Nuno Valente

While reading the posts on this site I realised no-one has mentioned anything about Valente. I think he has played as well as any of the back four since being brought into the side.

I’d have to agree that from what i’ve seen of late Valente has been superb. I also think despite it being seen as out of position by Baines and Moyes that Baines has all the attributes to excel on the left wing.

I’ve always thought Nuno has the ability, i guess it’s just that he’s been turned a little too easily on occasion and has seemed a little injury prone. Let’s hope his good form continues!

And just after my post the team has been revealved and Valente replaced by Baines at left back!

Has anyone else noticed that he seems to have had the shit kicked out of him in the last couple of matches too? Brave lad.

That must be why dropped him today then! I imagine that at 5.9 he’s too big for the midget side The Moyestro likes to send out these days!

Tactics seemingly SHOULD have worked though. Seems like hit post, clear penalty disallowed and a goal incorrectly ruled offside. Gutted.

I disagree with the lot of you. I think Nuno Valente is the worst possible option at left back. I'd rather young Patrick Boyle to be there before Nuno. Nuno is easily turned, won't track back more than 20 feet, and has no pace to cope with a decent winger.
