Unbelievable FA Cup Draw
Comments (86)
I knew our number was 28... but first out away to that shower.
Well Moyes yesterday won only his 5th FA Cup tie in his tenure at Everton.
If he can get a 6th this season to go further, he will be hailed a hero...

4th round:
RS vs Everton.
Would you believe it.
Well that?s our predicted income screwed for this year now then (the club planned on certain cup progress if I?m not mistaken). While I?d love us to put Liverpool out, at Anfield with their strength it is probably unlikely.
Oh well it?s Champions League / UEFA Cup or bust now!!
5 days after our league game there!
We?ll do them twice in 5 days then.
Come on the Blues! Let's step up to the plate... 2 wins inside a week at the tinmine. We're due a bit of luck over there.
Just sat listening to the radio hoping for a nice easy draw to ease us onwards to what I believe(d) could be a genuine crack at the cup.
Not bothered about a home draw, but just happy to avoid the big 4...suffice to say being the second name out of the hat after the shite was not ideal.
Balls, talk about having to do it the hard way!
Well, well, well... you wouldn't believe it would you, the warm balls have thrown up a Merseyside Derby in the 4th round. Happy days indeed. Isn't that two Anfield derbies in a week?
Liverpool (picked by Dave Beasant) vs Everton (picked by Di Matteo)...... first two to be picked.
Just wondering how evryone feels about drawing LFC at Anfield. I'm not to bothered to be honest, rather knock them out now than get knocked out later.
EFC for the cup.
It?s a good draw in my eyes ? nothing to lose. Rough them up in the first game to see them off in the cup tie. Liverpool need this tie like a hole in the head.
Now Moyes will have to bring in someone soon because this game will provide many a Red & Yellow card as well as possible injuries and a test to our overall fitness.
This is still an opportunity to take out one of the favourites and if we want to join the big boys we have to beat the top sides.
If we can get a draw, does it get extra time or replay?
Everton taking over the whole Anfield Road End!!!! Stevie G getting his arse robbed in Walton nick. UP THE TOFFEES!!!!
Tom, A drawn first game would lead to a replay, which would (if drawn) lead to extra time and penalties at Goodison.
Tom, it’ll all be about what Stevie G decides is best for the RS after 90 mins.
Dont worry, lads, Gerrard is due in court the day before the tie ? 23rd Jan ? and with a bit of luck will be having some porridge for his breakfast, dinner and tea for the foreseeable.....
Chris
Can't you let them finish the draw before you start waving that white flag?
When do you think it will be played ? Saturday or Sunday? As it will be on telly, Setanta might switch it Sunday but with the Arsenal game on Wednesday it's unlikely... or is it??
Get in there!!!!
Brilliant draw, Liverpool at Anfield twice within a week. I can’t wait, three easy points in the league and almost a bye to the next round.
After next weeks game at Hull our next four games are Liverpool twice, Arsenal and Man Utd.
Guys, I having been working for a company for 9 years now. I leave that job at the end of January.
I have been tormented by those Redshite Gobshites in my job for my 9 years, came very close to hitting a few them on a number of occassions (they?re the despicable plastic Liverpool supporters who never kicked a ball in their lives), it?s got very heated at various times.
So we have two Anfield derbies in less than a week, which will be my second last week in work. The last week I?m dreading already, after 9 years it would be pure heaven to dent their title charge and knock them out of the cup but pure hell losing both of them.
I can?t believe this, I just cannot believe this, the Man in the Skies couldn?t have planned this any worse for me.
Time to start praying, fellow blues!!!
We?re going to stuff them ... I feel it in my bones.
Great! Bring it on! It?s up to EFC to derail the RS season rather than watching them get spawny as other "Big 3" sides around them screw up in the league and cup. I would hate to see the RS win the Prem so at least it?s in our hands to duff them up a bit and put a spanner in the works. With their dodgy home form and our sparkling away form do you think the RS are looking forward to playing the Mighty Blues?
