Two New Signings

Comments (7)

For me, the fact that Tim and Mikel have signed new contracts is in effect like new signings, no doubting that massive amounts of time was spent on negotiating those players contracts, because they're the future.

I admit yes i'm anxious about the lack of signings, but they'll start to happen now. Moyes is back from Holiday and the transfer window is now offically open.

I have no doubt we have more than £10M to spend, it's just a case of waiting and doing it the Everton way, quiet and effective.

I cannot for the world understand all this clamour for a string of new signings. The players released played little or no part in getting us up to sixth position and once the Jagielka deal is sewn up, the squad will require only an additional midfielder to restore it to last year`s numbers.

sebastian - don’t you think we need to add to our already small squad with a view to competing successfully in the UEFA Competion.

If we proceed in this competition then our team, as at present, would be playing a lot more games than last season and I, for one, think we should sign at least another four players.

What do other folk think?

What`s the betting the team for the opening fixture will be:-
Howard;
Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Valente;
Arteta, Carsley, Cahill, Osman;
Johnson and Vaughan
with Jagielka on the bench?

Forget the likes of Fernandes,Nugent and Smith ?there will be one or two `squadies` brought in on deadline day as well as the re-signing of Dickie Wright ? but that`s yer lot, I`m telling you. Money`s tight this summer, I assure you!

Do it the Everton way you say.So you want the manager and the board to dither and mess around over wages and payments.You want the board to make up names of potential signings to keep the fans happy ie Shearer,owen.

You want us to put in bids lower than bids already agreed by clubs chasing certain players.

You want us to mess about in the transfer market with out making a deal right up untill the last seconds of the window closing.

You want us to sell our best players to bigger richer clubs and recieve only a pittance of what they are worth and then most of it in dribbs and drabbs.

Ah the Everton way.Fantastic bloody marvellous it is.

Having just returned from 2 weeks in the sun and just made contact with the internet the fact that Arteta and Cahill have signed contract extensions is most welcome, however it is foolish to see them as new signings. I was hoping that by now we would have added to our threadbare squad, irons are undoubtedly in fires on the transfer front but with pre-season training started activity is needed soon

Tony,
Glad someone else saw the hypocrisy in BK?s definition of "The Everton Way", reading most of the responses to my posting last Friday I thought it was just me. To the list we can add "announcing" false signings on the Official Website. My belief is well and truly beggared!
Meanwhile Blackburn sign top Dutch U21 guy "quietly, efficiently and away from the glare of the spotlight".
