True Blue Emissaries

Comments (24)

Just wanted to congratulate every single man jack of the away support from last night. I managed to nab/blag a box ticket for last night and the away support was an absolute joy to behold and reinforced my already immense pride to be a blue. One of the comments from the group I was with was 'that's what you call proper support...'

Seems I'm not the only one to thing so either...this letter was sent to F365 from a Chelsea fan

"Just wanted to say that the Everton fans were amazing last night. Although we eventually won the game, their spirit and singing was remarkable throughout the entire 90 minutes. Although they often get lumped into the same bracket as Liverpool for being scousers, they form an incredible travelling support and full credit to them."

Yep watching the game on Sky last night the Everton fans were all i could hear the majority of the time. The director kept going to them - they were brilliant!

Thanks Richard your comments are appreciated, ask your mates to drop the "your on the dole" chants, it makes your support look very silly when it costs so much to watch football these days.

I call on all those who attend the return legaue cup leg at Goodison to turn Goodison into a Cauldron of noise and song. Unfortunately I will not be able to get over, but I really believe the only way we can go through is if ever player plays out of their skin and the fans become the 12th man. Make it loud, intimidating, hostile; create an atmosphere that the Chelsea players will never have experienced. This could be the most special of nights and turn into a night to be remembered. Believe!

PS just like to thank all those who travelled to Stamford Bridge last night you were amazing!

Lets look at it another way - if it’d ended 1-1 then we’d have needed to score a goal at home to win right because away goals only count after extra time. We lost 2-1 which means we need to score a goal anyway so the loss doesn’t really make any difference.

I cant believe Im the only person whose noticed this fact?!

Alan, Goodison 0-0 (1-1 on Agg) at full time; extra time. No goals. 1-1 on Agg. Who wins?

We would not have needed to score. It is not the same.

Michael, I said it doesnt ’really’ make any difference - we still need to score a goal is my point. I’m just trying to be positive, something I often see you struggling to do. :))

Alan, I’m trying to be positively correct in correcting your negatively wrong thinking.

You state "if it?d ended 1-1 then we?d have needed to score a goal at home to win" ? that is a negative, incorrect, false, bad, erroneous statement, as my positively accurate analysis clearly shows.

Just admit you were wrong. Go on; it’s a positive thing... it will improve you as a person.

I would just like to point out as a lifelong Toffee fan originally from South Africa and living in London that every time I have sat with the blues in the away end it has been fantastic.

Last night I watched on telly but all you could hear was the away fans, the sleeping giant is steadily waking.

On new years day I was at the Riverside to watch us beat a poor Boro team 2-0 other than two very well taken goals what impressed me most was 1. We adopted and stole Boros Team Anthem as our own with da da da da Andy Johnson, the home crowd were stunned before the game had started
2. There was a little boy sitting next to me no older than three years old singing that same song at the most impromptu times it was brilliant.

We are a massive club and we are going in the right direction, lets bring the Russians to Goodison and give them what Vaughn!

COYB!

Not my mates, just managed to nab a ticket... you’re right about the ’sign on jibes but then again I did hear a few renditions of ’he’s only a poor little cockney’...all part of the fun I guess.

it was amazing last night, the blue boys did us proud,
when i stepped out to the whole away end last night and saw and heard our support, it brought tears to my eyes and
we tottaly sang our hearts out and it was the probably the only loss i’ll ever care to remember, WE MUST MAKE IT THE SAME AT GOODISON AS THAT IS WHAT WILL SLING THE TIE IN OUR FAVOUR.
ps moyes gets soem flair players in quick

Michael / Allan:

If it was 1-1 in the first leg (hypothetically) and 0-0 at full time in the second leg, there would be no extra time, in fact the only result that would’ve resulted in extra time in that scenario would be 1-1 at full time in the second leg.

Chris, as I understand it, they play extra time in the second leg if the aggregate score is tied. But the away goals are only considered as double if the aggreagate score is still tied after extra time.

My apologies Richard, I did not read your post correctly, please excuse me.

So Michael can you confirm for me as I do not know. If we were to win 1-0 after extra time, we would be through on away goals?? Thanks
Richard Porter

Chris,

Yes we would.

Any 1 goal lead after 90 minutes would mean extra time.

Any two goal victory or 1-0 (aet) would put us through. 2-1 (aet) would mean penalties, any other result, we lose.

Away goals count double at the end of extra time.

We would have to be leading by one goal after 90 mins for this to happen.

The only result that would lead to pens after extera time is 2-1 victory.

A 1-0 win would see us through on away goals.

A 3-2/4-3 etc victory would see Chelsea through.

(I’d take extra time now!!)

Our away support is second to none, They are there hail rain and snow giving it loads, FANTASTIC. Only thing that annoys me, is a lot of them never got a vote on the ground move. SHAME ON YOU WYNESS.

With out doubt are away fans are in a class of their own and always have been since I started going to away games in the 60s(I dont mean I have anything to do with it) but how I wish we could transfer that level of support to home games.

The commetns from the 365 supporter re Scousers/Liverpool supporters is that we are seen everywhere as just lapdogs of LFC and are tarred with the same brush re the disasters/tragedies involving their supporters..People forget we have our own identity!! it?s only when they see us up close do they realise we are different and we support our team differently. The comment re they are true suporters meaning us Evertonians I?ve heard before in London, a few years ago when we played Fulham at Loftus Road in the cuo replay.. I was in the Springbok pub? Next to the ground and got into conversation with a few Fulham supporters who said (whilst the Evertonians where singing and dancing on the pub tables), "This is what we miss, proper football supporters, we don?t get that in London anymore!" Made me feel proud!!

Well stands to reason doesn’t it, for after all...

1 Evertonian is worth 20 liverpudlians and probably 19 of any body else.

That?s right Derek - there are only two types of people in the world - Scousers and those who would like to be!!
