Lack of new faces at EFC

As the days tick by toward the new season I, as probably most of you, wonder when our next signing is going to be made and who (within our budget) it is possibly going to be. I was disappointed we didn't look like serious contenders when Barton became available (OK, the guy is a major loose cannon so if this is why we steered clear I can understand that).
At the end of last season I felt really confident about where the club is headed and anticipated 5 or 6 new arrivals coming in but lets not forget 2 years ago when we finished fourth we all thought that could be the catalyst to signing top players, it never happened, so why would it when we finished sixth. The press are constantly mentioning the increased revenue from TV and the money we will have received for finishing in the top 6 must be swilling about somewhere I just hope it is available for Moyes to use immediately.
I do feel that one of Moyes's strong points is that he never seems to budge on his valuation of a player, if he's over-priced by his club we aren't interested and no doubt that has cost us a number of signings in the last 5 years. Then again, if any of us start to feel too disheartened just look at what is happening around us and if DM was willing to up the ante and match other clubs for spending we could be sitting here having spent £11m (probably more than we have available after Jags)and have Nugent and Koumas on our books, no thanks!
