Fernandes

Did anyone else notice when we scored the second goal and the whole bench were going mad celebrating, that Fernandes was just sitting there in a big sulk. I think its apparant he couldn't give 2 shits about our club and is just out for himself. As good of a player as I think he can be become I don't want players at Everton who are like that. So for me its bye bye Fernandes at the end of the season.....

I?ve always thought that Fernandes doesn't give a shit about Everton. I remember when he was at Portsmouth he openly told them that he was only there to attract the attantion of a bigger and better club. I can only assume that he sees his time on Mersyside as another stepping stone.

I also saw Phil Neville celebrate the first (his goal) and not celebrate the second. I saw Fernandes celebrate the first, but didn’t see his reaction to the second. I think Phil Neville didn’t want to get too carried away after they’d just scored and wanted a strong mentality, maybe that’s what Fernandes was thinking.

Well he was probably pissed off with being subbed in a poor move by Moyes IMO and by a lot of other people.

He?s been getting better and getting his fitness back game after game and what happens? Gets subbed for a player who is clearly not fit and only came back to liverpool saturday morning.

Manny could?ve stomped back to the showers when he was subbed but didnt.

He?s probably feeling a bit messed about really because I cant think of one reason why he was subbed off.

I agree with Danny Naylor, why was Fernandes taken off? He was one of out best players and finds an Everton shirt with every pass! AJ should probably have come off and gone 5 across the middle, which isn't even a negative move with Everton because we play better with 4-5-1 anyway!

He didnt look interested yesterday. Where has the player gone that we saw last season?

It’s strange that Fernandes creates such a ’love him, hate him’ storm. I was at the game and have watched it on telly. Yes, Fernandes didnt react when Yobo scored but neither did Phil Neville. Has anyone ever seen Fernandes react to anything? Has anyone actually seen him smile when he plays? He gets stroppy and has been booked a couple of times but that’s about the height of any outward emotion.

He was the first to catch Phil after he scored though and gave him a pat or two on the cheek so there is something deep down in there!
I’m disappointed he hasnt performed as well as last season and if he stays it will only be because DM wants him to and sees he has a future here. I’m not hopeful though.

Fernandes has no committment and can?t be bothered to tackle.

Plenty of skill and zilch grit. Don?t bother...

I wouldn’t read much into it to be honest. I’ve seen Hibbert not celebrate on the bench when we’ve scored. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t care for the club. Same for Fernandes.

I’m not saying he loves the club because very few footballers do knowadays but I have no diubts about his commitment when he plays.

What about when Neville scored? Fernandes was the first one to run after him and celebrate. He looked very happy then.

As I’ve said Fernandes is an easy target. He has been since he came back. He just holds himself in a different way to others. He didn’t even smile when he scored against Man utd and Watford last season. Having watched a few of his celebrations at Benfica aswell he didn’t smile then. He doesn’t seen a player who shows his emotions.

Bye Bye Fernandes eh?!?...I suppose you?re one of these people who would rather keep Carsley instead because he?s done a ?great job?....

Celebrate or not Manny had a good game yesterday and it is clear (to anyone who has played the game at a decent level) that he is a very good footballer and the type of player we NEED at Everton. Granted he is not the finished article but he has tons of potential and it?s part of Moyes?s job to make sure he fulfils it. He most probably had a cob on because he was brought off when he never should have been, even though he was being played out of position (...obviously doing his bit for the team).

If you don't want players of his calibre playing for Everton then I pity you. No wonder this club is still an also-ran with people like you, the manager and the board accepting mediocrity all to readily and celebrating it as success.

Got to agree with Danny, he must have been well pissed off at getting subbed. I personally thought he was having a very good game despite being stuck out on the wing when he should be clearly in the centre where he can create more. He was a lot more influential than both Osman and Pienaar.

As for celebrations, he sprinted half the pitch to be the first to congratulate Phil Neville and was on the bench for the second clearly fed up at being subbed. Can?t blame the lad myself and for me that does show passion at the fact he was so annoyed to be subbed.

I thought the decision to play Manny on the wing yesterday was a poor one from Moyes. Fernandes is our most natural centre midfielder and loves to spray the ball around... not get the ball in tight situations and turn out of them which is much more of an Osman, Arteta, Pienaar sort of thing.

Silly mistake by Moyes (not for the first time) and he is making him look shite when he is to me the most talented midfielder we have.

Why play Manny on the left when you have Baines on the bench for Christ's sake...

Got to agree with Lewis and Danny, Manny has been getting better with each game he plays. I have no idea why he was taken off; for me, he was the best player on the pitch on Sunday. AJ should have been taken off to be replaced by Baines on the left, 4-5-1 leaving Manny in the middle. Yet another poor substitution by Moyes.

So why was he the first player to chase Phil Neville half way down the field to celebrate the first goal? Paul, you're talking rubbish, get off his back.

Fernandes was as bad as the rest of the midfield wasted corners by over kicking, loafs around and is not a patch on last season. DM has found Arteta and Pienaar for £2 million each, he will find another.

No - he was just mad at having been substituted and I don?t blame him. Ossie should have been the one to go off, he was barely in the game after his injury lay-off whereas Fernandes was one of the few players on the pitch who looked easy and confident on the ball.
