My Twopenneth

For what it's worth, here is my twopenneth. With the emergence of Anchebe and Vaughan and with Johnson and McFadden able to play in the Main Striker role, I don't think Moyes will go for Nugent. I'll also stick my neck out and say that the first 4-4-2 we see will have Beattie and Johnson in the leading roles. Jagielka looks like a certainty, but Smith holds a lot of appeal, for midfield not least as he can "fill-in" if any of the five strikers named above (yes, five) are out. If those two arrive, that would give some much-needed competition in midfield where Ossie would be the loser.

At the back, Joey and Joleon are racing certainties for starting. The right-back berth will belong to Phil Neville with cover from our long-term future right back Tony Hibbert. The left-back berth leaves me a bit concerned. Valente, is the current pick of the bunch but carries injuries and is also getting on a bit. I'd like to see Leighton Baines of Wigan being brought in, as No 1 left-back and, once in place, there would then be sufficient cover throughout the team, with perhaps the centre-half position having the least cover with just Stubbsy to fit in:

Howard;
Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Baines; Arteta, Cahill, Smith, Jagielka; Johnson, Beattie

Subs: Turner, Stubbs, Valente, McFadden, Vaughan

I'm usually way off the mark, so I'm prepared for the flack. Remember, it was me who done a report on James Vaughan playing for the rezzies against manure a couple of years back and said he was crap... Nurse!!!! Five weeks and counting.

I'll say.... Once again, anyone playing Fantasy Footy with the Everton line-up and not including Osman or Carsley ? two of Davie's absolute faves ? is way off base. ALso, it's about haveing a SQUAD, so you itinerant fantasists should really be naming two players for each position.

Frankly, I hope Davy doesn’t get sucked in to buying Alan Smith. I think he looks a lazy player and so won’t fit in with the team ethic. Both Ozzie and Cars are better players. Jagielka would be a good buy and, I agree with Mark Joseph, Baines would be a good choice for left of defence.

Michael do we have two players for each position with our huge squad?

Alan Smith may be a number of things, but he certainly is not lazy. He seems to have calmed his temper since being at Man Utd... which was the main concern most people had about a highly rated striker. Obviously he has not had a great many opportunities to show his potential since recovering from an horrific injury, but by all accounts it’s been his professionalism and hard work which effectively saved his career.
Obviously it is speculation as to whether we can sign him, but personally I’d like to see him come to our club. Even if he does not however, I would suggest that he would be an asset to any team in the Premiership.

I think that signing Jagielka is a must, he can cover right accross the back four, something DM likes his defenders to do (Lescott at Left back) and remember Yobo will be off to the African Nations at some point this season, possibly why Stubbs got an extra years contract.

What a load of bollocks.How can you put Beattie in a side before Vaughan.Beattie should be well gone by now along with Avdm and Mcfadden.

Smith,Baines and Jagielka have yet to be signed thats if they ever are so the whole make up of your team plus subs is fantasy football.

Having said that your assumption that Beattie will be in the side may not be that far off the mark.

I was worried about this topic weeks ago but like every one else I thought Biffa would be shipped out.

Looks like the Genius Moyes will give James his 5th second chance after all.
