Why?

Comments (23)

I sat at home last night watching the Red Shite beat Arsenal, I did not want it to end up that way, in fact when the gooners scored I was estatic, then the Red shite turned them over and it got me thinking how far off being a big club we are.

  • Why do the Top 4 Teams always turn us over?
  • Why do we dither on transfers, Pinnear etc?
  • Why do we leave it late before entering the trransfer market?
  • Why do we not have a bigger aquad, Moyes said he was happy with the size, how can he be?
  • Why do we play Neville, Osman, Hibbert, they would struggle to get in anyother top-half team?
  • Why are we insisting on hoofball when we come under pressure?
  • Why are we one dimensional, the midfileders are like "crabs" moving sideways rather than forwards?
  • Why are we so "defensive"?
  • Why do we not give the youngsters ago? If they are not good enough, get them off the books?
  • Why do we promise so much but deliver so little?
  • Why have we blown 4th and maybe 5th (Portsmouth are 4 points behind), we play Brum away ( 1 pt ) Chelsea ( 0) Arsenal ( 0 ), Villa (1 ) Newcastle ( 1 ) so we get another 3 points. I would love to be wrong but what shite I have seen over the last few weeks I do not think so?
  • Why is everthing such a "saga" at Everton, e.g. the ground move, Moyes number 2?
Someone fucking tell me WHY? I support Everton and spend thousands each year travelling to Liverpool to watch them? Someone tell me the fucking answers cos I do not know!!!

I am flabberghasted by last night and I know I shouldn?t be talking about the RS on a Everton site but I can?t help when you have your workplace full of the soft pinkie twats.... I can?t believe they won. Yes I agree with you Chris - we will never be able to join the "Sky 4 " as long as we have no investment - sadly it is all about the money - regardless if you are a Tony Marsh or Dutch Schaffer type follower - whatever beliefs you have about footy it is always going to be about the money... I?m sounding very pessimistic but I just can?t believe last night!!

When they talk about a 12th man at Anfield it's not the crowd it's the officials.
Very harsh penalty against Arsenal at Anfield plus an absolute penalty denied to Arsenal at the Emirates.
How many times over seasons do they get decisions like this.

Luck or corruption?

Why have you bothered to write such a useless load of whingeing drivel?

Portsmouth 4pts behind us. We are 3 pts behind RS yet you are inferring that Portsmouth have a better chance of overtaking us - reality is 4th, 5th and 6th will probably remain unaltered.

The answer to most of your "Whys" is because we do not have the money and have to make do with what we?ve got!

Do me a favour!

Why do Evertonians have to be so negative?????

We have had a really good season, much better than what I was expecting (rather than wanting) so what is there really to whinge about?

Jay - I used to think it was just luck and their pact with the Devil but now I think it is becoming more corrupt as seasons go by - as you say Arsenal had a stonewall penalty turned down at the Emirates whereas they get a fairly innocuous decision in the 86th minute or something like that - I may sound deluded and bitter but I am sick of the bastards and the ’luck’ that they seem to be getting all the time.
It’s time that Kenwright and co put their balls on the bonnet and spend the cash - if it means we do a Leeds so be it at least we went down trying and not happy just swanning along with the rest of the mediocre crap teams!!!!

Less of the swearing too. You sound like my sister trying to get her point across.

To answer your questions they have more money, better players than us. We cannot compete with them.

Things will slowly turn around mate.

Bit of a silly comment about the youngsters. So if they’re not ready at say 16/17, should we fuck em off? How about some keep on learning and get more experience, then try them. If they’re no good, then get rid. Not everyone is ready by the age of 16. As for Osman, I think he’s a decent player.

As for the post in general, yes we have some problems, but I think you’re overgeneraling and catastrophising a little. I don’t know, maybe we’ll finish 10th??

I think the answers to the questions are thus:

Why do the Top 4 Teams always turn us over?

They don?t always, but too often due to lack of our self belief and the systematic bias of the officials.

Why do we dither on transfers, Pinnaar etc?

Multitude of reasons: agents, lack of funds, wage structure, hard bargaining etc.

Why do we leave it late before entering the transfer market?

