Number Nine Dream...?

So James Beattie retains the 'famous' No.9 Jersey for another season, unless there is a sudden change in DM's opinion we appear to be stuck with James for at least another six months. I like many other Blues hope that he lives up to the shirts history, but I must admit that after over 2 years it is unlikely that James will suddenly find his form. Sometimes players for whatever reason are not able to play for certain clubs and it does seem that way with James at Everton. If JB does manage to have a prolific season then nobody will celebrate as much as me. Good luck JB, I think you'll need it.

If, and it's a big if, he can score a few pre-season, I?d love to see him start on opening day. He has always been a streak player and if he could get on a run, he could score alot of goals, I still beleive that ? which is why I would rather we sign another couple of midfielders than say Nugent, the front line is where we are strongest.

Ian I’ve corrected your comment:

He’s big and if he can score a few pre-season I?d love to see him start on opening day. Has always been a steak player and if he could only run he could score alot of goals, i still beleive that...

I think it makes more sense.

It remains highly probable with the announcement of squad numbers for Beattie and Van Der Meyde that they will be still around until January at the earliest. Knowing Everton’s frugral transfer policy it is well known that player’s are seen as more valuable to potential suitors particularly those in trouble during the January window with any potential fee likely to be inflated. There is also the possibility that if they were omitted from the squad numbers that this would further damage their potential sell on value. One thing for sure Beattie and Van Der Meyde currently look slimmer, or are the skinheads deceptive
