Where's the Christmas spirit?

Just watched another excellant away performance this week by Everton that was completely soured by the West Ham stewards refusing to let Andy Johnson celebrate after scoring in front of the away section of Everton supporters. And then he get's booked! And to cap it all off, at the final whistle the Everton player's tried to throw their jerseys into the everton crowd and yet the stewards were acting as if the player's were bomb terrorists! What a bunch of wankers!
Still, I suppose after beating the home team AGAIN in the space of three days you would expect some of of hostility, even if West Ham didn't show it! Well done Everton today!

You wouldn’t believe how increadibly proud of the lads I am, and our manager. I watched the game today in the pub after work, which is a rare occassion, but im over the moon that I did especially after going out and failing to find a pub that was airing the Carling Cup game in midweek - this has made up for it.
The same 11 lads that gave their all on Wednesday night were the same 11 that did the same thing AGAIN this afternoon and I was completely awestruck. Such heart and dedication was running throughout that team and today I potentially witnessed the birth of a Goodison legend - and his name is Yakubu.
Utterly thrilled that we’ve come away from down south with 2 wins in 4 days.
Bring on the Mancs... and bring on the Arse - we’ll do them too!

We are by no means the finished product but ther’s no doubt i my mind that we are the real deal. Going places fast. The Twattenburg incident has proved a blessing in disguise. Ten wins, two very good away draws, playing the best football we’ve played in years and some absolute quality players on show. I have been the eternal optimist about this club my whole life and right now the only thing that could make me any happier is actually lifting the title itself.

The twattenburg incident really pisses me off still, we’d be above them now if it wasn’t for that.

First of all I find it silly you cant celebrate a goal without getting booked.
Stewards get specific instructions handed down to them from on high what they are supposed to do including preventing players going towards or into the crowd.
I thought the stewards at Goodison acted like prats in the Main Stand when a few Russians began singing from their seats, the Head Steward started acting like he was organising a pincer movement for the Royal Marines against a Taliban attack.
Many of the stewards at Goodison also work at Anfield and don’t necesarily support us. (like our postman) I wouldn’t be one for a gold clock with the abuse and threats they get even from home fans
The FA are the killjoys on goal celebrations the stewards are just the minnions who carry out the orders from them.

Made up with the result today. A real team effort with Howard crucially doing his bit too. Jeez if Yak and Johnson could form a productive partnership that would be something. I think Yak is slowly turning into the player we deeply wished Big Dunc would always become. At this point, can see him getting 20 goals this season no problem - when was the last time that happened?. Just need Man U to stuff the shite tomorrow for an excellent footballing weekend

Just watched the highlights on MOTD. Am I paranoid, or did it look like we got battered and stole 2 goals and had a coupla chances at the end. Sure they had a good bit of possession, but I thought we cruised in 2nd gear for most of the game like we knew that we could step it up anytime if we needed to. Thought both teams played some nice stuff first half. Trouble is they didn’t show any of ours. Nice shout about being last on from Neville after the game tho.
Actually, let them ignore us. Just means more humble pie for them. Like Tony Marsh, I’m made up that the standards we were brought up to believe in look like they are being reached a bit more often. Now if we could go into the Oldham gane and the semi still unbeaten.... The belief is coming back, in the team and amongst us. It doesn’t look like a bubble, it doesn’t feel like a bubble.Could be our time is coming again, it just could be.
Happy Christmas everyone. The chosen are posin.

I’m just joining in with the celebrations dotted about on the site. What about the contrast between our two goals today? Superb move involving all the forward midfield to set up Yakubu, and a nice time to score. And finally nothing like hoofball - a well placed long ball to the fastest man on the field as they pressed looking for an equaliser. Another nice time to score.
It can’t last for ever, only because nothing ever does. But its no bubble. Its genuine quality based on talent, sweat and wise heads.

I think we did ride our luck a little bit especially in the first half when they created 2 or 3 gilt-edged chances. Luckily we have a fantastic keeper between the sticks and we managed to keep them out.
Our defenders were also superb, yobo particularly. Neville I thought gave the ball away far too often for my liking, but he probably brings other qualities to the team.
That all said, when we had the ball the passing was delightful and progressive; some very neat one-touch football that any team would be proud of.
Infact the stats at the end of the game just showed that we shaded the possession, which away to a footballing side like west ham is no mean feat, especially with them being on a mission.
All we need is a midfielder similar to Scott Parker(but without the huge wages), who I thought was probably the best player on the pitch and there is no reason we can’t go on and win trophies regularly.

Has anyone got any statistics on our away points gained in London in the last year or two, versus the last 10 years? I’d imagine it was about 0.3 per game previously.

With the stats the amazing thing was that they were mostly in our favour! possesion was roughly equal (maybe coz it includes wham picking the ball out of the net several more times than us and having more kick ofs?) but SOT was 5-2 in our favour and Shotts off target was 7-5 in favour of them so we had the better chances, more chances and far more clinical.
