Richard Wright Transfer

Comments (39)

I read from the site that Tricky Dicky has joined West Ham. Pity we were not able to have a "Tim Howard Type Clause" in the deal. In the way we would not play Tim against United, it would have been nice to have forced West Ham TO have to play Richard against us.

I remember 10 years ago the debate with my boss (who was an Ipswich fan) over who was the best young goalkeeper in Britain. He said their goalie Wright and I said our new one, Simonsen. How wrong we both were.

If they play him for the season there’ll be no doubting whether they go down this time.
It won’t matter how many strikers they have poor Dicky will let in more goals than they score.

Alternatively, he could prove us all wrong and play a blinder. What’s that you say? A pig, flying, well I never.

His choice of club just goes to show why he never managed to develop into the keeper many people thought he would be. Any player with hunger who’s been sat on the bench for several years would go to a club where they were almost guaranteed 1st team football. To trade being 2nd choice at one club for 2nd/3rd at another just shows dickie has no hunger or desire to be a top keeper and is just happy to pick up his pay and never play. Maybe i’m being a bit hard on him, afterall the poor lad must shell out a bucket load of dosh every year for his bupa treatments!

Instead of worrying about Richard Wright you should be worrying why Moyes has failed to ship out the other wasters like Beattie and Shandy Andy. Why have these two been kept on? I definitely expected them to be gone by now but they are both up in Jockland with the squad.

The money saved on wages for these two clowns could have gone towards the Nugent deal. That now looks dead because we are skint. No fucking wonder we are potless when we keep paying the likes of AvdM.

Tony, what relevance is your latest outburst to the original post? Surely TW could have headlined your usual eloquent post as its latest feature.

The reason why Beattie and Van der Meyde are still at Everton is a simple thing called a contract. Oh, and the presumed absence of anyone wanting to buy them from us.

While they are employees of the company, it would be ludicrous to leave them both at home on garden leave - how else would you expect to flog them if they turn into useless lumps of lard (ok, bigger, more useless lumps of lard, then)?

But, of course, it’s all David Moyes’ fault - how I wish he’d never become Everton manager! (no doubt he did a rain dance in June which induced all this flooding we’ve had, too?)

Bob we are constantly being told there is no money for new players
so therefore it makes sense to get shut of some to make funds available.

Its taken Moyes 5 years to realise Wright was useless of course its relevant.

If it takes 5 years to realise that Beattie and Shandy are useless then Moyes
aint no genius.

As for pointing the finger of blame who was it that signed these wasters in the first place? I think you will find it was your hero Moyes Bob so its down to him to get rid of them.

Knocking back approaches for Beattie isnt helping anyone.

Are you really that thick mate.

7   Posted 05/07/2007 at 12:48:55

Tony, why do you come on a message board for a football club that you support, which is also frequented by other supporters of the same club and (in the main) incite people to argue with you? Surely we’re all on the same side and your outbursts (which is essentially what they are) only serve to make you look rather childish. As a result, any relevant point you may have is lost in a diatribe of spitting bile.

Please go away and construct a better ’argument’ for you points, otherwise stop cluttering up every post with meaningless and unhelpful rants.

Thankyou.

I am beginning to worry for David Moyes I think he may need police protection from Tony Marsh.

?Fucking gobshite Moyes?.

A bit harsh it must be said.

I?ve only been reading toffeeweb regularly for the last six month or so and I have been struck by Tony?s viscous hatred of Moyes. Have I missed something did Moyes run of with Tony?s wife, run over his pet dog, did DM park in Tony?s favourite spot at the Tesco car park. I can?t be the only one who thinks Tony has an almost psychotic hatred of DM. I am beginning to worry for the personal safety of David Moyes.

Does Tony know how to do anything other than moan and moan and moan? It must be a very sad and lonely existance if something so great as supporting a your club leaves you feeling so negative and angry all the time. Will someone buy the fella a pair of rose tinted glasses, and lets try SUPPORTING the boys this season?!

