Limavady United v Everton

I am on the board at the above club which is 125 years old this year. We were the first overseas club to play Everton at Anfield Road on 02/01/1886, and won 1-0. We've done damn all since, and so I would be grateful for any information on the match that anyone may have.

I have a press cutting from the time, it reads:
On the second of this month, Everton FC welcomed their first overseas visitors to Anfield Road. Limavady United who are in their founding year as a club won the match 1-0.
Amassing fully 3 supporters so far, Limavady?s vocal support were heard to say "We?ve done damn all until now, it's good that things are going to change."
I hope that helps David.
Fuck me Nick.
Do you have to have a smart answer for every serious question asked. Someone asked for a bit of help few weeks ago and you gave another stupid smart arsed answer..

Oh yeah, that was a good one by me. So much so the Ed tidied up the post.
Thanks for remembering it was me, hunting it down and placing the link... I’ll be back in touch on your offer.
I’ll get them in, you rack the pool table
Sticking up for Nick here, I love to hear about all the old stuff and old press reports. Keep it up! I think its important to share information about our club. I hate it when I speak to people that I know are very knowledgeable about Everton but choose to keep things to themselves.
In their 1886 trip to England where on Merseyside they defeated Everton by a 1-0 margin ? the only Irish side ever to have achieved this distinction. Joe Sherrard, the player who hit the winning goal and earned the glory for Limavady will forever be part of the Club?s history. He was one of several Irish Internationals on the Limavady Team during that illustrious period for the Roeside Club. Others included Oliver Devine, Jim ?Bummer? Allen, George Forbes, William Brown, Tom Mc Clean, James Rankin and William Sherrard ( brother of Joe).
Bit of info and photo of Joe Sherrard at this link.
