Youth Players

Comments (6)

Let's try and focus on something positive instead of the usual lack of new signings boredom. With Osman, Hibbert and Rooney all coming through the youth team set-up to become established Prem players with Vaughan & Anichebe not far behind the question is which youngster will be next to make the step-up?

Jack Rodwell
Arguably Everton's most highly rated youngster since Wayne Rooney. Only 16 but is the star of all the England youth sides so far.

Bjarni Vidarsson
'The Enigma'. Did well during a loan at Bournemouth last season. Surely this is a make of break season for the once highly rated youngster.

Lukas Jutkiewicz
Young striker drafted in from Swindon. Has experience of first team football in lower league and has been given a squad number by Moyes.

Scott Spencer
Young striker drafted in from Oldham, although he never played for their first team. Moyes talked him up last season so maybe this season we'll get a look at him?

Patrick Boyle
Had a good pre-season last year then endured a torrid loan spell at Norwich. Came back injured for rest of season but is reportedly fit again.

John Ruddy
Dickie's gone so Ruddy is now officially 3rd choice goalkeeper unless you count that young foreign keeper we signed recently.

John Paul Kissock
Another highly rated youngster but last time I saw him play he made Osman look like the Terminator.

Which of these (or any others you know) do you think will be Everton stars of the future?

Another Dutch to add to the list is Jose Baxter who is a very promising forward and local lad who has represented England. Apparently Man United have been sniffing around both Rodwell and Baxter, would be great if they can continue to develop, get their chance and show the commitment to the Club as exemplified by Vaughan and Anichebe. However, Dutch the more immediate concerns and priorities are getting in some established player’s for next season to bolster our paper thin squad, one or two youngster’s introduced here and there is no bad thing but the reality is we need experience.

Dutch is back !!?? Long live the Dutch !
Where have you been ? London to see the Queen ?
I wouldn’t be too bothered about losing out on Nugent or Koumas, good players but vastly overpriced. But, we must sign a few more in the Arteta mould, they are out there somewhere we just have to find them, Kieran Richardson by the way isn’t one of them.

Dutch add the name Steven Morrison to your list. He is an 18 year old 6ft 5’ central midfielder who has just been given a 4 year deal by Everton. Tipped as a potential England player of the future. Lets hope so because the last centre midfield player of any note was John Ebrell!

I agree with your assessmet of Kissock - great skill but tiny. Can’t see him making it at Premier League level, I’m afraid

I emailed Sharpy about Scott Spencer last season. He said the lad is really struggling to find his feet.

Well he won’t make much of a footballer if he can’t find his feet! Pretty essential I would have thought!
