Injured Players

Comments (19)

This may be viewed upon by most as a rant, but it really is one of my pet hates. I really appreciate the lap of honour at the end of each season, but I really think that all players should be there who are employed by Everton Football Club, it really annoys me that the like of Arteta and Cahill were not there, even if they are in Spain and Austrailia "nursing Injuries".

If these lads were from England would they be in Spain or Austrailia? I just think that these injured players should be at the games supporting the team, and they most certainly should show their appreciation to the fans at the end of the season!!!

What a weird thing to be upset about - are you 7 years old Chris?

Very strange. I don?t have a problem with players going to whatever specialist makes them feel most comfortable and confident, if it means they will be fit for next season.

I think it would be fitting if the fans and the players swapped places.

As we trundle round the pitch they could applaud us for paying their wages and supporting them week in week out.

The reason they are in Spain and Australia is that they are Spanish and Australian.
If they where English they would most likely be in England.

How about free Chang all day and sod the lap of honour?

Darrel have you tasted Chang?

I?d sooner do a lap of honour.

Running round the pitch pretending to enjoy it is to most professional sportsmen the equivalent of having to go to the office party. We go because we have to not because our hearts in it.Please don’t make the mistake of thinking players get the same joy as the supporters.I can assure you we are seen as a necessary evil.

Watch the DVD for last season Dan and tell me that the players don’t enjoy the lap of honour!

If Neville, Vaughan and Anichebe are acting they should be plying their trade in one of Kenwright’s West End shows. AJ said, ’’ I looked around and thought, What a club!! It was brilliant. ’’

Don’t be so cynical!

I was thinking the same Karl. It must be Hell to walk around the ground with your family whilst 30 odd thousand fans cheer you on.

I would rather go to an office party and avoid eye contact with the top bosses in case they saunter over and start talking shop....

Oh and sorry for this Chris but your thread is a bit daft seeing as both have just undergone surgery.

Chris how can I put this...who gives a fuck? I?m more concerned by the fact that we alawys seem to have so many injured players, and also the fact that Arteta has been shit all season, I wouldn?t want to applaud him.

I completely agree with Chris Dwyer, these players are paid by the club, we achieved 5th place, we have Bellfield, why on earth do these players need to go to Australia and Spain for a check up? looks fishy to me!! They are paid shed loads of money...they have a duty to the fans, but we are talking footballers here!!

Will Bruce, certain players have certain doctors and medical staff they trust and use frequently on injuries. Nothing wrong with that.

People have also overlooked the psychological strain of having surgery without family members around.
To be in a foreign country (regardless if you work there) without your family and having to undergo surgery that if done wrong can end your career is traumatic on its own.
The players have gone ’home’ to have family support in the surroundings they grew up in.

Why would anyone not aplaud Arteta? He has been our best player for the last 3 seasons. He got injured this season. I think some of you would want to cop on. Arteta has being great for Everton. There are a lot of clubs that would love to have him. If he went ,see what we would have then.

Arteta was barely out of surgery by the time the last match was played. Tim went home about a month ago. It?s called freedom. The players are not chattle. They are free by the terms of their contracts to seek medical aid with the approval of the club from any source. James Vaughan had surgery in the USA.

Will, Bellfields gone to be replaced by Finch Farm. If the lads have their own specialists then fair play. Lets hope they are sorted for Autumn?

Chris Dwyer, Anyone with enough money and half an excuse and half a brain would not dream of staying in the likes of Crosby when he could swap it for a laid back lifestyle on the warm sultry white sandy beaches of Spain and Australia.

Don’t kid yourself that these mercenary foreign footballers earning a fortune in UK football are living there because they love the place.
I doubt there would be many that will hang around for a split second once the money dries up.
Only a total idiot would expect them to.
