The Mail Bag

Sainsbury's and WHP

Comments (9)

Just been on the Liverpool Echo website and there is a story on there entitled ?My Plan for Everton FC at Walton Hall Park?.

Basically, John Seddon, who set up Mersey Cablevision in the 1980s, which was eventually taken over and became Telewest, has made it public that Sainsbury?s came to him wanting to be a partner in building a stadium in Walton Hall Park with Everton.

?No plan B?, eh? Proof that Mr Wyness ?misled? the fans during the voting process.

Hi Adam, the Keep Everton In Our Campaign revealed this news in March:

In my opinion the press are just playing catch-up after it seems Kirkby project is doomed. Although to me, it makes out like Warren Bradley is a villain. To me, he?s doing the right thing, he says he doesn?t want public parkland being sold to developers.

Who’d have thought it eh? Cllr Bradley stopping what would be the ’dream’ location for EFC, keeping us in Walton and within a park setting like the RS will enjoy. Good job we’ve got a plan A up our sleeves eh?

Good Grief, Madden, please at least attempt to contribute to the debate. You are making fools and village idiots look intelligent.

Warren Bradley stated in no uncertain terms that Everton would not be allowed to move to Walton Hall Park because "two wrongs do not make a right" (when referring to Liverpool being allowed to build on Stanley Park). How can we have a plan B that we’ve been told won’t be allowed to happen?

If it's true I'm made up because Walton Hall Park would be great . Much closer to our beloved Goodison Park and easily a better idea than Kirkby. EFC

Walton Hall Park looks massive, I’m sure we could just have a corner of it.

Sean, I know what you?re saying there mate, but if the club had of gone to the Council with this and put them under huge pressure, they might caved in and given us the land.
Also, in the piece, Cllr Bradley said that the club could have the land next to it on Longmoore Lane. If the club had said to Sainsbury?s ?let?s have a look at this site? I?m sure they would have done.

Yes voters keep harping on about there being no viable alternatives to the Kirkby project and yet again here we have further proof of the EFC board not wanting to listen to alternatives to ?Destination Kirkby?.

The Sainsbury plan for Walton Hall Park might be a no goer, but can we know that if no-one from the club has ever sat down to discuss the plans?! Does this not show you why there?s no alternative? How the hell can we know what?s ?deliverable? and what?s not if we choose to enter into an exclusivity agreement with one project and not fully investigate other alternatives?
