Not too sure if Moyes is unhappy over Arteta recently on his casual attitude and gameplay or due to just recovered from injuries. Perhaps this is a match to show we can be a good team without Arteta (with Fernandes, Osman, Pienaar in midfield of course.).

Anyway. I'm super glad Neville is back to where he belongs. RB. Thank god. Tonite we will beat Aston Villa for sure.

From what I can see from the start of the game, we always try too hard at the start and make mistakes giving the ball away. Opposition then becomes dangerous in attack as we pass sloppy balls around rather than building up an attack more gradually.

Half time performance

Howard :: not much to do even though villa holds much of the possession.

Lescot:: For one instance, lost the ball dangerously in Everton half, what was he thinking...

Yobo :: doing fine.. .except still stick with long balls

Phill :: beautiful pass... to Villa player.

Jag :: good clearance.. but more and more looking like breaking someone legs.

Cars :: actually tried breaking someone legs... and needs to learn how to pass a ball.

Pienaar :: ok.. so far... though when nearer the box ...seems lack of ideas....

osman :: not much play..and not much fault...

Fernandes :: sometimes good..sometimes atrocious ....

AJ :: didnt see him in much action

Yak :started well.. but crossing is poor.

Oh Dear- I fear that yet again the writing is on the wall. Our midefiled is just pitifull!!! Is Osman playing? Plenty of Hoofs, and Neville STILL can’t pass to a blue shirt. If we are to be honest Villa are by far a much better side, their midfield is big, strong and they can pass & move.

Where do we begin in the summer??

So is it going to then be 4 ponits from the last possible 21?

We do need to WIN this game to get that 5th place. I can’t see a draw being enough at all given the next couple of games. We simply haven’t got the players for 4-4-2.

We are getting worse every week. What has happened to us since the heady days of early season? Are we really that dependant on Cahill? We are looking abominable and only a master stroke by Moyes or some very good luck will see us winning this game

Oh well John Lets just sack them all, yet again not good enough for some people. Maybe we are forgetitng that they have scored 15 goals in three games and we have reduced them to one shot on target, which was from a free kick. Im sure if we sneak one here everyone will be loving the team again. Lets just get behind them for f*&@s sake!!!!!

FFS! can anyone tell me why Yakubu is playing on the left wing, just how many goals has he scored from there!? Get him in the centre where he scores goals. Also high balls against Villa?s giant defence!? Jeez the air is blue here and for all the wrong reasons. Come on Blues we?ve looked good in flashes when we have kept the ball on the deck and passed to a blue shirt, 2nd half get it sorted! COYB

I was excited to see us come out all guns( the ones who aren’t injured, that is)blazing but soon Villa settled down and took control.Their passing in the midfield has been better than ours...thankfully the lads at the back are clearing all that has come in so far. Passing has to be better and that has to start with the Yak..atrocious passing so far..AJ has run hard but looks too lightweight and gets knocked over by a Villa defender each time the ball is punted up. Pienaar and Ossie have looked good in the middle and to be fair Cars has been a good support for the back 4...Manny has been on and off...hope Arteta is fit and comes on soon in the 2nd half...AJ/Manny to score the 1st goal for us...and if we do score a 2nd...Pienaar to score...finding the stress levels a bit high...hope my chest doesn’t start hurting soon !COYB

Still.. i think we will win this game. Even if we lose.. im sure u be happy we reduce villa to perhaps two shots in the game.

We totally back-off whenever we get the lead and invite pressure on to us. Normally we cope; today against quality attackers and midfielders we didn't.

The problem - we have Yobo, Jags, and Lescott who are tremendous centre halves but unfortunately as quiet as mice. You need a leader to take control and make sure we push up and squeeze the play. We don't have one of the quality of Ferdinand, Terry, Cavalaho and even I dare say it Carragher!!! Ugh.

What a great second half performance today, that was deffo a big improvement within the last few games. I think a draw was a fair result. I thought Osman and Arteta deffo made a difference for us, shame Fernandes went off, cause I thought he played welll again. Also read about AJ leaving, if West Ham are still interested then I wouldn't mind swapping him for Dean Ashton. Also what about Kazim Richards too, would be a good addition to the squad.

Only saw the game on TV but think a draw was a fair result. We were second best first half but really improved second half. Thought the Yak played well - well done to Neville. I think if we play like we did in the 2nd half we will get 4 points from the 2 reamaining games. Interesting that Villa have only played 39 games this year while we have played 52. Definitely need a bigger squad.

Just goes to show that hoofball can get you to fifth and sixth although I think Villa have the advantage with their set-pieces. Is it Arteta?s hernia problem that prevents him from beating the first defender and why hasn?t Moyes spotted what?s obvious to all of us watching?

Average performance for me, why oh why did nobody close Barry down for the second goal???

I really think 5th is their?s now, unless we somehow get a point against Arsenal or thrash Newcastle by 5 or 6.

I am getting fed up with people critisising people who do not go to every match, some of us have young children, work/other commitments and go when they can, we are still as big of fans as those who go every home game!!!

I enjoyed the game today to be honest. A bit of entertainment for once, some decent football and lots of passion.

Arteta shouldn’t have come on. Blatently wasn’t fit and Manny was having a decent game as where Osman and Pienaar.

I confess to only listening to the match on Five Live but it sounded as if Fenandes corner?s were woeful... everyone over hit or put out of play. It?s pointless apportioning blame though. It?s obviously that mentally and physically the team are running on empty so today?s improvement was unexpected.

Funny things can happen in football. They could take a point off Arsenal as the Gunners have nothing to play for and a fighting performance from improved Wigan could rob Villa of a couple of points.
You couldn?t predict the outcome of EFC v Newcastle or WHU v Villa either...totally unpredictable!

Final thought.... wish we hadn?t sold McFadden!

I think we needed to get rid of Faddy and we got a decent price but at what cost. The extra 1-2 million we go extra in transfer fees mid-season could cost us even more.

I think Moyesey gambled on the youngsters. Vaughan isn?t fit and Anichebe isn?t the player we all thought he could be (and still hope he will be) at the moment.

Faddy was crap but gave that extra dimension we don?t have right now.

He certainly had his faults but he was always capable of doing something special and I would have to say. I’d rather see McFadden running out than Anichebe or a half fit Arteta.

You're spot on there. Fernandes should have stayed. If I remember rightly him and Arteta worked together well last season. He?s just starting to show a bit of promise. I was sat next to a Villa fan, who thought he looked good, and he saw the game through a different perspective. We both wanted our side to win but in all I think the result was fair. There's still two games to play and we?re still in the box seat.

Wigan and away to West Ham won?t be easy for them... Newcastle? We should piss it.

From the 75th to the 80th minute I counted that the maximum combination of passes we completed was 3 and we gave the ball away 5-6 times before they scored. That isn?t good enough. We need to sign a couple of quality midfielders who are confident on the ball and can pass the ball FORWARD... To feet!

Although a little encouraged going into the final two games, we are 3 points ahead of Villa and all to play for.
