Next Year in Europe (UEFA Co-Efficients)

Comments (4)

Just checked and

1. We are now 3rd in terms of points from this year's matches (ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea!)

2. Our points for next year is already 40.305 which puts us 56th overall in Europe

3. That ranking would have put us 15th in this year's UEFA Cup qualifying round - we were actually the 34th seeded club

4. That ranking would have made us 12th seeds in the 2005 Champions League Qualifiers

For me that shows how much progress we have now made - how much easier it will be in the future as we will get drawn against weaker teams and finally how vital it is that we make it back into Europe to cement the position we now have.

This is just soooo Good!

Don?t get too excited just yet, we have to qualify for Europe first and that could be very hard if Spurs win the Carling Cup as it will be only two places left to fill and unless it is a Chelsea-Man U Cup Final there will be only 1 place given to the league. That is, we will have to finish 5th and things are very tight.

The Uefa Cup places go to the FA Cup winner (or runner up if winner already qualified). The Carling Cup winner but not the runner up (come on Chelsea) and to fifth place in the league. Extra places only go to the league if not filled by the cups.

Interesting that Mike Kennedy, could be very tight with Villa and Man City still to close for comfort, got to push on now.

I guess there is still the Inter-toto Cup and perhaps an extra Uefa Cup place if the English Premier League wins the fair play award but let's hope we can qualify outright anyway. COYB
