Patrick Boyle

Comments (13)

I know it's just hours away from a very important match tonight, but I just can't resist asking anyone who knows anything about the situation of Patrick Boyle.

I remember he was to be our first choice left back at the beginning of last season, but then he got injured for almost the whole season. Now he's on trial at Plymouth Argyle for a possible permanent move? I remember I read a lot of positive comments here.

Can someone tell me something?

He's on trial at Plymouth and plays this evening in a reserve game with a view to a loan deal, similar to lucas?s, then who knows?? Remember Mark Hughes reserve team captain, moved to Northampton, maybe Boyle's surplus to requirements and moyes has better options at present.

We were clearly shown last weekend that our main fringe players can’t cut it. If these young lads can’t get ahead of these guys then I’m afraid there’s not much hope.

I guess the only question is how long should we give them?

The romantic in all of us hopes these young players make it though. I’d love to see paddy in the first team but I’m not the manager so I’ll leave judgement to Moyes. Just hope we don’t end up paying 6 million for him in a few years!

I’m a bit more concerned with Vidarsson than Boyle to be honest. He’s been with us for 3 or 4 years, touted as a future Everton first team player and has only made one substitute appearance for us. I think Moyes should use the youngsters more, like Boyle or Vidarsson, when in an injury crisis, and not play players like McFadden and Neville out of position. I mean McFadden and Gravesen were awful on Saturday and now they are our most creative players against a team of the calibre of Chelsea!! I’m scared!!

We have Baines, Valente and even Lescott who can play LB so I think Boyle is surplus to requirements. How old is he, 20 or 21? If he was good enough he would have had a decent run out by now, simple as.

Respect your opinion Joe but there are always one or two'll come back to bite us. Don't forget Jagielka and Baines cost us 10mill and were let go as youngsters.

A sickener but takes 3/4 of the game to have a shot on goal and Chelsea the team going for it with ten men. Woefully inadequate midfield display, incapable of holding up the ball that hopefully can be put right to salvage something from the second leg

I felt sorry for Yakubu. Worked his bollocks off, gets us level and then comes off and see’s Chelsea score!

Howard should have came and collected that ball. Lescott was stationery, he couldn’t move because that was his starting position allowing Wright Phillips to attack the ball and get a leap which to me looked like he nudged / climbed on Lescott anyway.

Do you think it was miscommunication between the 2 of them? Lescott should have won the header no dount (and possibly should have scored moments later) but I don’t think Howard can be too much to blame - unless of course he’d claimed it!

Got to agree with you Anthony. The first half Chelsea were by far the better side, they were first to every ball, and played some excellent stuff, and we were lucky to go in only 1 goal down. The 2nd half (apart from maybe 10-15 mins)it was more of the same from Chelsea.Great goal from the Yak,and that has deffo kept us in the game. The only problem for me,is that I can see them scoring at Goodison.

I feel sick. That goal was beyond a joke. Why don’t I just lose interest and find something else to be obsessed with cause I feel cursed.

Always the fucking same, we fuck up at the end.

Can?t really have a go at lescott because he has been brilliant. i would say Howard should have come for it.

This game just shows that Moyes had better buy in january, because we were crap in midfield, men against boys, no creativity, gave the ball away more times than i can remember, porr first touch, it looked like they had never played together before.

I agree witht he comment that they will score at goodison and I cannot see us winning by 2 clear goals so it could be pens!!

Gutted!!
