The Long Hard Summer!

I?m still not sure what is happening behind the scenes at GP. As a Moyes and Kenwright supporter (not apologist!), I have to trust that everything is in hand but the longer the silence and the longer nothing happens, the more the negative thoughts start to spin round your head!

I am disappointed we didn?t get Nugent but only from the view that he is a Blue and really wanted to play for us and would have been a good addition to the already fairly strong forward line; £6m far too much though! The way I see it, if we make two more £4m+ signings and a couple of frees, everyone would feel a lot better about the whole situation and I think a lot more positive about the season ahead.

As it stands, I believe that we currently have the TEAM to compete in all the competitions we are entering. I even believe that 3rd and 4th spot in the league are wide open and that has to be a realistic target and would sacrifice cup runs for a spot in next seasons CL and all the financial benefits that come with it. The problem I have is the depth of the SQUAD. It is quite possible that at Christmas, we will be progressing well in the Uefa Cup and also nicely placed in the top 6 in the league but with a bad run of injuries/suspensions; all that good work would be undone.

Now without getting FM on you, I think someone like Michael Ball would be a good idea, free, would be more than happy to come home and a good squad player which is what we need as well as a couple of more quality signings similar to the names currently being banded about (Baines/Richardson/Smith).

A good season for me would be top 6 and European qualification minimum from the league with a good Uefa Cup run and within shouting distance (Quarter Finals at least ? this gives you the chance to kick on to the final) of the domestic cups.

So with only a few weeks left please give us something to cheer about so we can all stop thinking negatively! COYB!!!

If there is £15-30 million sitting in the bank or waiting from investors for a move from Goodison, would people rather we stayed put for now and spent that money on players now and next season.

From where I'm sitting, it would be better to strengthen the team now and secure regular European football and maybe some trophy success which would hopefully then secure more funds/investment for a new stadium or redevelopment of GP.
