John Collins?!

He's just quit has Hibs manager, they are saying that it could be tied to the available Scotland job — of which I think he'd do a good job.
But we are still looking for an assistant — he know's the club and know's how to play good attractive passing football, which as we seem to be playing at the moment he'd fit in quite nicely. No?

Never rated the guy myself as a player, apparently a playmaker when we signed him but produced very little in the way of performances or goals when wearing a blue shirt. Certainly wouldnt be classed as an Evertonian and to me symptomatic of the Smith regime which I?m sure everyone connected with the Club wishes to forget.

Not quite sure what went on for him to with Hibs to make him quit but watch a lot of Scottish football whilst working there and he is highly regarded and has built a great very young team that has beaten both the auld firm teams this season already - last few weeks not as good but he is a new manager and as often said still learning the job. Can’t see him quite yet as second to DM as Holden appears to have that well in sight but why ot replace Holden with him as he has an eye for developing youth?

Stepping stone to what? Fulham?
Then again, He, Radzinski, Pembridge, Davies, McBride all did the same so something is right in that.

My memories of Collins are of a player who could only pass sideways and added very little to an admittedly average Smith side. He’s also a mouthy tool with a high opinion of himself. I hope we avoid him.
On the subject of an assistant manager. We seem to be doind much better since Irvine left. I’d wait until the summer to opoint a new assistant for Moyes.

All I remember of him is someone who promised a lot and then didn’t deliver, taking his ball home (scuse the pun) when WS didn’t carry on spending loads of cash the club didn’t have. Like so many before and since he went on to ’better things’ and was never heard of again. Good riddance and not for me thanks.

We have to let Moyes choose his own assistant. Just because Collins had a brief and very disappointing spell as an Everton player does not mean he derserves a place on Team-Moyes.
Moyes will eventually find someone to bring in or maybe even promote Andy Holden.

John Collins couldnt wait to leave this club, when your looking for an assistant you dont usually appoint a manager its a totally different job and I dont think Collins is an appropriate choice.

Didn’t see that he’d quit, but let’s face it why would he quit as No.1 (albeit in the Scottish Pub Leafue) to become a No.2.
Look for the announcement of Collins as new Scotland manager. Not the greatest timing after waxing lyrical yesterday on Sky about the new Hibs training facility. As I have said before, there is no place for loyalty it seems in the modern game.
P.S. He was shite for us, but was surrounded by a lot more shite as well. Another midfielder who looked great in the muppet leagues of France and Scotland, but couldn’t cut the mustard in the EPL. See Barry Ferguson for another example (nearly bought him as well if memory serves me right).

I was just about to post the very same.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come in. Fellow scot and all that, but for him personally, it would be a stepping stone into another Premier League club. Do we need that? Nah, don’t think so...

If being Scottish and an ex-player are criteria for being Moyesy’s mate, what’s Tiger McLaughlin doing these days? He was as good a player for us as John Collins was.

It is alittle known fact that in his first season with Everton, the Carling Opta people listed him as the player who made the most tackles in the Premier League. So, it would at least suggest that he got stuck in and had a go.
His ’ambition’ got the better of him though and seeing us as going nowhere under Smith and skint ( correct as it turned out ) he ran off to.... Fulham. Clearly money is a big factor to him. I see he cites his ’ ambition’ as the reason he left Hibs. He might just be a bit too ambitious to be happy living in the shadow of the Moyesiah!

He left Hibs knowing Fulham were going to sack Sanchez and he will get that job, the West End of London will appeal to him though Fulham are a small small club ask Tomas Radzinski and Sean Doherty

We don’t want him.. he is a gobshite.
I think it’s disgraceful how he has turned his back on Hibs.
