Who Will Be Carsley's Successor???? Maybe this thread has been written 6 months too early, but upon reading the previous thread in regards to signing Fernandes (Assuming he comes in on loan) & Pienaar on a pernament basis, the topic of Carsley's successor was brought up. Everyone said we need to eventually replace him, because, let's face it, he ain't gonna be around for too much longer. But no one gave any suggestions of who it should be. So who should Everton realistically target as Carsley's successor??

Grrrrrrrrr.... Come on folks. My FM meter is twitching badly! Cars is playing the best football of his career. Yes, he's not getting any younger, but he's not through yet, and he could keep going for a lot more than 6 months.

Plus, as with all FM concerns, your crystal ball gazing is meaningless, You have no idea who David Moyes might be considering as a replacement, no matter how much you may think you understand him. And there is no way you will find out until such player is actually signed. So what's the point?

But, there's obviously plenty of you who can't get by without mindless speculation so this is what I'll do, since it is the transfer window: Here's your FM thread. Have at it, to your hearts content. Tell me when you're done and I can close it!

I read in the Mirror today that Everton have rejected a £5m bid from M'boro for McFadden, which has prompted Alex Mcleish to bid £5.5m today. Does anyone know if there is any thruth in this... seeing as it was read in the mirror!?!

Also what does everyone think of selling McFadden to fund the purchase of Arsenals Diarra? Dont get me wrong, I'm actually one of McFadden's biggest fans, i just think given the choice, I would rather put Diarra on the pitch.

Can we please bite off Birmingham's hand and get rid off the enigmatic McFadden ? If he had passed to Cahill on Tuesday instead of trying an impossible shot we would be sitting pretty now. Not for the first time has his greed cost us dear. Scottish Rooney my arse!

Would anyone be willing to see James McFadden to go for around £5million and use that money as part payment to see us bring Defoe to the club, now that he is available?

If you think about it, there aren't many options for him in the Premier League, I can't see the top 4 being willing to take him, for one reason or another... Wenger doesn't buy English, Ferguson wants Berbatov, Grant wants Anelka & Rafa is hardly in a position to shell out £10M+ on another player at the moment imo!

Lighten up Michael, you old grinch!! Sounds like you never got Football manager 08 for Xmas an you havent got Yakubu at everton tut tut Ma Kenrick!!!ha ha

Whats the point in watching football if we cant speculate about our team and possible players, as long as its kept realistic then there is no problem.

I think if we wanna be a top team, as in challenging for title in next 10 years then we may have just got our next midfield linchpin.......Manny

He is more a european type holding player who not only breaks play up but can start a move and we have all seen his ability with the ball, he played in that role for Portuagl U-21’s and they know a fair bit about players in that role as they’ve had some belters recently (Maniche, Petit & Costinha)

Imagine a team built around the spine of Howard, Lescot & Yobo, Manny, Mikel & Tim with the Yak and Aj as forwards........looks bloody good to me!

Lee Carsley has at least 2 more years in him, no need to panic just yet.

Yes Carsley should be good for another 2 seasons. I mean look at Giggs and Scholes still playing at the top level at their age.

Carsley may have time left in him, but at the end of the 4th place season he picked up an injury that kept him out for almost a year and that cost us big time. We need cover for him sooner rather than later, at least a loan signing to see us through this season. Also, the longer he goes on, the less games he will play. Look at Stubbsy.

We should of gone for Robbie Savage,
Cant really see any possability of Diarra coming to us.

Paul Whitehouse!!! Are you mad, Savage is a complete useless tosser, why the fuck would a club moving forward want some useless taff?

Is that the sister looking for you?

Well I just got Gilberto from Arsenal on Fifa 08 in manager mode for a snip! He’s fitting in well. I’ve now lodged a bid for Messi and I’m waiting for a reply :)

Chris, lay off with the useless taff jibes. Just useless t##t will do.

Carsley’s position is a really hard one to fill as i don’t think there are too many decent avliable players for transfer.

Going into semi FM mode.....with some evidence provided by watching games on the telebox some DMs I can seriously recommend are:

Miguel Veloso (Lisboa)
Lorik Cana (Marseille)
Patrice Araujo (Mexico) also a CB
Ezequiel Garay (R Santander) aslo a CB (the shite are interested in this fella)

Tomas Sivok (Sparta Prague)
Fernando Gago (R Madrid)

Oh well... we can dream

I?m waiting to be shot down on this one but how about Lescott.
As a more sensible option doesnt Abelda fit that sort of role.

Ah well guess I?ll have to settle for Diarra.

Lescott

The way he brings the ball out of defence reminds me of Beckenbauer at his best. Buy another Central Defender and put Joleon in Carsley’s spot.

I’ll vote and pray for another couple of good years from Cars. But, of course, he has to be covered, and the club surely have worked this out. The most unlikely thing that DM is going to do is to bring in a big signing to take his place right now.

Cover? Fernandes possibly, and the idea of Lescott in an emergency made me think - and it could work long term too. But watch out for someone being groomed for the job, possibly an import but not necessarily.

South African defender Morris wants to be a toffee.

This week Nasief Morris said he would love a move to the Premiership and ambitious clubs like Spurs Everton or Newcastle would be his only move away from Greek Giants Panathanaikos. When asked if bigger clubs come knocking, he responded that all the clubs he played for h never warmed benches and his not intenting to soon. According to some reports Wenger was very impressed with him and went as far as saying he was one of the best defender Thierry Henry played against.

Being rated the one of the best defenders in Greece and better rated than SA captain Aaron Mokoena, lots of champions league experience and has done well against lots of English clubs, can he be a good addition to our squad?