Financial restraints and failed bids for top targets.

Why do we not have a bigger squad, Moyes said he was happy with the size, how can he be? Lack of financial resource and thorough vetting process for potential signings.

Why do we play Neville, Osman, Hibbert, they would struggle to get in any other top-half team? Gotta use what you have, cut cloth to budget.

Why are we insisting on hoofball when we come under pressure?

Squeaky bum syndrome, lack of positive creative movement of attacking players when under pressure.

Why are we one dimensional, the midfielders are like "crabs" moving sideways rather than forwards?

See previous answer

Why are we so "defensive"?

See previous answer

Why do we not give the youngsters ago?

Lack of faith in them, overly cautious to change a failing formation/personnel

If they are not good enough, get them off the books?

Not easy when they are contracted and no suitors eg. AvdM.

Why do we promise so much but deliver so little? ALL of the above, we are actually doing ok given lack of resource compared to the sky4...sadly.

Why have we blown 4th and maybe 5th (Portsmouth are 4 points behind), we play Brum away ( 1 pt ) Chelsea ( 0) Arsenal ( 0 ), Villa (1 ) Newcastle ( 1 ) so we get another 3 points. I would love to be wrong but what shite I have seen over the last few weeks I do not think so?

You can?t see the future with certainty, if we want it enough. We?ll finish 4th or 5th.

Why is everything such a "saga" at Everton, e.g. the ground move, Moyes number 2?

Ground move is a huge challenge, was always gonna be a saga. Moyes wants to get the right number 2, better to make the right appointment than a quick appointment.

Many of the above ills would be solved with a huge cash injection...shame there ain?t a money tree, or forest!

Ok here goes Chris:
-
- They believe they will beat us, we believe we will lose.
- Variety of reasons, mainly cash methinks
- We dont always, season before last we bought 3 players within a month of the season finishing.
- Money
-Harsh on Osman, no other right back option at the minute, money was spent on other areas of priority first.
- Not good enough, used to seeing the ball flying over their heads from Neville, Howard and Yobo.
- We’re not defensive -have you seen our goal difference?
- Silly comment
- Lack of strength in depth, seasons seem to fizzle out.
- We havent blown anything yet cop on.
- Kenwright

Now calm yourself down and try not to be so bloody negative!! Do you really think we wont win another game this season?!!

When is a penalty not a penalty? When Liverpool get one or we are denied one when playing them? Perhaps this year they are getting our share!!

I have had enough of all the spin and lies that are now becoming prevalent at Everton FC - either Kenwright gets the cheque book out and backs Moyes in the summer regardless of Champs League or Uefa Cup - I think Moyes is doing a good job by all means there is room for improvement but unless he gets the board backing with substantial cash then we are doomed to stay among the mediocre mid-table crap teams if we are lucky in the next few seasons !!!!

There isn’t much point in getting the cheque book out if there is no money in the account.

Just shows how clueless some fans are. Osman should never be in the same list as the likes of Neville and Hibbert. He?s far too talented and has had far too good a season to be in there.

What big sides has he struggled against? He?s had some cracking games against good sides this season. Spurs, Fiorentina, Portsmouth etc.

On the wing yes he struggles but in the middle he?s been very consistent. Only Pienaar has out performed him this season. 7 goals to his name from midfield is a good number and he?s got a few assists as well.

People really do underrate Osman. They believe people like Tony Marsh and judge without actually looking at his performances. His work rate is superb and his movement is excellent. Quality player and whether he?s a starter or a squad player next season he?ll be very important to us.
Michael Hunt
14   Posted 09/04/2008 at 17:39:27

Yes, I omitted to mention Ossie is unfairly criticised and is a quality player as well as blue blooded. He does suffer from anonymous off-games now and again, but most players do. Mostly due to a lack of lightening pace and a lack of stature vs the good prem big’uns he falls underneath the ’world class’ category and therefore if we had mega bucks we could improve in his position if you believe in NSNO. However, even then he would be a very good quality squad player to have around.

