Poor Ref.....again..

Comments (4)

After watching another poor performance from the ref, why, oh why, do we have to put up with such poor performances on a weekly basis? It is not just Everton that are given poor refs. It happens across the board. How often do referees get criticised from managers after games?

Poor performances from refs seem to be part and parcel of the game. With some of the decisions made today, you have to wonder what game the ref is watching. It amazes me at times.

What can be done about it? I believe that we fans have no power at all to sort this out. It seems we just have to accept it. The FA say all the refs are fully qualified, and that refeerees are held accountable for mistakes etc, etc, but bottom line is, it seems poor referee performances like today are here to stay. When ever do we see a decent ref?

As a four sport official in the U.S. (Football, American Football, Baseball and Basketball), I would like to point out that officiating is very demanding but it is rewarding. One idea is to add another referee-there are 22 players out there and believe me, there is a lot going on. One thing I like about working American football is that we have a crew and we can cover alot of the "off the ball" happenings. I have read about a possible experiment with 2 referees and 2 linesmen. I think that this would be a step in the right direction. Regarding offside, it can be a tough call and there is a lot of gray in the interpretation of if a player is interfering. I would like to see this clarified

Hate to disagree with you Rich but I thought the ref was fair. He can’t be blamed for the lousy football and in my opinion tried to let us play. That we chose not to was not his fault.

I watched the game on the tele and I thought the ref actually did a good job (hurts to say it after last weeks game but that’s what I honestly think).
He seemed to call most of everything fair and square and allowed the game to flow where he could.
Not that "flow" is the best word I’d use for today’s game.
I will say Vaughn was awesome today (pity he didn’t score from that overhead kick).

Three points though!!

Yes the ref did make mistakes. The main one being that he didn’t send Cars off. Good job we didn’t have twattenberg, Carsleys tackle was much worse than Bowyers.