I think it might work in our favour that we have them twice in a week. As Mike said, the shite don?t need these type of games. But we need a striker for sure. I woudn?t bet against a replay either.
No problem lads. Last two times we played them in the 4th Round, '81 and '91, we beat them. Good omens and all that!
.....red nail meet Blue Hammer. That’s the attitude.....
The heated brick makes its reappearance after an autumn sojourn post Uefa loan period. Infamy... "They?s all gorrit in for da Blues." At least The Waiter will play team "A" (less Stevie GBH who may otherwise be indisposed) ? cos he won?t wanna upset the Norwegian core support. May cost ?em a few points we hope.
Apologies in advance, my other half is a Southampton season ticket holder who hasn?t gone today due to Xmas/our son. Does anyone have a link please?
Not over confident but not scared either! They only beat us in Semi Finals and Finals, the earlier rounds are ours. Bring it on!

BRING ON THE BASTARDS! I’m thirsting for blood.
I?m not happy with all my Evertonian mates seeing this in a negative light, while all my Kopite mates greeting it with open arms. I?m well up for this. Beating them in at least one game would be good enough (knocking them out of the cup, or a home defeat in their quest for the title) but I?m after both.
If any other set of fans deserve this, it?s us.
3 points in the league to knock their title challenge off course. A draw in the cup to bring them back to Goodison and add extra games to their already congested fixture list, thus damaging title challenge further.
Win at Goodison and knock them out the cup. That?s what I?ll be wishing for!
Oh and a new striker... but we can all dream!
Moyes has all the luck. A dire performance yesterday against one of the league's poorest sides where we could have easily gone out and now he will claim it was simply bad luck being drawn away against one of the big four. We will never win anything with him in charge.
As I wrote back in November, I saw the two weeks at the end of January when we faced Liverpool (a), Arsenal (h) and Man Utd (a) as the real test to our ability to actually challenge Aston Villa for 5th spot. Well, now add Liverpool in the FA Cup to that 2 weeks. They certainly don't make things easy for us... and the bare cheek of Ferguson bemoaning the fixtures this week.
Sorry Lee, I meant the Southampton/MUFC game, most posters on here seem to find links to our games and I said we may be able to help ;-)
FFS - all I wanted was a home tie against a non-Sky4 club and sods law, we get the shite at fucking Anfield, there were 27 other fucking teams to choose from!
The FA Cup just isn?t lucky for us these days. We either screw up to a lower league side in the 3rd Round and even if we get through to the 4th round we draw one of the Sky4, again! Don't want to sound defeatist but that draw is a kick in the teeth!
Cross my fingers we can at least get a draw and bring them back to GP ? hopefully we?ll have a new striker by then.
Here you go, Simon: http://www.iraqgoals.com/en/ch1.html
Sorry to ruin the optimism.
Is there any chance Big Joe Royle and Howard Kendall could come back to coach / fire up the lads for that week and give the Redshite a load of bruises / bloodied noses?
Can?t see us winning either of them with Moyes in charge; with our poor record (scoring and points) at Anfield the best we can hope for is two 0-0s. And that breaks my heart to say it.
Expect an unmissable belated Xmas Special Double Edition from the excellent Tony Marsh...
Stay unbeaten in these 2 matches and Moyes I will be forever thankful to you, 2 wins and... I?m dreaming now, nurse nurse!!!
This is brilliant. Best possible cup draw ? if it was on in Goodison, we?d be under pressure. Both games will be played like they are cup ties. Remember, we went to West Ham twice in a week last season and won both games ? we can do this. We haven?t conceded a goal in 5 games, we?re scoring goals from midfield and are very unpredictable. Fellaini is only one card away from a suspension (Moyes, why not play him yesterday and have the suspension for the Hull game???) so that?s going to be a big risk, but I am confident we can get two results inside of a week. Don?t forget that Gerrard has a court date between the two games!
Nil Satis Nisi Optium!
