Coefficient ranking

Could someone please explain to me what happens to our ranking now that Porto and CSKA Sophia are out of European competitions? I have looked at UEFA website amongst others and they seem to have last year's standings listed. Any ideas?

Porto and CSKA Sophia don’t magically lose points, they just don’t get to play in Europe next year. Juventus missed out on European football for two years but they’re still listed well above us as they amassed a lot of points in the three years before.

What does it mean for us? In the virtual list of teams playing in Europe next year we climb one place but as FC Porto would play in the Champions League anyway it doesn’t matter too much. CSKA Sophia are 110th in the list so I don’t really see how that could affect us. In the longer run this means we could catch up with Porto as they currently have their points for winning the CL in 2004 and they’ll lose those next year as it is on a 5-year base. As they do not enter Europe this year they’ll end up losing about 22 points (which is a lot). If we take as much points as we did this year, we’ll be above them next year in the Uefa-coefficients-list. Yay!

I used the site http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/index.html , which doesn’t look like an official site but is by far the best and most up-to-date site if you’re interested in uefa-rankings.
