Not who but what?

Today's papers are full of speculation about Diarra. This in itsself is not really that interesting due to the amount of rumors.
For me what is more interesting is that they all claim Moyes wil have significant funds to spend. The numbers are sketchy at best but they all seem very sure that much money will be available.

The quality of players where getting linked to is promising. It just shows Moyes is looking to push us up a level. More than not there rumours but some will have some truth to them. Hopefully it also means we had a decent budget.
I’m happy with the Diarra link. Good player and exactly what we need. Tidy player with a good engine and good defensive qualities.

All the papers grabbed hold of the story of Wyness sayin that the board will back Moyes, so assume its with a fair bit of cash! However, no figures have been mention publicly and rightly so, the last thing we need is every man and his dog knowing how much cash Everton have, it just bumps prices up!

But Everton have distanced themselves from claims that former Liverpool youngster Alou Diarra was being considered.
Diarra did not play a senior game with Liverpool in his stay at the club, but has since become a full France international and would cost ?million from Bordeaux.
However, it is understood that Moyes is not in the hunt for the player, while suggestions that he will move for West Brom’s out of contract Hungarian midfielder Zoltan Gera have also been dismissed.
Gera would have been a good squad player but 8mil for Diarra? Amazing.

Don't know to much about this player but from what I have read and heard by other people he is a quality player similar to Carsley/Sissoko Defensive Midfield that can also play Centre Back.
I also have heard from the midlands that Carsley will only be leaving Everton if we had a replacement lined up. So something could be imminent! ps have you seen the size of this lad? ? he is fooking huge!

The best sense I can make of this is that if an important announcement or two isn’t made very soon, there is something badly wrong here. He can’t have let Cars go if there wasn’t a plan A, let alone a plan B. The deed has been done.
At least we’re on to Cluedo now instead of the more usual FM.

I know the Summer Transfer Window ends on 31 Aug (I think!) but when does/did it open? Is it 1 June? All I?ve seen are references to ?when the season ends?. What?s that mean, then? After the last PL game?

Phil, I believe the summer window officially opens 1 July, howeve, clubs can agree deals before this date. Bosmans can be signed at any time.
Hope this helps, Tomos

I hear Paul Scholes is on his way. After the CL final. A friend of Ossie says so.

Those of you thinking that there’s an (almost obvious) connection between "letting Carsley go" and bidding for Diarra (or anyone else) may wish to ponder on the fact that Cars was out of contract. The decision to go was his alone to make. He was not "let go", he just went. And fair play to him, he’s been fantastic for us.

Alan,
That is a fair point, Carsley wasn’t really ’ours’ to let go but you would have thought that with what happened last summer where we missed out on Manny Moyes has really got something in the pipeline that is at least at an advanced stage or he would have fought tooth and nail to keep Carsley by maybe offering him a two year deal or something. He has made a number of references to ’having to move fast at thos stage of the season with some deals’ which I think refers to Bosman signings so maybe there is a gem out there to replace Carsley and is on a free?

Alan, I think Carsley had said that he would speak to Moyes before he decided to leave and if Moyes was bringing someone else in he may go so while you are right, he was out of contract, there may be truth in the statement.

Best rumour I've heard so far is Ever Banega on Spanish radio hinting that he, Joaquin and Fernandes are subject of a bid from a ?promising Premier League club?! Oh to dream.......

But you know and I know, Andy, that to play the speculating game means weeks of trawling the transfer news, getting excited, getting depressed when we don?t sign anyone or someone beats us to someone we were hoping to sign and, at the end of the day, Davey will sign who he wants to sign and might give us some surprises or groans.
Don?t heed me - enjoy yourself - perhaps I am just getting old but not disillusioned!!!
