There's way too much going on in the new Everton website.

Do these guys not know anything about good site design and user navigation or are they just trying to ram as much marketing down our throats as possible.

Please TW, don't follow these guys as the example.

Rest assured, Dan. We were here long before they were — yours truly actually interviewed with Agent Johnson for the Webmaster position at EFC 10 years ago! — and we only ever do things our way :)

That’s good to hear Lyndon! Out of interest, what were your impressions of Agent Johnson when you met him? He kinda reminds me of Richard Nixon.

Despite the Park Foods HQ in Birkenhead being a bit impersonal, he was very personable and was keen to spell out his ambitions for the club.

It was amusing because it was right around the time we were after Ravanelli, had just been rejected by Andy Gray and were about to re-appoint Howard Kendall so he kept breaking off our chat to take calls and receive faxes.

He had no clue about the Web, though, so much of the interview was taken up with me explaining how it all works and how it could benefit EFC. He seemed genuinely stunned at what were modest salary requirements too.

In the end, they went with a local agency and probably paid much, much more but much of what I had proposed in a presentation I gave him was implemented on the new official site. It all worked out, though; had I taken that job I wouldn’t be able to run TW! :)

And running TW, you have the artistic license of course..

Wonder if he still has his hamper business - no-one really buys them anymore do they? Frys turkish delight, tins of ham and crackers. Brilliant!

Everton - owned by a hamper man followed by a camp theatre man. Dear oh dear!

Johnson still has his business - in fact he announced record profits of over £10.2 m last year. Having said that business is well down (30%) this year post the Farepax scandal last Christmas.