To be able to win any cup, you should be able to beat any side in that competition and fear nobody. The pressure will be on the RS to perform but we?ve got to have a reasonable ref and not another FA stoolie kissing their arse and taking the lead from the convicted criminal creasehead.
45 other teams and we get the RS at the murderdrome.... not havin? it ? FIDDLE!!!
I expect it to be played on Sunday 25th due to Police and TV requirements and, if the Cup game at Anfield is drawn, the replay will be due to be played at Goodison on the 4th Feb ? just 2 days after the match at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson thinks those rascals at the FA have it in for him?
By the way, I thought January was supposed to be a dull month... I can?t stand derbies and dislike the tension of the FA Cup! BK sign a bloody striker quick!
Lots of piss and wind being spouted here.....Anybody with a modicum of sense would have wanted anything but this. Two derbies at the home of satan, within a week. Does anybody here really think they won’t be up for it too?
Love to think we can turn them over, but this will be a real test for our already threadbare squad and whilst I will be there in the Anfield Road end on both occasions, I can’t say I’m overly consumed with optimism.
Let’s hope Moyes has an epiphany and tries to win at Anfiled, instead of his usual trick of defending and hoping for the best. Our last performance over there was shameful and at least we had some fit strikers out that day!
Oh and before any dickhead starts having a pop, I was at Moss Rose yesterday freezing my bollocks off, so just because I don’t come on here giving it all the gobshite bravado, doesn’t mean I don’t care - We’ve now got 3 weeks of fuckin ITV & Setanta hype to live with and we can all do without that......
Pat, I totally agree with you, having no striker and going to the Graveyard is not my idea of fun. Our last 2 performances against them have been shameful and seeing as we haven’t won there in the last 10 years it is hardly ideal. However, we are due a performance at their place and they are due a home defeat, so you never know...but experience tells me that in fact we do know more’s the pity.
Just seen Fellaini outside Tesco's Metro in centre, I'm so chuffed, he was with this beautiful girl, she walked off and he was looking down with a hood on (obviously to stay unoticed ? but I couldn't help but notice the legend himself) and I knew it was him cos he was tall and I could see bits of hair coming out!!!
I went up to him "Maro" (he looked worried) ? shook his hand then, "Can I have a photo?" He said "Yes Quick!, so I got one and was so chuffed, then he asked to see the photo on my phone, then whipped off his hood and asked, "You like that?" I said, "Yes, too right!" and I got another with his affro out.
I'm so chuffed and then I said to him "Don't get booked!" and he said "I won't." Then he also asked, "You see draw?", I said "Of course!" He said, "I?ll win the two games for you fans!"
I was sooo chuffed to see him and get a couple of pics especially as he did look really scared at first as I bet he thought I was some dirty kopite!
His English was suprisingly good. I'm sorry this is slightly off topic but it's made my year... haha!
Love you, Fella!
Pat, I totally agree with all of that. I?m not looking at that week at all. Could easily be the worst of our season. Moyes has really got his hands full now trying to figure out a gameplan to win both of those games at Anfield.
Afraid that?s just our luck Denis!!
Dave, although you (and others quite possibly) are perceiving me as foregone and negative, I hardly think the ?rest of the draw? matters once we have been drawn away to one of the big 4 (or 3 now given Arsenal?s failures lately??). Best we can hope for is a non-biased referee, a Liverpool with one eye on resting players for bigger things (Prem & CL) and a helluva performance of our own. Did any one of us punch the air with delight when this draw was announced? Didn?t think so. Don?t know what it is about us and draws ? this year?s Uefa Cup a prime example... The other English teams got much inferior opposition, while we draw Standard Liege who should really have put Liverpool out of the CL!!!
Anyway, my point before was more that financially it looks increasingly bleak for Everton if we drop out of 3 cups in early rounds ? as it was suggested elsewhere that we budgeted for the Uefa Cup group stage, and 2 or 3 rounds of each domestic cup at least (can?t remember the actual examples sorry, I?m sure someone can fill in?). Which all makes European qualification this season essential, and that could be tricky given our striker predicament!!!
