Refereeing descisions

Will we ever get a penalty decision or any decent decisions for us. We been denied two blatant penalties. This is getting annoying now. The state of refereeing this season as been atrocious!

Looks like we just don't need them if we carry on playing like that. A fantastic display today and an absolutely brilliant result.

Result of the season so far for me...Cahill, Carsley, Jags awesome, looks the player Stubbs could have been! Ace all round, credit to Hibbert too, solid job.
God this feels so good.

Brilliant all-round display, resolute as ever second half and looked likely to get a third, great result! Yak awesome again! Come on blues!

Amazing game.... A great display of complete football by Everton.. Styles was horrible as usual.

And to the romanticist at heart, Everton are above L’pool by 3 points and 5 below Chelsea. Granted they have games in hand, but maybe just maybe, CFC in sight too!!!!!!!

On the nail Trevor. Something really has to be done about the piss poor quality of people like Rob Styles. As Mark Sagers pointed out on 5-live, goal difference could count here & we’re 4 behind RS. When you also take it all into account this season (it’s only 3 weeks since we were robbed of a win at Blackburn) this might screw our season.

Seems to me that if they can stop the rugby World Cup Final for 5 mins to decide if it really was a try or not, then they can stop a far less important (and far less noble) game involving self-indulgent overpaid puffs to check if it really was blatant cheating, or indeed if it was a goal.

Football is still too far up its own arse to take into account effective stewarding of the sport, nevermind Corinthian ethics.

Final thought,I’m starting to worry about Manny Fernandez. Is he fit or just plain rusty? He was in a world of his own against Brann and it’s not all going to plan. Could be an injury, or something more in the head. I don’t now see this as a dead cert, unless Moyes can get him for nearer £5m than £14m.

Obvioulsly delighted with the win, thought Yakubu was excellent tonight and another super display from Yobo and Jagielka. Unfortunately I backed Everton to win starting with -2 @22/1. So am a bit pissed with the referee! aarrghhhh

Reckon we are the real deal now!

I love us winning and having shocking referees performances to talk about as it can’t be accused of being sour grapes! Would have been hard to argue against had we been given about 3 penalties tonight. All in all great performance. Just gutted Pienaar didn’t last 5 more mins to get me another fantasy league point!

Alan - maybe an elaborate plot by Moyesey and Manny for him to play awfully so we get him on the cheap in the summer ;-)

The conspiracy theorists amongst us jump upon much less!

I counted three penalties denied Everton, two cast iron handballs inside the area... one probable.

MOTM... Carsley, he was imperious, a veritable blood’n’guts performance and an old head to spot danger and break up Citeh’s attacks... no wonder they lost shape, they couldn’t find a way through him... wish he was 23 again.

Petrov... what a dick!

Absolutely fucking superb! Pace, power, creativity and defensive defiance. I am beginning to believe we have got the real deal in this team at last.

Its still a long rocky run-in, but what a great step forward at ’fortress Eastlands’.

On the thread, just about every manager is shouting about refs at the moment. Their decisions (and lack of them) actually mean so much to every team in the league except Derby at the moment. Two goals from pens tonight would have helped the goal difference, which could count as a point at the end of the season, and so on.

Awsome tonight right through the team. Jags [sureley and England certainty!] and Yak’s best performances so far. That could have easily been 5 or 6. All our league games up to [and including] the Liverpool game are winnable. Lets win them.

Could have been six and should have had two penalties, fantastic team display.
Somebody wake me up this is getting scary.
COY MIGHTY BLUES.

I gotta say that I thought all the players were fantastic but IMHO I thought Moyes was the MOTM - tactically spot on - and to believe I was moaning before we kicked off with 4 defenders and 2 defensive midfielders.

Immense - shall look forward to work tomorrow and receiving my second winners breakfast this season from a City colleague - the full English will never taste any better !!!

Oh Everton.........

Had £2 on Yak 2-0 @ 40-1 and £2 on Lescott last goal @ 25-1........

Happy Days!!!!

Absolutely fantastic

Where to begin with that? Four great defenders - Hibbert included. Carsley immense, Cahill looking back up-for-it, Pienaar tricky until tiring, Osman possibly playing his best game for Everton since Villa away a while back. Can’t carp at a single performance.

A few seasons back we would withdrawn to the penalty area and shipped two goals. This season we are defending much further up the pitch and always offer a threat. 4-0 would have been fair.

