Andy Dunn in the NotW

Comments (12)

Did anyone read this prat's column in the News of the World today?

He condemned teams who uses the loan market saying that the whole system is a shambles and should be abolished. He also said that every goal that Jô will score for Everton against a bottom-half team this season will be a goal for Manchester City and that teams shouldn't be borrowing players from other teams cos their current ones aren't good enough.

I'm not one to really pay much attention to these columnists but this has really got me going.

What are teams like Everton meant to do during the transfer window? Teams that haven't got money to burn on players and cannot afford to purchase a multi-million pound flop? Teams who are short of numbers and have succumb to injuries to their already small squads?

Maybe Mr Dunn thinks we should just get by and watch all these teams fall to more of a disadvantage to the sky 4.

Everyone is entitled to his views. Everton do not need Jo to beat Bolton. But Everton is reviving the career of a potentially great player because the "player's current team is not good enough". Jo will not be able to score for Man CIty against Bolton because Man City do not have Phil to hoist the ball into the box for Jô to score or Gosling cross to be blocked for the penalty. So let it go.

And why didn’t he condemn the team LOANING players out?

Sounds like a simpleton, Bolton fan, RS fan, or someone who wants Mark Hughes out!

So it’s perfectly ok for the manure or RS to raid spud strikers then by flashing $$$? How about third-party owned players like Tevez?

FYI - Andy Dunn is an Evertonian!

His views are exactly the same as Martin Samuel’s, who has been banging on about this problem ever since we had Howard on loan from ManUre, but couldn’t play him in the game when they beat us 4-2 and Turner dropped a clanger.

Can’t be bothered to go into the details right now, but he does have a point. Suggest you look up some of Martin Samuel’s back catalogue from his days at the Times - it’s a real bug bear of his (and now by the sounds of it Andy Dunn’s too).

What Andy Dunn seems to forget is that football is a business. In the real world businesses contract people out to other companies. He?s a bit off a tit really who doesn?t know what he is on about. He makes Amanda Harrington in the Echo look sane ha ha ha.

If Mr Dunn thinks that loan deals should be abolished, then he has a right to give his opinion. There are plenty of things in life as well as football that aren?t right but Everton / Moyes would be foolish if they weren't taken advantage of.

He’s got a point that loaning within your own devision is wrong. Wasn’t it Utd or the Shite that had 3 goalies loaned out to Prem teams all of who had them as first choice, and all of who were not allowed to play them against the team loaning. That’s 6 games against teams with second choice goalies...
Still the rules are the rules and we got a good one with Jo.

Loaning a player lets you take a look at them before spending huge money on them. I bet Man City would have rather taken Jo on loan from Moscow before spending £19m on him!

Loans used to be to give young players first team expierience or to cover an injury crisis, but it has evolved over time.

He should be more concerned about banks loaning money -especially as far as the Sky 4 are cocerned.

If you read trash like the NotW you know what to expect don’t you? Dunn sounds like a spectacularly boring person, Kopite or not.

I think his point is very valid within the confines of their own league.

Taken to its extreme what if Abromovic bought all the best players in the world and loaned out second string players to teams other than their main competitors.

There is something wrong with a game that lets, for example, Howard go on loan to EFC and not play against his employers but keep clean sheets against other teams in the division.

I have nothing against taking a player from say Serie A or the Bundeslige on loan but it should be banned between Prem Clubs.
