Mike the man, Mark the ???

The mark of a man is his willingness to shoulder blame for his own mistakes.
This was highlighted today by Mike McCurry who reffed Rangers vs Dundee United on Saturday.
After viewing a video of the game he admitted that he should not have blown a Dundee goal as offside and in another incident he should have awarded them a penalty and booked Davy Weir.
Those mistakes were crucial in denying Dundee United the chance of Euro football.
Mike McCurry and Mark Clattenberg both made horrible mistakes yet by his owning up Mike proved to be a man. Hiding behind the FA official code of silence Clattenberg will for ever be branded a coward.

Clattenburg has never owned up because to him they weren?t mistakes. A Liverpool fan who went on pre-season tour with Liverpool, he wanted them to win and saw Everton as a threat to their 4th spot.
Clattenburg is not a coward, simply a cunt.
But as it?s Everton, it?s all been brushed under the carpet, otherwise it would be a match fixing scandal.
Can you tell I?m still bitter about that derby?

Good to hear a referee confessing that he got it wrong. They are only human after all. But more worrying about the Clattenburg incident is that the Premier League do not keep a register of referees’ interests, just like those required of MPs and councillors. Any out of the ordinary contact with a club, eg being a club’s guest on a pre-season tour should be registered and that referee would then be unable to referee that club. Whether Clattenburg was a cheat or not, there is no simple system in place to prevent this sort of thing happening again.
However, I wait impatiently to hear a manager criticise a referee for giving a wrong decision in their own favour. Funny, just like McEnroe, the only decisions to be challenged are those against!
Perhaps, I am being naive but wouldn’t it be great to see Ferguson or Wenger actually seeing in full detail a penalty incident that should not have been given their way!

Don?t beleive everything you read. Mike McCurry basically bottled out of decisions that should have been made. The only reason he has admitted that he made wrong decisions is that he was also the referee when dubious decisions went in Rangers favour the last time Dundee Utd went to Ibrox as well. If he was ever to referee Everton you would realise he is as much of a cunt as Clattenburg.

Interesting that Clattenburk never refereed a match in which EFC took part AFTER that first Derby Game. The FA must have known he was at fault.

I think it was this incident, if not it was a similar one in a recent game up there, but it sparked a huge media debate with calls to replay the match due to the potential influence on the SPL title.
And we wonder why referees won’t admit mistakes.

Seems Mr Clattenburg is being sued. Not for THAT game, but apparently he's a sparky - had his own company called MC Electrical Engineering.
Turns out he owed a mate over 60 grand, and his company's been wound up.
I mean 60k - that's only half of Stevie G Lah's wage packet - surely he could help a mate out?
