Who actually owns Manny?

Comments (11)

Sorry to have to post another question regardin Manuel Fernandes, but the information just isn't coming out of the club at all. I reckon they must monitor this website as answers to questions raised here seem to come out fairly soon.

Looking at Manny's comments regarding his thrid party ownership and why he didn't come in the summer, he indicates 3rd party ownership in the present tense only ? ie he is still owned by a someone else. Does anyone know for sure ?

Hopefully this is only a language difficulty ? can you imagine us losing points at the end of the season due to a technicality which wasn't sorted out ?

This is what he says on icliverpool.co.uk (Echo and Post) ?If I hadn?t have wanted to come here in the first place, I wouldn?t have. But the other group that owns me meant it was difficult for me to come here, but hopefully it can happen this summer.?

Lets hope the club secretary has all this boxed off !

Lets give him the opportunity to prove himself before we worry about who owns him.

He has to earn a permanent move.

If he does enough to warrant a permanent move then we can worry about who owns him.

I’m pretty sure we are not going to lose any points, we had him last year and didnt so why should it be any different now? and it that was part of the problem over the summer due to the fact you cant have third party ownership. If he would have been owned 100% by benfica he should have been ours now but lets hope things are sorted so we can make him and Pienaar permanent signings.

Arteta - Fernandes - Carsley - Cahill - Pienaar

who would have thought of that midfield?

From memory, when the deal went through last year, Valencia bought him outright which is why we were able to get him on loan this time with a view to buying at the end.

DM has already stated that one of the reasons he’s back is because its easier now.

I’m pretty sure Valencia own him fully.

Valencia own him fully, they bought out the third party as part of deal to bring him from Benfica in summer.

Has anyone thought that if he does what we know he can & we try to buy him in summer that we could effectivly be getting a player DM was willing to pay £12m for, for between £7m and £10m?? That has gotta be good

Where did the 7-10M figure come from John?

Also i thought what happened with his transfer to Valencia was that we were trying to buy him outright for 12M - 6M for Benfica and 6M for his third party owners and at the last minute Valencia came in and offered 10M for 50% of his ownership blowing our 6M deal out of the water. Apparantly Spanish clubs werent restricted from having third party ownership, unlike the premiership.
At least thats the story that done the rounds at the time.

When everyone is back from, Africa, when everyone is fit are we all thinking of THAT team to line up at Goodison? The best team we have possibly fielded for years...

Howard Neville Yobo Lescott Baines Arteta Fernandes Cahill Pienaar Osman Yakubu

No carsley? - I would have left Ossie on the bench and have carsley in...he is class. Howard, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Neville, Carsley, Fernandes, Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta, Yakubu - what a team COYB

Seth how can you leave super Lee Carsley out of your line up for me he has been player of the season so far!!!

I think Carsley has to retain the holding position, people forget Manny is still very young and I think it will be a couple of years before he would have the discipline to play as an out and out holding midfeilder a la Cars week in week out, How exciting though the prospect of a midfield constisting of Pienarr, Atreta and Manny with Cahill playing just off the Yak, Ossie can fill in and do a job in any of our 4 attacking mid positions as well, I cant wait!

To be honest Seamus, its an estimation based on the fact that Valencia want him out sharpish & what we would be willing to pay for him. Also the third party have been removed so all sale money would go to Valencia. I have heard that we have a buy clause as part of the loan deal, that is only rumour at minute & I dont know how much for mate

Yeah John, i heard it mentioned somewhere that an option to buy at the end of the season was part of the deal. Would be great to get him for less than what we originally were going to pay - would be interesting to know exactly how much though!