Without turing this into a witch hunt, I’d just like to say that this isn’t a sleight on Tony ’Ive right got it in for David moyes’ Marsh. I would personally like to suggest that David Moyes is the best manager we’ve had since Kendall, and in many ways a better manager than Sir Howard for the forward thinking he’s brought to us in making us a competitive force in one of the worlds toughest leagues.

There, I said it!

I reckon I know a bit about goalkeeping having played there at a decent level and reared two sons to do likewise.Whatever the shortcomings of Richard Wright,I will state positively that he is a far better keeper than Turner.I cannot believe that Moyes will go into the season with the Scot as his main back-up.I was rather hoping Wright might stay on but I believe money was a big issue.

I don’t ever respond to messages on toffeeweb but do read them at least once or twice a day.
I felt I had to respond to Mr Marsh’s last ouburst. I do feel his comments are becoming increasingly ofensive and I think it is time he was banned from posting on Toffeeweb for a period of time.

Tony, I’m not even going to bother rising to your "reasoned arguments" about Wright, Beattie and Van der Meyde, because I’m wasting my breath with you.

However, I will pull you up on your "thick" comment, if only because it’s so easy for me to do.

"definitely" is not spelt "definetly"

"now" is not spelt "noe"

"Nugent" is not spelt "Nuggent"

It’s "could have gone", not "could of gone"

If you’re going to spell everything phonetically, I think you need to return to school, mate! And let someone else in the asylum have a go on the computer, please!

Sorry If I have offended anyone
with my outbursts which have left some of you poor dears upset.Dont worry though because everything is just bloody marvellous at EFC these days isnt it?

While most of you lap up the shite that this club serves up to its fans others like me are not so pleased with it.

We are a laughing stock in this city no make that the whole North West at present and the Liverpudlian hordes are loving it.

Just take a look at whats going on
with regards to EFC and tell me why I should be jumping through hoops.

The potless chairman and his baldy side kick want to drag us out of the city and in to Outer Mongolia while the reds are building a new super stadium yards from our spiritual home Goodison Park.

They go out and sign the hottest young striker in Europe and will probably add 2 or 3 more world class stars very soon.We get Jagielka and it looks like James Beattie for another season.

The fans are constantly lied to and conned out of thier hard earned season ticket money by a board with less vision than Steve Wonder and a manager quite happy to go along with it all.

Whats so great about Everton these days that makes it a sin to critisize the people running it.

Yes I am a supporter but it doesnt mean I have to be so blind as to go along with any old crap we fed by BK & co .We have even got one of you out there saying Moyes is a better manager than Kendall.

FFS and this guy is having a pop at me.Call me back Bluenose when Moyes has got 2 league titles an Fa Cup and a European trophy under his belt. All in 5 years.

Terry. Please don’t respond again if all you can contribute is suggesting someone is banned.
Tony has his opinion and expresses it in his way. I actually agree with quite a lot of what he says, but i express it in my way.
Bob, don’t get involved in slanging matches mate, it does you no justice and just takes away from the reasoned debate you usually have to offer.
Moyes has proven to often in the past that when it counts he falls short.

18   Posted 05/07/2007 at 14:44:35

Tony - what I actually said was, ?that David Moyes is the best manager we?ve had SINCE Kendall, and IN MANY WAYS a better manager than Sir Howard for the forward thinking he?s brought to us in making us a competitive force in one of the worlds toughest leagues?

I didn?t say he was more successful, but that he was more forward thinking and had perhaps taken us on to another level. Kendall was more successful, I can?t argue with that.

You appear to be a very angry man, and to psychologise you further I?ll wager you come from a background of anger, perhaps an unhappy childhood living with an angry parent or parents who never paid you the attention you thought you deserved. As a result you have lead a life where you think the right way to go is to attack people in an attempt to gain both attention for yourself and recognition in a world that you feel is spinning away merrily while you watch from the outside.

