A Mug's game

Comments (8)

Just left the abysmal Oldham game... could rant for hours about that and waited to get my season ticket seat for the Chelsea Worthless Cup home game.

Can somebody (preferably at the club but that ain't going to happen) explain why an adult ticket at Chelski is £20 with under 16s and OAPs paying £10 while the club have been ever so generous to charge £31 for the Park End (not a suite a normal seat) and that is with a £3 discount!!!! People's Club my arse.

This is the same Chelsea who charge their fans £45 for European games whilst Everton have been charging £20 for theirs.

Sean that would be the same as Rangers charging me £40 to watch them play Stuttgart, Barcelona and Lyon but then again that was Champions League football the same as Chelsea not Uefa. It still doesn’t answer why the away game is so much cheaper at Chelsea.

Simple answer.

Chelsea have to reduce ticket prices in order to entice a full house. Like it or not a semi in the Carling Cup against Everton will not be seen as a huge match in the eyes of their fans.

On the other hand our home leg represents the biggest game in seasons for ourselves and therefore we are assured of a full house by charging full or marginally reduced prices. Lest we forget that the club are running a business after all!

I actually think that the club should be applauded for the reduced prices seen in earlier rounds and in the Uefa home ties this season.

Totally agree with Dave. This is a bigger game for us than it is for Chelsea. And how many times has our club been accused of not maximisng is revenue potential? Chelsea has not been philantropic. It realises that it won’t sell out unless it reduces the prices.

Ok guys fair points maybe this was my vented spleen from watching today’s debacle. Allan did you not get to Goodison today? Only asking as there were guys there buying tickets at the Park End box office after the match tonight for Tuesday and they seemed to have enough left.

Gavin - no, I wasn’t at the game today and I live in London so getting up to get a ticket for a London game is a no-no.

OS still won’t accept my bloody password, ggrrr
