Not a Big Club???
Comments (8)
The Sunday Times has done a piece on the predictability of the Premier League and asks if any of the also-rans can break the "Big 4". In assessing Everton's chances it says and I quote " ..Moyes's problem is that Everton are not a big club, with a stadium that cannot take more than 40,000, and do not, at present have the finances to add big names to a comparatively small squad.".
It is the first part of the statement that irks me. Interestingly when arguing the chances of Spurs, The Toon, Villa and WHU, The Sunday Times didn't say any of the others weren't a big club.

I think (I don’t have the paper in front of me) that Everton’s revenues are less than 1/4 of Manure’s.

He employs dumbfuck yes men/women journos who don?t know their fucking arse from their fucking elbows so is it any wonder they don?t know who we are.
But we know who we are, we know our history and we know our future, although not magically about to change, in terms of competing on a proverbial level playing field with the top 4, will, eventually.
1878, the year we were founded, 130 years of league football. These wealthy twats who buy an EPL team for a hobby, or something to do, or an ?investment,? they?ll get bored. They will move on. Football will change and those who love the game will stay.
Er! that?s us. And OK, we won?t be playing at the San Siro next year, but at least some we?re not bank rolled by a despot running an evil regime.
We are Everton and have some fucking respect for who we are.

Actually, if Serie A stays like it is, Everton could very well be playing at the San Siro ... against Milan, mind, not Inter.

I think the article was written with the actual financial clout of the club in mind, the fact we do not have a billionaire owner and lack of current facilities and new stadium etc. If you read the Tottenham piece you will have noted that they pointed out they have only a 36k? (I thought it was bigger) stadium, which HAS been redeveloped and is at capacity already so I don?t think their was any malice in it, just historically ill-informed.
Anyway, here's to a great season finale, roll on more afternoons of work for those trips up north for chilly Uefa Cup nights at Goodison!
