Reserves

I'm off to the reserve game with Man U tonight... I reckon it should be good: in addition to the usual suspects for the resrves (but no VDM because of injury, and Jutkiewicz and Boyle are both at Plymouth, aren't they?), Baines, Vaughan and Anichebe are all playing, which I'm looking forward to.

Everton: Ruddy, Densmore, Baines, Irving, Dennehy, Rodwell, Morrison, Vidarsson, Vaughan, Anichebe, Kissock. Subs: Harpur, Stubhaug, Downes, Agard, O'Kane

Man Utd: Zieler, Neville, Simpson, Eckersley, Chester, Hewson, Gray, R. Jones, Brandy, Dong, S. Evans. Subs: Cathcart, Heaton, Lea, Cleverley, Fagan

I think with Vaughan and Anichebe in, we'll have a good chance of winning ? which would move us ahead of Man Utd in the Reserve League table.

Let us know how the game went mate, ta. Also an analysis of JP Kissock, Vidarsson, and Rodwell would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Everton Reserves secured a deserved 2-2 draw with manchester United.

Goals from Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan earned the Blues a share of the spoils

Nice one Jimmy. Manny isn’t even in the country. Now since when as Victor or Vaughny had any hair let alone long hair.

The only fella I know for the ressies with long hair is JP Kissock. Maybe you grandson thought he scored for some reason.

Kissock put the ball in for one of the goals.

We played very well- were 2-0 up, and then at 2-1 we had Irving sent off which kind of put the pressure on us for the whole second half. I thought the red card was slightly harsh- he was last man but the forward was running slightly away from goal. Penalty was saved anyway.

Rodwell I’ve been impressed with all season- today he played midfield in the first half and his distribution to the wings was very good- a few times he picked out Kissock or Baines in advanced positions on the elft with long diagonal balls from the halfway line. He moved into defence after the red card, which is where he’s played most of the times I’ve seen him. He’s very calm- both in his challenges for the ball and his distribution once he gets it. I think he has the potential to be a real gem, and I think he may even be the long term man to play the Carsley midfield role in a couple of years time.

Kissock will either go on to be a star or sink into oblivion- he tries things that are just a bit too elaborate sometimes, but when he runs with the ball, you have to sit up and take notice. he’s very lightweight (imagine a skinnier Osman with a Leo Sayer wig) but he benefited today from having Baines in support so if he got muscled off the ball, there was someone to win it back for him- something he doesn’t normally get from Paddy Boyle. I’d like to see JP break into the first team sometime in 2008, just to see how he copes. He’s full of potential and regularly outperforms AvdM when they’re the wing partnership.

Vidarsson, I’m still not sure about. He’s a very tidy player and a decent distributor of the ball, but I’m not sure he’d show the same composure when up against Premier League players.

In short- Rodwell will be a star. JPK is so exciting I hope he can be, and with Vidarsson I just can’t decide. Maybe a loan move to Preston, which I’d heard rumours about, would help- see how his composure stands up in a more competitive environment.(same might help JPK as well, to be honest)

Cheers Richard, your analysis was much appreciated.

Not seen the ressies this season, but I was under the impression that JP had bulked up somewhat, and he certainly seemed chunkier in the mini-derby (I watched that one on LFC tv on setanta - anyone heard the rumour that they were putting up an EFC tv channel?)

I saw the name "O?Kane" on the subs bench and I was just wondering if that was John O?Kane, the "promising youngster" Kendall signed from Utd, still hanging in there.

Kieran- fortunately not! He’s a young Irish kid called Eunan O’Kane.

Steve Ferns, I did see a mention of an EFC TV channel either on here or the OS.

Hope it’s up and running soon as I daren’t switch on the sports channels here in Thailand when there’s no live games for fear of getting ManUre TV, RS TV or Chelsea TV.

It’s the wave of the future when we’ll be able to say bollocks to Sky et al and sell the broadcasts to whoever we want and put the money back into the club.
