Ticket Help

Comments (23)

I am an American Blue (If I can say that) living in New York City. I started following Everton a few years ago and have grown closer to the squad with every passing game. I have met a group of Everton Supporters here in the city. Most of them are from Merseyside. They have definitely been more then hospitable to an outsider looking to join the fray.

Anyway, to the point already. I would like nothing more then to see them up close at Goodison. I was trying to figure out the best way to aquire tickets and make the trip over the pond.

I was checking out flights (any good bets?) and saw the best rates seem to be around $700 or £350. Is the fall the best time to make the trip,or winter? Any help from the local blues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Not sure why anyone would say you can’t call yourself an american blue, sounds fine to me :-)

The xmas period will be great but flight tickets will no doubt be much more expensive. Best to look at the fixture list and pick out matches you like before looking at flights. A good move might be to wait for European games and catch an everton match under the floodlights. Its magic. That way you can spend the day in liverpool, have a few lagers and then watch to game with fellow blues.

Matthew, if you make the trip, you will fly into Manchester airport, just 40mins away from Liverpool.
I am sure you will find some good offers, thru your local travel agents or on the internet.
As for match tickets, obtain a copy of the fixtures. and plan your trip, some matches will be moved from the Saturday, to the Sunday, for live tv.
The re-arranged fixtures will be out in the next month.
Providing you plan early, you should have no problem with tickets.
Hope you make the trip, I am sure you will enjoy.

I would also suggest if you want to go to a Sky 4 game, that you book your ticket as soon as they come on sale, as they are usually sell outs.

As above if you are coming for a week I would deffinitely suggest coming when we have a home game then a Wafer Cup game, Goodison under the floodlights is an amazing experience.

Matthew, I am sure you will enjoy your experience of coming over to the city and watching your first game(s), I have supported EFC for 55 yrs, and still get a buzz when matchday arrives, and I take my seat in the park end. If you take the advice of Gavin, Norman and Tony, and select your trip and games well in advance, taking into account any match day changes due to tv games, you should have no problem with tickets.

The travel I might be able to help you with, as I been to the US for the last 3 winters, and found that you can get really good flight prices from and including new years eve throughout January. It is best to travel on Sun, Tues or Wed, and you have a choice of airlines flying into Manchester, with a good train service to our city centre.

With the fuel situation as it is, who knows if some of the airlines will still be in business, but I find that Continental and Delta continually give the best prices, even though they are not the most ideal for most people, and they fly from NY and Newark, but you should get a really good price from any of them if you shop around, and do it well in advance. I wish you luck with your quest and don't be afraid to ask for further help, enjoy,

Matthew, nice to see that there are blues in NYC. I’m a Giants fan, and it’s interesting to see that people over there seem to be taking as great an interest in football (soccer) as some of us over here do in the NFL. If you need help getting tickets, I’d be happy to help. If you e-mail me l.spargo1@ntlworld.com when you know your dates, then I will sort it for you. All the best.

Matt,

I love to read stuff like is, to know that everton is attracting support from different countries, even with the sky three doing what they do every year (bastards), It makes me proud, is that sad? I don?t know. Anyway I hope you make the trip, I hope you get good seats, (park end, gladwys st, best atmos, essential for the experience), I hope you pick a good game (can?t agree more with the guys, pick a night match, thurs night eufa game, probably cheaper for flights midwk too). Finally let this site know when you are coming and I am sure someone could point you in the right direction pre match, perhaps meet you for a couple of changs before or after the game. Here?s to the toffee?s and all who love them like only we can.

Matthew

Glad to hear of another true blue, no matter where he or she comes from. I am going to be in New York city in mid August and would love to be able to have a beer or two with some fellow blues whilst over there. Where is the best place to meet up with God’s chosen fans? Any help appreciated.

This is why I love everything about Everton. The support is tremendous and the enthusiasm is off the charts. For any Blue coming to NYC, we meet at a pub called Mr. Dennehy’s in the West Village. Also, some of the dates that I was looking at were the October 5th game against Newcastle (maybe that thursday UEFA game will be home). Also the November 1st game against Fulham. I was messing around with the ticket exchange on the Everton website and seem to be having a problem registering as the system failed to recognize my postal code as a valid one. I emailed them but to no avail. Anyway, thank you all for the great advice and support. COYB. thanks again.

Flyglobespan stopped those flights.

Delta to Manchester from JFK is normally the cheapest option.

I’m in NYC also - where do you guys watch the games?

I reckon it would be cheapest to swin here....!!!!!!! Might take some time and effort though.

Get on to Delta’s site they will sort you out.

Tickets can be bought from the Everton web-site bud.

I will say though thta my drive home of 210 miles is bad enough after we get stuffed; I would chose your game carefully or you might be in for a LONG journey home again....!!!!!!!!!

Safe journey bud.

Hi Matthew,

I am an expat Blue living in Canada. In May I got to see the mighty blues play Newcastle in the last game of the season. I managed to get my tickets through a site called "Viagogo", I belive its run in conjunction with EFC season ticket holders who for whatever reason need to sell there tickets.

I found it relativley easy to use once you have singed up.

Hope it all works out for you, I know we had a brilliant day out when we went. Everton supporters are the best anywhere and the atmosphere in Goodison is fantastick

What is the proper format for registering your postal code on the EFC website? I cannot register because my zip code comes up invalid

I’m also an American Blue living in Boston and have been to Mr Dennehy’s in NYC several times to watch the matches. Fantastic place.

I went over to Liverpool for my first match last October and saw us beat Boro 2-0 (1st goal - Lescott header, 2nd goal - peanuts crafty little slide shot to beat the keeper) It was simply an amazing trip. Goodison is incredible, I think I was the last blue fan out of the street after the match at 2am! Anyways, getting a ticket is really quite easy, I simply looked at the website for when they went on sale and bought one online. They mailed it to me in about 2 weeks at my home in Boston If you’re worried about availability you can become a "Evertonian" through the website which allows you to purchase early. In terms of flights, I flew into London and then caught a train. It was the cheapest route. Looking forward to another visit this coming season! Perhaps even the Derby!

Hey, whats a good Everton Hotel to stay in? I stayed in a place called the Pineapple Hotal which was brilliant but its a shrine to the Redside. I have some hilarious photos of myself holding up my everton scarf in front of the giant neon sign they have in the bar that says "you’ll never walk alone". All extremely friendly guys, especially Kevin Nolan’s grandfather who bought me a few pints! Real class acts all of them, Apparently they’d never met an American Blue before!

Have a great trip!

Matthew, Davin

Its great to see support from our American cousins. I hope you guys enjoy the games when your over here, and the area offers you the warm welcome that it is renownwed for. I am nearly 45 and have been supporting the blues since I could talk, but hearing Z Cars calling the faithful to their feet before the start of the game still makes me shiver with pride. I hope you guys get that same buzz when your at Goodison.

Welocome to the family.

PS. Do you kow any US billionnaires with a few million dollars to spare on a football club.

PPS. And I dont mean Stadler and Waldorf - As they are already fucking up the red shite lol

Mr Dennehy’s, west village, made a note of that mucka, I don’t get over to NYC much, only twice ever infact, but next time, I’m gonna go, find a couple of toffee’s, talk football/soccer and I’m gonna get bolloxed like only the lower middle class can.

Thanks. I will put Dennehy’s on my list and will wear my Everton shirt when I go in. It will be between 23rd and 28th August, so if you are in there and I am in my true blue colours, say hello.
