I think DM has been very wise to extend the unknown Brazilian's stay with us, we need more numbers. Also it seems weird that players now 'want' to come to Everton - we are not known as the most well-heeled club, but despite that Smith, Nugent and Koumas have all been found guilty of expressing an interest to come to the home of Football.

Despite this Everton have been cautious with Nugent and rightly so, perhaps things are looking up for us. I feel real optimism for the forthcoming season, not like before though, a more calm and balanced feeling. Dare I mention the Man Fernandes? No! Who cares, if he wants to come along for the ride then fine, if not then to blazes with him and his superb if unpolished skills.

David, maybe Moyes didn’t have a choice but to tie Da Silva to us for another year.Maybe it’s a sign that there will not be too many new players coming in.At the end of the day, Moyes couldn’t have rated him that much because he hardly got a sniff in the first team.He is probalby on buttons a week and he’s here just to make the numbers up.

Brian, maybe your being a bit too cynical-if not unfounded, taking the examples Bosnar and Plessis of previous years. However, I’ve some unfounded belief that we may see a bit more of this Anderson de Silva in the coming season (barring any major disasters we will be playing 50 odd games next season). He’s 24,has apparently impressed in reserve games(i know that doesn’t quiet compare to the prem) and as a Brazilian must have decent ball control(I know that is incredibly stereotypical!). Carsley, though having being a great servant for the club, doesn’t have the legs to cope with so many games and for the previous couple of seasons has been increasingly shown to have a severe lack dynamic mobility
(he petrols the back four like a crab, which is brilliant in games agianst the big clubs but limiting against lesser opposition or in a four-man midfield).De Silva could offer us this much needed mobility..envisage a similar role to Gilberto Silva at Arsenal..ok, maybe I am getting a bit too optimistic. But, I believe that Moyes isn’t really in the market for a player in the DM mould, instead concentrating on other areas that need strengthening(LM,DF). However, stating that, I’ve noticed that Matheiu Flamini has become available on a free-at 23,he has considerable CL experience, combines guile with finesse and is able to operate a number of different roles (including LB) it would criminal for Moyes not to show an interest in him!
