Gazza: Sad to read

Comments (6)

This article appears on the BBC website today. It's a shame to see how far from grace this once great player has fallen. He may not have been at Everton for long, but he was certainly an entertainer on his day and I hope he can, with the right help, get some kind of handle on his life before he pays the ultimate price.

Incidentally, note the good old Beeb ignoring us again. Check the list at the end of the article naming the clubs they say Gazza played for. No mention of us, I see.

For Gazza read Wayne Rooney in 20 years.

But what a wonderful 20 years it could be.

we’ll always have Leyton Orient - he was magic that day (says it all really).

Tonight’s match (watched in Moscow courtesy of Everton TV):

Goodison - you sounded heaven sent!

Yak - surely the equivalent of 100 hail marys and a good few our fathers

AJ - the boy is going nowhere - that 25 yard dipper was the icing on the cake but that lad would bleed for the club, ran all day and two cracking goals.

Peanut - he’s too good, simple as. £2.5m - TK Maxx don’t do better steals than that

Fernandes - hit and miss to start but the boy passes like a heat-seaking surface-to-air missile - sign him NOW

Arteta - plays like the very best soft porn

Could go on but...

Moyes - wouldn’t swap you for anyone.

Let?s not get too paranoid - it was only after reading the article that I remembered he?d played for us.

If it makes you feel any better I was listening to "quote..unquote" on Radio 4 the other day and they asked the panel who?d come out with that quote of football being more important that life or death. No-one knew, so the quizmaster revealed it be by "That famous Scottish football manager, Bill Shankly" .

To be fair Brian, I think Rooney has actually matured quite a bit and has a relatively sensible head (albeit a very large one) on his shoulders for someone his age. I may be proven wrong.

Hope Gazza is ok - I?m sure it?s being blown out of proportion a bit - ever been pissed in a hotel in the middle of the night and demanded the bar stay open?
