Sometimes even the worst refs have good games like Styles against Bolton. His play on for the Cahill goal was excellent refereeing.
The linesmen are the ones who need to get their act together and the offside rule needs clarifying, Dunn made an attempt to head the ball and the ref overuled the linesman but surely the goalie was interfered with

Clattenburg actually had a great game last season when we played Arsenal. He let the game be competitive and tough so the football would flow and it was a great game to watch.

Because Arsenal that day, and Fabregas in particular were extremely lacklustre. We were pretty comfortable all game.

If you remember back to the Arsenal game last year, very early on AJ was rugby tackled from behind by Lehmann but Clattenburg gave nothing. As clear cut a penalty as you’ll ever see. Also, in a game that wasn’t dirty by any stretch of the imagination, we managed to pick up 6 yellow cards to Arsenal’s 0. Clattenburg at his best. We just forgot all about it because we’d scored the winner in the last minute.

It’s not Clattenburg now it’s Martin Atkinson (Yorkshire)

Don't forget Fernandes - he was supreme in that game - he had Fabregas & co on their back sides. What a player bring him back!

James, in regards to that offside incident at Man City midweek, Styles was correct to over-rule his assistant. Dunn was well beyond the front post and was in no way ’in the line of vision’ between the goalkeeper and the ball. He was correctly deemed as passive before Cruz duly deposited the ball into the back of the net. On a side note, I think it’s only a matter of time before City drop off the pace.

I don’t think Clattenburg is a bad ref to be honest. His performance in the derby was shocking, but every ref has a bad game. I think people would do well to just forget it and move on. It’s getting pretty boring now.
