Referees Closing Ranks

Comments (10)

Interesting article in The Mirror about Mr Bean.... makes you wonder why the FA are closing down regarding THAT match refereeing performance...........

Now, we all have had loads to say on Clattenberg (and I am sure we haven't quite run out of adjectives, verbs, nouns, brand new words, etc) but what really is worrying is the more serious cover-up from those in authority who are supposedly ruling the roost.

Makes me wonder if this is going to be the last we will hear on the matter. Somehow, with Moysie as obviously miffed as we are, and successful in recent law suit, I don't think so....

I believe that he should really grab the bull by the horns and go for their throats to get some bloody answers from them...

Arrogant bastards!

Mr Bean!!!

Sounds an apt name, who are "Football Factors", sounds well dodgy to me !!!

Not surprised to hear that they won?t divulge the information to him.

And what work is he actually doing for David Moyes?

Obviously not coaching pass and move sessions!!!

Personally I think we need to move on from Clattenburg.

How can he do that? He has been up before a disciplinary committee today and received a warning about his future conduct, because he spoke out about the Merseyside Derby.

Talk about protecting your own. No doubt the FA did not warn Clattenburg about his future conduct - that would be asking a bit too much wouldn?t it?

Whatever is happening behind closed doors at the sweet FA, it seems that the disrepute that refs bring to the game is being more generally recognised, in the media at least.

I hasten to add that I don’t believe that they are bribed to make the decisions that they do. Let’s face it, if Stevie smilled nicely at you, you’d let him off diving, wouldn’t you. Wouldn’t you?

I believe it’s probably got more to do with the fact that it would unearth other substandard performances from this particular referee.

I seem to recall he was at the centre on controversy in the Bolton/Man Utd game when he also sent Sir Alex to the stands. There were one or two more games after that where he had poor performances that were highlighted on television and in the press.

I do know one thing, that including and since the derby game, ref's decisons have been disgracful, and they have cost us fourth place. We had as much chance as Zimbabwe getting an honest vote, and I watch Liverpool getting decision after decision... The games is rotten to the core. Just like Italy.

I run my own business and the simple fact of the matter is that the PL recieve £1.4B+ from sky. The PL know that without the so called big 4 that would be closer to £1.4M.

In any business you look after your biggest clients or you lose them and I am afraid cos that in the case of the PL that is Man Utd, Arsenal, chelsea and Liverpool.

It's money that makes the world go round not honesty or integrity or the love of the game. If you don't belive me just ask the Speaker of the House of Commons and all his political mates.

It's a marriage of convenience. You keep us in the CL and we dont have to think about leaving your PL........you don't and we are off........what would you do in there place........exactly........the same fucking thing!!!!!!!!!!

How we love to wallow in self pity.
I watch lots of TV football and in my view the big 4 suffer from the poor standard of refereeing much the same as the rest of us.
In particular the poor decisions Arsenal have had to put up with over the last month may well have cost them the title and a CL semi final place.
Man U went out of the FA cup as a result of poor officials and I do not suppose Sir Alex was sent to the stands at Bolton because the officials felt he was praising them too much !
Even the RS were robbed by poor decisions against Chelsea and Reading and the referee they had on Sunday performed far worse than Clattenberg in the Derby.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Our club was a prime mover in in breaking away from the Football League and selling out to Sky. Pathetic mangement of the club on the non-playing side of things has meant that we missed out on the opportunities that others have taken and stupid talk of favouring the the top 4 is just more self pity and envy.
As a business, surely Sky would benefit subscription wise if the League was more competitive? And whilst on a rant can I make a plea to contributors to show a bit more respect to great clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle and Spurs who have long and enviable histories and supporters as committed as our own. Our history, great though it is, gives us no right to look down our noses at these clubs.

Let?s not forget that it was Twattenberg who was in charge of the infamous ?ball didnt cross the line? Man U/Spurs game a couple of years ago. Unsighted he climed... fucking selective blindness more like!!

Yes Nelly - have we met? - "selective blindness" sounds right to me. And your reference to that piece of, lets call it, refereeing history, is very relevant to this discussion.

Video technology and the rest that some other sports have taken on will be intoduced into football - when? I would say never, except that you can never say never.

Who opposes such a move? Referees have the absolute right to decide the outcome of a game. A goal awarded or denied. A penalty awarded or denied (sometimes with many retakes involved until a goal is awarded or denied). Video evidence after the event will never affect the victory or loss.

Sowho will surrender such power? The refs? Or their bosses?

Craig, could you please explain Newcastle?s long and enviable history to me, as I must have dozed off and missed it.