We need a good performance vs Hull and to get a striker in but if you?re worried look at this http://www.4thegame.com/football-statistics/premiership/tables/currentform.html we can go there and give it a real go knowing that we?re playing well and are stingy at the back. A draw in the league and a win in the cup!! COYB
@Johnny Murnane
Next yellow and Fellaini gets a TWO-game ban. He should have engineered a booking in our previous game and then served his ban against Macc in the Cup and Hull.
This has to be Moyes's worst nightmare. His derby record is comparable to his FA Cup record, with some of the worst performances seemingly saved for this fixture. I cringed as we defended a 1-0 defeat at theirs last season.
Only one way to go in my book. No respect, NO FEAR. Clattenburg?s career effectively ended so no ref will dare to be as blatantly biased. I hope Fergie turns on his mind-games with The Waiter in the run-up to the league fixture.
COYB
LOL, Matt: ?Engineered?... I bet he would have got found out ? I tell you what... wouldn't surprise me if the refs Engineered a booking to him for nothing so he misses the 2 Anfield games
Keep on getting text messages from fans of the Shite saying they are going to fucking murder us!
Come on blues, let's do them over.... EFC for the Cup!
The cup game can still be played on Friday the 23rd, the day Gerrard is due in court.
Good times!!
So envious of you locals, two derbies in a week?! We got nothing to lose. Here?s hoping Moyesie just goes balls out, picks a fun side, and perhaps even Pip can throw a crunching tackle or four at DJ Stevie Lalala....
I hope Moyes has showed BK the next 5 fixtures: Hull, Liverpool, Liverpool, Arsenal & Man Utd... We need to add to the squad as those fixtures will stretch the squad to the max.
Awesome, Charlie!
We’ll see... ;)
The game will not be played on Friday or Saturday evening ? the police will not allow it. I reckon it will be a 1:30pm KO on the Sunday.
With all the hard games coming up, the one bit of good news we should have our old friend Tony Marsh back writing on here again by the end of the month.
Placed bets on EFC @ 25-1 to win and e/way yesterday; now 33-1. Q - Should I risk it again?
MJH, not literally ’murder us’ I hope. Best to check with them.
The only thing to come out of the draw for me, is that there will be no hiding, winner takes all. Moyes is normally so negative against the so called top 4, in this case though, he is going to have to go out and go for it.
But, on the other hand, we all know how negative he was against Chelsea in the Carling Cup....
Maybe we can get Sharpie fit.
Let's fooooook up Liverpool's season in 5 days and make ours!! (Memories of West Ham last season x 10,000).
hahah :)
This is a great chance to inflict pain on the redshite. We have had our fill of spineless performances in recent derbies and I don't think another one will be tolerated. Absolute blood and thunder is the barest minimum we demand... so, even if we don't win both matches, we have got to hurt them and damage their squad for the rest of the season.
Moyes has to get better at the mind games quickly too... about the ridiculous favouritism shown by officials and the reffing of games by Carragher and Gerrard. It's got to be pointed out... Ferguson does it, all the savvy managers do it, so why doesn?t Moyes? Its not like what he?s doing works for us is it?
This is our chance to ruin their season; there?s more pressure on them.... don't let us down, Everton!
Mike, I wouldn?t say there is more pressure on them. They sit top of the league and are still in the Champions League. For us, if we get beat, our season is virtually over.
I expect grief for this but I am made up with that draw. I don?t care what they say, the last thing they will want is those 2 games back to back, with Alonso out and the other prick's court date. The European Cup starts back soon and they?ll have an eye on league games coming up. Why can?t we turn them over? ... just so long as we at least have a crack at them.
And another thing, what?s with the ridiculous negativity after yesterday?? 3rd rounds of the cup, away, at lower league teams are notorious! We were comfortable the whole game and although not creating that much in the way of chances, we dominated pretty much from start to finish. Yeh it?s expected of a team 76 places above the opposition, but it still has to be done.
