What was up with him yesterday? Is he injured? He didn't look in the slightest bit arsed considering he's playing for a contract. I'd love him to do well and show his form from last season but I was really disappointed with him yesterday.

Gotta feel sorry for the lad, signed for Valencia at teh alst minute was played in no less than 6 diff positions during his short spell at the club, was often dropped and used as sub often.

Then next thing hes on merseyside amd thrown straight into a carling cup semi. I think teh lad is finding his feet again in terms of fitness, form and understanding again. hes only young and just needs a period of adjustment.

One things for certain with 12 games to go id rather have him than not have him.

Were Fernades’ performances for us last season a flash in the pan?

Why did he not played very much for Valencia? Is it because his performances were as poor as they have been for us so far?

Let us hope he is not another Terry Curran.

I sincerely hope he pulls through, starting against Brann.

I dont think Everton know how or where to play him.

He, in my opinion struggles in the same eam as Carsley.

I dont believe despite what others have said about his preferred position that he is a holding midfielder>

He would be suited if he performs to his potential in a 4141 formation or a 4132 formation as the central position. this would then be playing with the potential of wingbacks

Neville yobo Lescott Baines

carsley

Arteta Fernandes Piennar

Vaughn

Yakubu.

You can argue Jags for yobo and Osman slotting in when require or when and if we play 451 away from home or Europe.

I think this will get the best out of Fernandes.

Maybe he was just knackered after Portugal?s U21 games (as reported in ICLiverpool site) .

It?s common knowledge that he still isn?t match fit, so I?m sure that he will improve. People have also referred to his unsettled recent past and not knowing the his best position, I?m sure they are factors.

Personally want him to succeed, I believe with Manny, Arteta, Piennar, Osman and Cahill to choose from we will have our best midfield for years, almost a match for the big 3! I also think his best position is as a holding midfielder, replacing Carsley, but it?s only my opinion and counts for very little.

Kinda the same thread that I got slated for last week. Now one more poor performance down the line and a few more people are asking questions. Its early days, but I can’t see him settling here. Its February now so he’s only got until May to warrant a contract. To be honest I didn’t rate him that highly first time round. Now little Pienaar, thats a different matter, get him signed Moyesy!

Marcus, in order for our midfield to be ’a match for the big 3’, they need to perform consistently week in, week out. They may look good on paper however, our midfield players quite clearly do not perform consistently (especially Osman and Arteta) and are therefore nowhere near being a match for the big 3. In fact I would say its the weakest part of our team.

Steve, I did say ?almost? a match, but I stand by the fact that this could be our best midfield in a long time. I don?t disagree that they don?t perform every week, but who does? Whatever you think, this team is making a decent claim for a CL spot, that makes us no less consistent than all the teams below us, despite the fact that our resources are generally more limited.

I?m not suggesting the team or Moyes are beyond criticism or that paying supporters aren?t entitled to moan, but we should keep a proper persective on things. L?pool Chelsea had an embarrasement of riches on display yesterday and what did they produce?

He’s 21, hasnt played for 6 months, and is in a team not in the greatest of form...

(just thought, 4 prem wins, 2 draws from last 6 and can still say we are not in great form, is this really everton?)

...anyway, given time he will be a class act, however he is young but after his exploits against man u, arsenal last season we all of a sudden imagined god had just entered our midsts. He was in and out last season, but so is every single player in the league. The point with manny is, when he is in he makes a difference, scores a goal or something magical that makes you enjoy football, when he is out he isnt doing that magical stuff, but everything else is done to a reasonable standard.

Any other 21 year old is given time, it wont be til he’s 25/6 that he’ll be world class, he’s got 5 years of improvement. Of all the world class players only Ronaldo and C Ronaldo have done it so young the rest not until 25+...Rooney not yet made the consistant imapact to be considered world class.
