More Seeding Info

Whilst not having much to do last night, I've delved further into this seeding malarkey.

As it stands, if every team qualifies as the Uefa rankings would suggest, then we will be seeded in 36th place (out of 40) and, due to the way Uefa do their drawings for the Uefa Cup, it would suggest that we would be playing one of Litx Lovech (Bulgaria), Odense (Denmark), Artmedia Petrzalka (Slovakia), Aberdeen (Scotland) or Fredrikstad (Norway).

The best-case scenario would see us seeded 18th and most likely playing Trans Narva (Estonia), Banants (Armenia), Rhyl, Torshavn (Faroe Islands) or Rudar Pljevlja (Montenegro).

Worst-case would see us ranked 45th and playing one of Bayern Munich, Panathinaikos, Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine), Levski Sofia (Bulgaria) or Partizan Belgrade (Serbia).

Steve Levski Sofia are playing in CL qualifiers and are seeded in the second and third round.

When will the draw be made? After last year’s debacle I’m hoping for a relatively straightforward / local tie.

Just seen the blades are down, hopefully that’s jagielka to be the first of many!

Stefan, just to answer your point, Levski Sofia are one of the more possible opponents in our worst case scenario (i.e. loads of teams with a better rating than us are in the UEFA Cup), hence we wouldn’t be seeded, but they would.

Fair point, I do really hope that we play Levski as they are in transition right now.