If Osman had played like Blue eyed boy Arteta on Sunday we would not have won the game. He was the difference. He will never be top notch, at a Liverpool or Arsenal he would only play in the Carling Cup, but that sums up the difference between us and the likes of them.

Why did you waste two hours of your life which you will never get back watching that mob ?
Anthony Newell
17   Posted 09/04/2008 at 20:03:59

Steve G, if you’d watched Micky Thomas’s goal (89 season I think) then you’d understand why there would inevitably be some blue interest in this game. After all, our hope of silverware when down the shitter the moment Johnson was played up front on his own, CC semi second leg

I watched with the hope that Arsenal would play them off the park and go through convincingly - for 25 minutes it looked like it was going to happen then that useless twat Almunia punts the ball into touch and the resultant pressure invited the equaliser. Fair enough, game on, but what followed after they got the game to 2-2 beggared belief. I was fucking gobsmacked by the ’penalty’ but it left my asking why I continue to put myself through this pergatory (same thing with AC Milan at 3-0 up). What the fuck was that referee playing at?, I mean Maschereno should have been yellow carded on countless occassions

At the end of the day your right though - two hours of my life I will never get back and I don’t know why I keep doing it to myself. However I’ve resolved to keep away now and I’ll be giving the Chelsea games a wide berth - lets hope they get their flaming act together!

I seem to recall the Arse beating us with "hoofball" because we had played, sorry, passed them of the park. Who said what then about "hoofball"? A very useable tactic if you have the players to make it work,ie;players tall enough to win a header against a big center half. Why have we always loved our "big No 9s"?
Because with a classy winger, fast and skillful it´s an exciting combination. Royal +Morrissey+Husband. The Latch+Thomas. Sharp/Gray +Steven/Sheedy. Fergusson+Limpar. Who fed W.Ralf or Lawton or Pickering?
Was this also "Hoofball"?
Stop bleating about a pefectly legitimate style of play from which we have profited, enjoyed and encouraged. You lot who whine rabbit on about the "good old days." I seem to remember several long punts up the middle from the boots of Rats,Waggy,Labby etc, etc, etc.
Perspective please.

Kenwright is the problem and has got to go!!!!

The RS sign Torres, Man U sign Tevez, Rooney etc , Chelsea sign Drogba, Essien etc, Arsenal have Wenger and the best scouting system in Europe. THIS IS THE DIFFERENCE.

All the above clubs have money and real businessmen running them and we as a club are light years away from them.

The amount of money made available to Moyes is laughable and I can’t remember the last time we made a signing that had me filled with excitement. If anyone says Yakubu I’ll go off my head. He’s a lazy twat who only plays when he’s arsed.

Wondering why the red shite are in another CL semi and always seem to win things??? They sign players like Torres that’s why.

We struggle to sign a player at 10 million pounds!!! Fuckn pathetic and Kenwright is solely to blame for this. As a football club we don’t think big anymore and are being left further and further behind. It will get worse next season as well you mark my word’s coz Newcastle, Pompey, Villa, Spurs etc will all be given more money than us to spend.

Jay Campbell, so your not excited by a striker who can score 19 goals in 31 games? I certainly am because that is an excellent record for a team like Everton. You can’t argue with Yakubu’s record and his goalscoring record in Nigeria, Israel, England, the Uefa cup and the Champions League is excellent. He’s also got a good record at International level.

"If anyone says Yakubu I?ll go off my head. He?s a lazy twat who only plays when he?s arsed."

Thats just bollocks mate. Yakubu has been very consistent and has upped his work rate. He’ll never be naturally hardworking but his all round game and goal scoring record is there to see.
Stan Sheppard
21   Posted 10/04/2008 at 09:48:56

Yakubu was bought to score goals and he?s been doing just that. AJ Beattie and Bent all work(ed) like trojans and still got tortured. Strikers need service and in recent matches it has been lacking.

The whole tone of this thread has been a negative ?it?s not fair? ?why do the sky 4 get everything? yap-fest that was nowhere to be seen only a few weeks ago.

There are still 5 games to go and we are 3 points off 4th with the majority of our remaining games at home.

Maybe there will be a time for the doom and gloom mongers to come out IF we end the season badly.