Bullying your opinions onto other people will simply alienate you further from a society that is already sick of people like you.

Shouting the loudest may have got you attention as a child Tony, but as adults the best way to get people to listen to with reasoned argument and open debate, 2 things which you clearly lack Sir.

Good day.

PS If I sound pompous then I?ve succeeded.

Point taken, Dave, and I agree, but sometimes the red (apologies for the use of this word!) mist descends, usually when someone says I’m thick!

I just wish sometimes that everyone could get in a big group hug, love each other as Everton fans, and roar our ream on to success - maybe we should build our new ground in Utopia!

Sorry, you call yourself a supporter but I am honestly convinced by the vitriol that constantly spills out of your blasphemous mouth [remember there are a lot of female supporters who read and contribute to this site and we don’t all want to read the F word as much as you sprout it] that you really are a LFC supporter masquerading as an evertonian in order to stir us all up. There would seem to be no other reason for the terrible hatred of David Moyes that you have. You appear to make a very bad enemy.

Dave Lynch, I posted my comment about Tony Marsh being banned as his coments are increasingly becoming offensive I suspect to many readers. Debate is great but being offensive to others is not. If this type of thing continues I suspect you should not be surprised if Mr Marsh plus the publishers of toffeeweb end up in a court room facing any of Moyes, Wyness, Kenwright, Beattie, Shandy or others. Do not forget their agents and solicitors probably read these comments on a daily basis.

Tony

I just don?t understand why you hate Moyes so much. The proposed ground moves has nothing to do with Moyes, neither does the (lack of) financing at the club.

From what I have seen Moyes has done more than any other manager since (yes I said since) those halcyon days of Howard Kendall Mk1. There has been nothing since (well half a season with Joe Royle) then. I think with the resources he has had Moyes has done a decent job, I am pretty sure Moyes would like to spend £27million on a player but its not going to happen and this is no fault of Moyes.

Why do you hate him so?

Don’t know what all this has to do with Richard Wright’s sad departure from Goodison.Like many of the more measured supporters,I tend to think he was hounded out on the back of one or two slip-ups.Strange how similar mistakes by young Turner were so easily forgiven but it goes to show that once Evertonians ’take against’you it’s curtains.
I guess it all becomes more understandable when you read the venomous outpourings of Tony Marsh &Co and my personal antagonist Gavin Thingy!

Might I suggest to all the normal, decent Everton supporters out there, that we get on with supporting our team, and leave Tony to his world of misery and pain.

Without the oxygen of controversy and publicity, his views will hopefully wither on the vine.

By biting, and I’m as guilty as anyone, we’re giving him what he wants.

Ladies and gents this is a message board for all viewpoints, I think in the past it was noted by the editorial team that one on one’s that got beyond banter would be banned and it’s easy to see from the letters page thread sizes which could stir up as much. Let’s kick one on one attacks out for our own sake, we could easily do the same down the boozer before and after games, we simply have our own ideas and expectations for the club some are happy others are not.

I fall into the not sure on Moyes and have very strong and published views on the management, people often disagree but don’t call for bans as you just end up with sterile and one sided tripe. Tony just has his own way of getting his point across and as posted by Bob the red mist does descend due to the non social medium of web posting where you simply can’t see your adversary; most people face to face wouldn’t say half the stuff they type here.

The answer to not being happy with what’s on offer is not to buy the product and I’ve been tempted many many times in recent years but I shut up and put come renewal time hoping for improvement, if it gets to the point where I am outpriced or that unhappy I’ll give up my hard earned to watching the match on the internet or in the pub and spend my cash on my family instead.

Now that’s done in response to Richard Wright only making a few mistakes he made calamitous ones which cost the club both points and goal difference, the defence never looked at ease with him behind them and falling over a sign which basically said don’t play here just about sums up his time at the club with far more bad memories than good.
