The Mail Bag

End of the road...

What a PC place Toffeeweb has become! I have noticed in my enforced absence that the political mind set of the editors (or editor), has changed and now people like me are no longer 'good for the site image'! But why is that? When what I represent is an older fan base who isn't fooled or impressed with the three seasons of relative success!

I won't bore people with the success of the past, but that success felt more honest and true compared to the double dealing board today and a good but not great Moyes. I want a team to be the best it can be, and we aren't too far of that in this current climate. But there is a lot of room for improvement, yet people don't like hearing it.

They also don't like to hear fans concerns over the lack of transfer activity and Everton plan for the future. What people want to hear is a rosy chat about the small good things about Everton and thats it. Its funny, but this mind set is what the club loves and will continue to love us it does things that may harm us like the Kirby move among other things.

So it is for those reasons why I will not write to this site again, as I feel it no longer represents the fans I know and share/have shared my footballing passions with. No doubt this will make some people happy as this fits into their agenda, but enough is enough and to those who respected me for my views and the debates we had, I wish you well! If this gets published of course...

Nil Satis erm yeah some old Latin saying!

Enforced absence? Oh, FFS, Luq. Yes, your previous whingeing, attention-seeking flounce out of the ToffeeWeb MailBag was binned because it added no value and was based on your own delusion. This time you've at least dressed it up with some Everton-related content and, seeing as it's quiet, I'll indulge you and post this one... if only to nip this nonsense in the bud.

An article that you wrote was published in the "Features & Article" zone of the homepage which, following an adjustment in our editorial policy around the time we tried the abortive People's Blog, is now a bigger deal than it used to be. I decided that your piece wasn't quite up to the standard that the "Features..." zone requires and moved it to the right-hand column on the homepage.

As I said in an e-mail to you, your views weren't censored, obstructed or even denigrated. I merely made an editorial decision, one that was made on an article by Tony Marsh that same weekend. Tony is still here and hasn't thrown his toys out the pram. So, get over yourself and either start posting again or just flounce out permanently.

Bloody hell, you really can’t win here, can you?? Damned one minute for being a haven for negative, pessimistic Blues , then for being the residence of Moyes-loving, blinkered Evertonians the next!

One must be true, surely? Or perhaps there’s just a wide variety of opinion amongst Blues on here and some take things a tad too far on occasions? NSNO indeed and long may it continue.

Funny that, Lloyd, you’re rant at me is paraded for all the vultures to chew on. Yet my criticisms of your hypocrisy get ’binned’ as you put it. Big of you to do that! Or am I mistaken? As likely as an apology from you I fathom! Anyway this site is your train set so enjoy it, I certainly don’t any more!

But that?s just it, Yussef. What exactly am I supposed to apologise for? Where?s the hypocrisy? We published your article, your views have been a regular feature of the MailBag. And the above is criticism of our supposed hypocrisy. What exactly are you moaning about? And if you're already expecting "vultures" to "chew" on your post, it betrays a little acknowledgement on your own part that you are wrong.

Seriously Luq you are talking like we are actually going to miss you. Everyone who ever commented on your post had something negative to say about you. I actually didn?t mind some of them but a large amount were a load of shit. Why are you not happy with the past three seasons? We have improved. What you represent is an evertonian who is stuck in the past. We are not the team we where so just get over it. Yes we dont have the best manager in the world and the board dont back us but that is life and we get on with it. What can we actually do? It is not like the fans actually can sack Moyes or get rid of Kenwright and Wyness. Yet you continue to rant on about the same things over and over again.

I liked Luqs post,s Conner they where always from the heart and had passion about them. The lad obviously cares about Everton FC
despite his geographical distance from Merseyside .

>Why is a different opinion from the masses deemed as negative?I for one do not go along with most
of the fans post,s I read on here but I respect their opinions none the less.

Would you rather have a full on
opinion like Luqs to read or one of those soppy fucking bullshit post,s where the postee is more concerned with why a certain player has had his squad number changed. Who gives a fuck?

>The club is being turned upside down by BK and his muppets and all some of you worry about is squad numbers.

Luq pick ye dummy up mate and get back on board. This is a site for everyones opinion as far as I can see. Please dont end up in the Lovey Dovey world of Bluekipper lad.

Firstly I never said I was in the right, my argument with you was based on the principle of giving any opinion (pro, anti or neutral on Moyes/Kirby/Kenwright/etc), a just an equal say! And that wasn’t the case when you pulled mine and Marsh articles down that day, due to ’editorial policy’ as you put it. Isn’t that hypocritical of your claim of non-censorship and expressing all the views of the fans, whether by total or partial removal of posts? And my claim of hypocrisy is at you, not any one else at TW. As you said, it was your decision that weekend!

And regarding an apology, from belittling me with your original response, yet blocking my previous criticisms at you. Fair is that? Then excusing me of attention seeking and delusion, when your premise of attack was based on your assumption that you banned me from writing in, when I meant I chose myself not to write in. Is that down to my immaturity or to a seemly growing superiority complex from yourself? And lasting saying I dressed my email up to get it posted when all I ever cared about is expressing my views on Everton FC.

So if you still don’t understand my perspective Lloyd, and can not fathom my argument, then this is why I am concerned about this site at present. And I alluded to me being wrong, I wonder if you will follow suit!?

Luq as far as views go with are often polar opposites, sometimes we share a view but have different ways of looking at it.

But on this I do believe you are being a bit rash, editors reserve the right to adjust posts, but i am sure you are not the only one, and it is a case that I feel they only do it when necessary.

I don’t believe you have been marginalised, indeed, yourself and Tony Marsh as important here as any other fan with any other viewpoint.

We maybe polar opposites as I said some of the time, but I would hereby like to request, you take a step back, calm down, and see that you not being forced out. And then continue to do what you have always done, which is put your view forward, despite the fact that I openly admit, 99% of the time you wind me right up! And I, and I am sure a lot of others, wouldn’t have it any other way.

Yussef, your article was not "pulled" down, it was de-prioritized for a few reasons that I have already explained by private email, not least the fact that it was shorter than usual fan articles given that level of exposure and contained unnecessary commments about David Moyes?s character. Tony?s piece was, by his own admission OTT in its language and intensity.

Getting featured in that part of the homepage is a privilege not a right. The irony of this has not escaped others: we?re constantly accused of negativity so to be accused of censoring an attack on Moyes is amusing.

Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, good bye. Seriously though Luq, what the hell are you talking about. All points of view are represented on this site, positive, negative, idiotic, childish, etc. You said in your piece that you would not write to this site again, yet you posted something like three replies already.

And then to Marsh. "The club is being turned upside down by BK"? You’re right, it absolutely is. The club has been turned from a relegation fighting team of over 30 year old has beens being paid on past reputations into a team challenging the top clubs in England and qualifying for Europe 2 out of the last 3 years. Glad to see you’re coming around to our side Marsh. But this is a great site and all opinions are welcome, so get over yourself Luq

I’m sorry but I have to voice some regret at Luq being given the latitude to expound his self-preoccupied nonsense and come out with some absolute rubbish about this website and what it is about. I used to agree with some of what Luq said in the past but in the manner of his flouncing, I lost what respect may have remained.

Luq, I’m terminating this thread and it will be deleted tomorrow. If you want to contribute your opinions about Everton in a sensible and respectful manner, as do 95% of our contributors, by all means go ahead and we will consider them for publication. But continue with this garbage and you really will be banned.
