Anyone for Big Sam?

Comments (18)

A journalist who follows the fortunes of our club much closer than most told me at lunchtime that several Sundays will carry the story that David Moyes is on his way to Celtic. Most of us have heard this gossip already but what intrigued me was the news that Sam Allardyce has already been sounded out to succeed him at Goodison. Sounds good to me...

Big Sam??? Me thinks you be from the dark side... on a wind-up...

Moyes is NOT on his way to Celtic. He will sign a new deal in the summer and we will sign a few players to improve the squad.

As for Big Sam, we’d get "hoofball" all the time, not just when we’ve been shorn of almost all our midfield creativity due to injury as we have now.

Following on from his phenomenal couple of weeks at Newcastle this would be a great capture.

We can say goodbye to anyone under six feet six. Say hello to loads of blokes with unpronouncable names from places you’e never even heard of.

Get ready to watch in awe as the ball is hoofed to previously unthinkable lengths and heights.

Watch wistfully as he begins a spell in chokey for his role in Bungate.

Admire his tactical awareness as he appoints Sammy and Gordon Lee to his staff.

I wish I hadn’t got up now.

Live and work in Newcastle and have seen first-hand how utterly rubbish he was. This is a wind-up, end of.

If we need a new kit man then I?d go for "big" Sam. He's organised. On the other side, he?d fit right in ? we?ve been playing long ball for years!

Teamtalk quoting Moyesey talking about getting his contract and blueprint for next few years at Everton sorted. Not the talk of a man on his way up to the Hoops is it? If he was planning to leave then the usual "let’s just focus on the important remaining games this season" chestnut would surely have come out.

Went back to bed and had a nightmare.

I was sitting in the Every Little Helps stand, listening to the man on the tannoy, Ian Wright, announcing the teams. Surrounded by over forty three slightly interested home fans and a dog who wishes he was somewhere else we look forward to another afternoon of hoofball.

Our captain is Peter (for a big man he’s good on the ball) Crouch. No surprise there as manager ’Big’ Sam Allardyce picks him every week.

Ably assisted by Sammy Lee and Boris Johnson, Sam has overseen radical changes to the side that sees us nearly getting into the Intertoto cup on a fairly regular basis.

Despite playing 7-2-1 we are two down by half time, but we know that Walsall Reserves are a tough team this year and expected little else.

That’s how the game ends but it’s not all bad news. I’ve got another five computers for schools vouchers and 3% off my next shoppping trip to the Tesco Megastore, formerly Goodison Park.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Albert, we already watch the ball being hoofed up to unthinkable heights!

This does however raise an important or interesting issue, if Moyes was ever to leave who would we want/get as his replacement? IF he were to leave in the summer I think that Hughes, Keane and John Collins would be the front runners with the bookies - espescially as Irvine went to PNE. As much as we all would love Mourinho to come in I still can’t see us attracting a really top world class manager in.

I think the players have done a sweep. A couple of quid each in the pot and the first one to kick it over the church gets the dough!!! Sounds like an Allardyce method to me...

I heard Murdo McLoud on Irish radio last wekk talking about Gordon Strachan’s job and possible replacements. He says Celtic couldnt afford Moyes wages even if they wanted to. End of.

I know it may only be rumours but my mate who is up in Glasgow at the moment texted me to say that all the talk in the pubs he was in was that David Moyes is gona be taking over at Celtic in the summer.

It wouldn?t surprise me if Moyes took the Celtic job now that he can see through the Kenwright bullshit. As a replacemnet I?d go for the charismatic Walter Smith with Big Dunc as No 2.

This is a sad; why would Moyes leave a job for life to go to a second rate club in a second rate league? End of.

If true (which I hope it isn’t) the only person that I can see who will be pleased will be Tony Marsh. He’ll be counting down the days when Moyes leaves, then start to criticise Kenwright for appointing Big Sam rather than Redknapp.

For me, I think that the money issue is vital to keeping Moyes at the club.

But if I was Kenwright, on a very practical level, I’d be quietly sounding out other managers - but this story is from TeamTalk, and that says it all for me.

Moyes to Celtic, and Big-Sam?

You have GOT to be kidding... The manager capable of an even more boring game than Everton at it’s worst under Moyes.

Of course one reason for Davey wanting to go to Celtic could be to get away from English referees. According to Hearts chairman Roman Romanov in the paper this morning "Rangers and Celtic win titles by 30 points. How many times this season have we been screwed by referees? ... If a club starts to grow, they use all mechanisms to pull it down."

Now that’s what I call a conspiracy theory.

Told you weeks ago he WILL go, most likely Celtic, if a decent amount of cash is not made avaliable.. Please note:? He WILL go....

The only place, apart from maybe jail, that Big Sam is going is back to Bolton.
