Olivier Dacourt - Carlsey replacement?

Comments (20)

An Italian mate of mine and Inter Milan fan says one of their fan sites is saying Dacourt has been released from his contract and has had contact from the Blues about returning to Goodison. I know he is 32 but could he be a good low-cost, short-term fix?

As backup I’d take him. We do need a younger more mobile player though. Dacourt is certainly better than Carsley though so he’d improve us.

I always liked Dacourt. Real shame he had to leave when he did. I thought he was one of the positives of the season he was here.

Did he like it here?

Didn’t Dylan and the Boss (Springsteen) say - Don’t look back! - FFS - Let’s look to the future and get away from the bargain basement - experience and cheap - we suffered from before Gentleman Moyes got the freedom to move forward. No going back - pleeeaaaasssse!

This news definitely has my endorsement!

As a short term fix/ backup, Dacourt would be an excellent signing.

He knows the club, he knows the Premiership, he can pass, he can tackle, he is free and he has a great engine... What’s the problem?

Would be a nice stopgap.

I know the silly season is here but this is one of the silliest !

All I remember of Dacourt is a mercenary who was off the minute the going got tough. I think he was / is over rated as a footballer too. Moreover, saying ’he knows the Premiership’; don’t think so, as the style and pace has moved on significantly since he was at Goodison.

Most importantly not only has the EPL moved on, but so have we.

I don’t think there will be any rumours with substance until towards the end of the Euros (I think this lad Ramsey will take the road to Old Trafford or Highbury, although I hope I’m wrong).

Still it fills newpaper column inches........

As a replacement for Gravesen, Dacourt would make a good fit. Anyone of us who follows the Italian scene would know that the lad is finished and Inter just want rid.

No way!!! We need to be signing young box to boxers, not fading old farts! I imagine there is a reason he is being ?let go?! The last thing we need is another massive wage bill for a has-been, why not just resign Grav!?

Invest in Michael Johnson, buy up Manny and beg steal and borrow to get João Moutinho. Imagine all that potential, they are all 22 and under and any combo of those 3 in the middle for us would be just the tonic!

Here?s to dreaming...

I met him briefly in Milan in February. Said I was an Evertonian and he kind of looked at me as if I had HIV or something - conversation kind of ended....
Be very surprised if he came back

Graham: I’m not surprised he looked at you with some disdain. You literally collar an ex-player in the street and expect him to want to have a chat with you. Anyone doing that to me would likely receive a verbal dressing down at the very least. What the feck gives you the right to treat people you don’t know and who have no connection to you as public property? It’s people like you that give the general public a bad name in celebrity circles. Focus on your own life and not the lives of others. Remember, to the famous, you’re just one step away from being their next stalker. Think man, just sit down and think!

If we’re going down that road - which we are not - I’d like to see Materazzi back for another go.

Now, if he’d been playing against Villareal, would history have been different?. Would the corrupt Collini have disallowed Dunc’s goal - would he have dared to? We will never know.

Hey while we’re at it - Don Hutchison has apparently been released by Luton Town! Ok he might not have the legs he used to, but think how good he used to be... anyone’s worth a try as a stop-gap, squad player, especially if they used to play for us, right??

’Simple’ Simon, you really are simple aren’t you?!?!!?
What on earth are you bangin on about? It’s only natural for people to go up to celebrities, especially footballers. Without us, the fans, they would not be where they are today, and certainly wouldn’t have the money!!
It’s part and parcel so get over yourself.....

As we are 4 down on numbers from early Januray in a squad that needed to strenghen then, I’d take any one who isn’t Scottish!!

Andrew: I’m pleased you could drag yourself away from your hobby as a "celebrity stalker" to call me names.

Fuck that; we don't want that clown back.

We need people that want to play for the club.

We should get him over here and just as he is about to sign the contract, whip iut away from under him and tell him to piss off.

Revenge is sweet. COYB......

What would be the point as he?d be suspended every 6th game.

"he can tackle" - see my point above.
