Weakened Villa...

Comments (16)

Great to see that Gareth Barry has picked up a one match ban and misses the game on Sunday. Fingers crossed for lots of Villa players playing 90 mins for England and picking up niggling injuries. Also hope Jags has a nice comfy seat to watch the game but comes on with a minute to go to pick up his cap!

Just noticed that Villa will be playing CSKA, Chelsea then CSKA again after the Everton match. With the position they are in at the moment League & Uefa Cup does anyone think they may field a weekends team against us or not??

To be honest I don’t care as I’m confident we’ve got the beating of them anyway.

I dont really think the Uefa Cup is any longer a priority for Villa. I would expect a weakened team agaisnt CSKA.

The same players have played the hardest month out with decent results despite fatigue and niggling injuries so why be happy that Barry or any of the other Villa players will be missing.

It never entered my head and lets face it Liverpool put out a very strong team against us and we eventually out fought them without having cover and as strong a bench as they had. No don't worry, if we can hold then beat Liverpool and give Man Utd a hard time trying to break our fantastic defence down then we should fear no-one!! We should have beat Villa at Goodison and our defence was not playing as well as it is now... Villa have a decent defence too but I reckon we can do them two-nil...

My best mate back home in England is a VIlla supporter and he wants EVERTON to win on Sunday. Just like us last year, he fears with a small squad taking on the Uefa Cup and The Prem and The FA Cup is too much.... one can?t argue with that theory.

I would expect given their current position their priority (if they have one) would be The Prem, there?s obviously more money to be had there next season.

I just hope he?s right!

Whatever their approach or line-up I still think we can take them. Especially as it?s at home. And with Barry missing, that can only help!

Weekend or weakened? ? anyway, it?ll still be nice that they won't have one of their better players! As long as we cut out the silly mistakes made last time, we can do the Villa.

The absence of Barry and I believe Heskey as he is cuptied will be a big plus for the Blues, however I?m more concerned about the fact that Moyes may try and bring Yobo back, thus breaking up the best defensive partnership in the Premier League.

As long as we have Tony Hibbert at right back shackling Ashley Young we have more than a good chance, think back to the city games last season were he man marked Martin Petrov both games, the rest of our team were able to dominate safe in the knowledge thier creator in chief was out the game, the way ya bolton?s, hulls, stoke?s of this world try to boot arteta off the park to stop us. Only I can?t see sidwell or stylian petrov trying to bully mikel on sunday, we have a great chance.

We can do the villa, COYB.

Just because Barry?s missing don?t make the mistake of underestimating this Villa team. However, if our players are on song we have a good chance. What happens if god forbid a replay is required. When will it be played given Uefa Cup dates are so close to orignal FA Cup Tie?

I would prefer them to play a strong team, to allow us to get one back for the way we gifted them the points in the league game. Am really up for this, we need another display as per the Bolton game.

Garry,

I think this one will be more like the Liverpool game than the Bolton contest somehow... Blood and guts everywhere!

It will seem almost like a Derby.

I don't want to get carried away but I totally enjoyed Jo's performance on Saturday, even before he scored. He had great control, he was bringing the ball down and laying it off with ease, finding space and was willing to work. A couple of our more expensive players could learn a thing or two off him for sure. And the goal he scored from a Neville punt was top draw. Pity he's cup-tied.

Is Jo cup tied? or was it just for last round?

Cup-tied means for the entire competition.... no worries though.

No worries mate.

No matter what Villa puts out against us, we’re still gonna beat them. Our confidence, after beating Liverpool, is much much higher than them. And I know that Villa is actually scared of us.