The draw was a bloody fix. The warmed up balls had to be drawn out first before they cooled down! Did anyone else notice how Di Matteo's hand went round and round the pot before drawing out 28. The motive? A big game for TV and a good money spinner all round.
Still think we?ll win though and they?ll find us a very different proposition from the team they met back in September. COYB
Gerrard will be wearing a new number for both games: 8971703
Have flights booked for next Monday's game in Liverpool. Would pay extra for a ticket in our section. Can be contacted on 00353876817795. Would appreciate someone's help. Thanks,
I think this is one of the most positive things that could?ve happened to us. I was always hoping for a solid PL team because there will be no sense of complacency in training from the players. If we got Histon or a low team, I think we would have only scrapped around. But now we have Liverpool at Anfield twice. Let's do a West Ham again!! NSNO.
Just remembered that I will be on holidays in Australia in NSW Central Coast. Anyone know of a place where a 17-year-old can watch the game? Or get me Fake ID. Stupid resort doesn't have FOX.
Don’t worry, we will stuff them like they lost to Spurs twice in a week. This will happen to them again.

Dave Moore, Come to Sydney, Dave. You & I can watch it together at my gobshite trophy-hunter's mate's house.
David, ?fake? ID is not advisable or legal I think, but I understand that ID such as driving licence etc can be obtained online, with the details, DoB etc. you advise. Not sure where but heard on the radio recently that there are loads of good ones easily available. COYB!
Fuck! Sorry lads, sorry David, but I am not nearly as optimistic about the draw. Call me a coward, but I?d have taken Chelsea or Man Utd 1000 times over this. Actually, I would have taken Derby or Watford, too. Whoever drew this should get their hand cut off.
Hi is there anyone out there with 2 spare tickets for the league game at the shite? I'm desperate.
You have only got to look at the record of Prem teams in the FA Cup last season and this to see that every team is vulnerable. Lower ranked teams who are well organised and who are up for the battle have caused upsets again and again. However much bluster the RS fans may come out with, deep down they are scared that this will happen to them. I really think it would be foolish to write off our chances right now. The magic of the FA Cup lives on!
It’ll be a draw in the league game, followed by 1-0 to us in the cup, even if we need to replay at the Old Lady.
You couldn't get a tougher test for a team than our January fixture list ? it could be a nightmare or it could be the making of a great side...
Wonder who we’ll get in the 5th round?
COYB
Two draws from games against the top 5 says it all; however, we only won 10 league away games in 84-85 and we already have 7 this year so we have nothing to fear and are due wins against the RS. Mind you in a REALLY big game maybe we need a Kendall or even a Royle in the dressing room, someone who has been there and done it. If a Moyes side goes one down in a big game can anyone really see a way back? By the way, Rich Griffiths ? are you my uncle? Oh and Simon Templeman ? were you at Cowies 20 years ago?
anyone know hoow many tickets we get.i know we get the whole anfield road....jus wonderin if ill qualify with my season ticket n 2 aways.when are everton announcing it.moyes has never won a must win game since he bin in charge.time to grow some balls blues.
Looking forward to it and hoping that the Redshite will not focus on it as much as we will. Saw us beat them at Wembley in 1984 Charity Shield.
Well at least we'll be in the draw for the 5th round as the match against the others is to be played on Sunday 25th with a 4pm KO live on Setanta.
As soon as I seen the reds come out of the hat, first I had a gut feeling that we were going to be next... Bring 'em on I say.. The last thing they wanted at this stage of the season is an extra derby... just hope our lads get stuck in and lose the negative attitude we seen in the game at Goodison this season.
OK boys, you need to keep the faith. I have a horrible feeling that because of some fuck wit decission from the ref, we loooooose, ahhhhh, yes loose the premiership game. But I will go 1 to 1 bets (maximum 10 quid) that we win the fucking cup game ? unless we all go together and place it with ladbrookes or someone ? anyone in?
