not"
yes he is
no hes not
& so on & so on.

The people had a right to have a go when they did, this was always gonna be a big year for DM in terms of the 5 years he stated himself, so if we were playing shite then we had every right to complain jsut as now we have every right to be ecstatic because we are playing well. Anyone with this told you so attitude can go & stick it up thier arse as far as I am concerned.

What is it with us Blues?

There was no argument on here, just a little discussion, and statements like "I?d just encourage everyone to belay the digs and get behind the lads 100%.". So why are some getting het-up?

For example, Allan and I exchanged some civil comments and apparently this constitutes Internecine warfare :o(

Lighten up everyone. COYBB

Is he any good and how much do they want for him ?

Why am I waiting? Cos we aint won nothing yet and I?m not one to count my chickens. I really would look a "tit" if I slagged folk off now only to have to admit later Davy wasn?t the man we hope he is.

P.S. Thanks for the warm, brotherly comments. Merry Christmas.

P.P.S. Does anyone actually take the trouble to read and comprehend what folk are saying before they attack them? Some of you guys really don?t encourage others to express themselves here do you?

Where are all the Moyes haters now? I'd invite some to please come out of the woodwork and say now if they still want Moyes out. I realise it is much more likely that they will resurface when we next lose a game. At least I'd ask you to take a deep breath and acknowledge, to yourselves at least, that had we sacked Moyes when you wanted us to, we would be in a far worse off position now.