Fantastic performance from the lads, but Styles was absolutely shocking. Goal difference really could matter. In any case, what if City had got a lucky goal back and gone on to force a draw? They got nowhere near. But not for lack of help from Styles.

I assume Moyes will be getting the same apology that Styles gave the RS earlier in the season. And Hackett will be suspending the third ref this season after appalling performances against Everton.

They really do want the RS to come in fourth don’t they? The RS will know now that they can shoot Everton players in the upcoming derby and get away with it (mind you, look at the way Mascherano got Aliadiere sent off on Saturday after he was the one who first raised his hand!!). Still on this form we can still beat them and their referee.

1 goal conceded in last 6 matches. AWESOME

Had a good feeling before the game and in the end it was the best away win in years - shades of the spurs semi in 95 - only this time the ref denied us the fair scoreline of 4-0. Any more of this and we will all be believers. The bandwgaon is rolling and it could be unstoppable

What a fantastic performance by the entire team. Not one single player can be singled out as not putting in a solid performance. I am a bit worried about the midfield injuries again, but hopefully one of Arteta or Pienaar will be ready for the weekend and we can play a 4-4-2 without skipping a beat. We do have that flexibility it seems, crush the Norwegian champion on Thursday with a 4-4-2 then turn around and beat City at their ground comfortably with a 4-5-1. Just keep winning boys, that’s all you have to do. Chelsea better watch themselves now.

Absolutely fan bloody tastic.., Everton were immense to a man (bar Manny... WTF??) tonight..

Oh and I had £10 @ 10/1 with paddy power on the yak .... Happy days !!!

I have to confess to being a bit of a Tony Marsh until this.... But I have to say this was a performance and significance on a par with the 80s team.

I don't know whether its connected with the derby match or Alan Irvine going but we seem to have become the invincibles. Let's hope Peanuts,Fernandes and Arteta are OK for Saturday.

What a display by Osman and Yakubu. I always thought the Yak was strong but sluggish but now he seems to be quicker than Johnson over 3/4 yards.

Watched it on Setanta and got to say the coverage was spot on criticising Styles all round for not giving a pen or two and interviewing all the players at the end. It seemed like we had won the cup the way the players were enjoying themselves ? great to see.

Brilliant result well done lads. Liked the way Yobo and Jagielka were talking a lot more and barking orders. Surely this is through confidence. We know if we give Yak one chance hell put it away we have pace on the bring good footballers can mix it tough if have to and good at both ends from set plays. What more can you ask for???

And to cap it all...

That RS Alan Green said at the end on 5 Live: "Everton, genuine top 4 contenders".

Happy days indeed.

Over an hour after full-time it’s suddenly occurred to me - No Arteta! Says everything about that performance. Men against boys with a justifiable pinch of arrogance thrown in. Well done the lads and David (Dave) Moyes.

Karma will come full circle. McFadden has already scored TWO penalties in the few weeks since he left us and we have yet to be awarded ONE this season. The law of averages says then that in our remaining games against the likes of RS, Arsenal, Chelsea and Villa we should be awarded at least 16 penalties in total. If karma has to balance itself out by us beating Liverpool 5-0 after AJ scores 5 of our 8 penalties in that game then so be it.

An interesting stat is that Rosisky is the last opposition player to score against us in the league ......... 2 months ago. Not too bad at all

By the way i watched the game on Setanta ? did anybody else think the commentary and pundits were spot on? Well balanced views all very honest and spoke about us like we deserved to be were we are ? unlike Sky Sports who think were gatecrashing and can't wait for Liverpool to get back into fourth.

29   Posted 25/02/2008 at 22:02:40

What a perfprmance that was! Could and should have scored five and defended like heroes. Jagielka was absolutely immense. I am starting to believe we have actually got a fucking good team at last. Get in there!!

Superb result and after Howard’s cracker against the RS just goes again to prove don’t wait for the ref to win you the game, go and keep scoring from open play. Some of the football on Monday night was a bloody joy to watch as we dismantled them and soaked up everything they could throw at us.

For the past few months it has been Man City and Everton that have seemed most likely to break into the top 4 at the end of the season... how many total penalty decisions in favour of these teams?

None.

Oh, and they are the only two teams in the Premier not to have a penalty awarded... Hmmm...
