Jags in; Gary Naysmith out? Fine by me; Gary is a decent guy and a good second-tier player but that does not even make him of squad quality at Goodison. Spare mid-fielder... you're having a laugh! Another wage freed up and a million quid more to the kitty... I'm calling that pretty good business.

Still the talk about Smith goes on... Serious question: Would you swop James Vaughan for the yellow-haired wonder? I agree that there are players in Holland, Sweden, France etc who would cost less than Richardson or Nugent and who would be a better bet than these expensive domestic players but Moyes likes 'locals'!

If we can keep Andy VDM's head out of the old pint pot, he could yet make a contribution. If Moyes has really learned his lesson after the Spurs debacle last season, we just might have a season worth watching...

Villa, West Ham and Newcastle have all replaced their top midfielders .... would anybody swap any of these serial failures for Arteta? Don't be silly! And on a final note on swaps... would you swap Big Victor for Nugent right now? I thought not. The vacant number One slot is encouraging. We do need an experienced keeper to back our excellent 'Man U reject' and it would be grand to see Turner going off to Sheffield or anywhere else... on season loan if not permanently. Nice lad but, like Naysmith, just not good enough to be better than the new Richard Wright and we need one of these like a hole in the head.

I wouldn’t touch Smith with a bargepole. The guys not bad but that’s all. Vaughny is a fucking class player. Some of the goals he scored last season were great. Given a full season the kid is only gonna get better. I genuinely believe we have a new star on our hands. By the way, I reckon Tony Marsh is a Liverpool fan trying to stir shit among us Blues. Just my opinion.

I agree about Vaughn. I think he may get 20 goals this season. The Naysmith deal is good allround. I hope he does well at Sheff Utd. He was a good servant for the club yet not of the quality needed to progress further. I fear this may be the same for big Vic. Just not quite good enough. Still, I hope I’m wrong.

Regarding Marsh, he’s a deffo Koptie!

Spot on, nothing to add but that I personally do not believe in a resurrection of AvdM.

Agree about Naysmith he wasnt good enough BUT he needs to be replaced
the squad is thin enough so any exits have to be replaced by better players
1 out then 1 in.

You can say that again.

I’d love to see VDM do well. Does anyone have any idea what type of player he was before he joined Everton? Was he actually any good when he wasn’t injured?
Since Kanchelskis, in fact in a fucking long time, we’ve had no winger who could put in a good cross or get the crowd up off it’s feet. The other wingers have been about as mobile as a dead dog! Kevin Kilbane would be even less!

He was class when he played in Holland, when he was signed by Inter he was considered one of the top talents in Europe.

VDM was touted as a world class player before joining us. There is no doubting his talent as a footballer it’s just the fact he has been given to many chances to show us.
Moyes needs to sign a new left winger, and I agree with Cyril, one that will get us up on our feet.

I remember Kanchelskis back in 1995/96. The guy was class. The best player I’ve seen in a blue shirt. He got 2 goals at Anfield against the shite then a hat-tick away at perhaps Sheff Wed. I say give Shandy a few months. The squad is thin on the ground and still lacking in class. If he doesn’t shape up then ship him out in January.

VDM is rubbish. Get rid! Lets try and flog him to Boro or Villa or some other daft twats!

I think we should appreciate the talent we have in our squad. We have some fine young talent up front and some quality midfielders and defenders. There’s some shit in there too, of course, but we have the makings of a top 4 team. I think this year the Arse are there for the taking. And the shite? Well, they’re shite!

I’d swap Big Vic for Nugent no probs. But no way I’d swap Vaughan for him. I’m suprised Marshy hasn’t responded to being called a Kopite. He sounds like one to me. Down with Marshy! The Red Shite infiltrator!

Tony Marsh, a Kopite? Nah, he speaks way to much sense to be one of them!

VdM might have been touted as world-class by his agent but he was finished along time before he joined Everton. His time in Italy was disasterous and marred by all the problems he’s had here. He’d been ’injured’(or just unfit)for months and I do recall a Dutch guy writing in to spell out just what we could expect. As Lyndon says,Moyes European network is crap and, after Kroldrup,Ferrari(who also gave him grief)and VdM he prefers to shop at home.
